wow wish i could quit mine!

do it!!!!

nothing like a little peer pressure, I've been getting it on my phone from a few influential people

don't do it unless you have somewhere else to work

have to say i'm getting the "am i doing the right thing?" feeling now

ah what size is it

I think something like a 3inch pipe with a 4-4.5inch tip. havent really mesured yet. all stainless to.

Hope i get it all done tomorrow, wouldnt mind hearing how it is in the tunnels hehe

Hey Pete its ceramic and after 5,000 rpm it sounds like a supercharger whistle so now I'm not boosting @ all and I've taken as much boost out of the manual controller as i can so its basically running factory boost to which i'm not using trying to drive on 0 or neg vacuum

Sounds like you've lost a little bit of the impellar which probably just shot out of the exhaust.

I wouldn't be doing too much driving if I were you because the blades can get fairly unbalanced and shatter now.

OK if the pieces shoot straight out your exhaust.......not OK if a piece gets caught between an exhaust valve and seat.

oh what happens then and when I'm on negative vacuum my understanding is the turbine isn't spinning?? :(

Wouldn't have thought it would stop spinning altogether but as long as your under boost I can't imagine the thing would fly apart.

You would think that the ceramic has gone but you never know, it could also be something else?!

My old 32 was doing this about a day before the rear tubine let go and lodged itself in my cat, as SLED said i really wouldn't wanna drive the car that much cause it sounds like the turbo's close to death

yeah I'm doing barest minimum with 0 or little boost

when mine blew i was in town and had to drive my car to woodcroft to my mates to fix it, was a f__ked drive with no boost trying to get up south road

    • I'm a fan of the JZX110, and the Aristo. Big cruiser cars, and with the factory cars, super comfortable and feel like you're driving an armchair! And the JZ motors are a pretty nice engine too, especially with some basic mods.   The import process, and the need to be able to trust people, and the fact there's so many scammers around is what ever puts me off wanting to go through that ordeal!
    • I don't care for these at all, but at least the underside looks straight and not rusty. A good basis for a long life. Many cars from Japan have been lifted with forklifts and f**ked almost irrepairably.
    • Yes, but it's not dumb or dodgy. You can build a perfectly good boost controller from a pressure reg, a relief valve (looks same same as a reg if all from Norgren or SMC, for example) and a check valve. I ran one for years. Only superceded with  EBC because I could get one for cheaps and wanted finer control.   THis mod is certainly not a sketchy boost mod, provided the boost is kept below the "spin to death" threshold of the turbos.
    • With ordering the belt, you're doing water pump and the idler and tensioner at the same time too yes?
    • This is just a dumb way of keeping the wastegate closed to make more boost. Undo it and either follow the factory setup or redo it properly. Manual boost controllers just use a spring preload to determine when to close in response to boost pressure so it no longer vents to atmosphere.
