So in all just be careful, unles they can provide you with history of some sort or a damn good warranty i wouldn't be buying from them.

I supposed that is the inherent risk in buying an import.... I'm fortunate that Writeoff had imported my GTR along with another. If you buy him a beer I'm sure he'll be happy to regale the saga that the car went thru before coming here.... car was left on the docks for a year, was FORKLIFTED onto the container (which caused damage to the sill) among other things...

Fortunately none of them were too serious and I've had only the normal dramas associated with GTR ownership (empty wallet, constant mechanical work, speeding fines, etc) but from the sounds of it, importing a car is a headache and best left to reputable people like Iron Chef or Prestige (which is where mine was sourced from)...

Penny i had a similar problem with a yard a few years back (Sensible's) Guy seemed too pushy for my liking, as in he brought the car to my place fot a test drive ;) Rear tyres were bald, aftermarket silicone hose in engine bay, heavy duty clutch, the list goes on. Things just didn't add up! Ex missus put a deposit down, but then changed her mind on it (just seemed dodgy)Was threatened with legal action for pulling out of the sale and all. Went down and fronted the owner of the yard, had another look over the car and asked to see compliance/rego papers. Seems they had been miss placed :ermm:

Managed to get out of the shit by pointing out he was trying to sell an uncomplianced and un roadworthy car (bald tyres and no compliance sticker), said if he wanted to persue it further he had alot more to lose than me. Never heard anymore about it :D

Sooo Dodgy!!

Yeah dodgy as. I ended up buying mine and hers from Synergy, as Rob is a family friend of sorts. But buying any second hand car is a lucky dip in a way. May be fine for six months then majorly shit its self with no warning. Go with a trusted importer ie Synergy or Iron Chef, those guys have too much to loose by making a bad name for themselves.

I went to look at a 34GT-T at Torque Motorsport on the weekend, ment to have done 64,000kms yet the interior was more warn then mine and i have done 109,000kms....

They wont give you any history either. Or let you drive it until you negotiate a deal, signing papers saying you will buy it subject to the test drive.

Why the hell does there have to be so many dodgy Skylines around. Gives me the shits.

My mate just bought a 4 door R34 from there. He has had it for 2 months and has maybe driven it for 2 weeks. The first day he bought it the radiator dropped all the coolant out of itself!

search the forums here for cars for sale, same goes with ebay, trading post, drive, carpoint, etc

find one & fly interstate to seal the deal.

thats how I got into the RB-ownership (empty wallet) saga

Yeah mines gone back to the mechanic *sigh* this time a busted heater core hose... leaking above 70psi... .ended up losing a couple litres of my genuine nissan coolant which I only had put in last week *sigh*

Frigging frigmeister of a frigmobile.

I got my 34 from Kristian, Was such a easy guy to deal with and this was almost 2 years ago now. I made sure it came with all books etc and was in my price range.

Will Import from him again one day.

BTW - Just got news today the ppl that carjacked my brother and the others last weekend have been arrested. YAY.

People have advised me against it

theres pros and cons for both.... money is the biggest disadvantage, however if you put in a rebuilt engine, you'll know its built tough and will be able to give you another 100,000km easy, if not twice that

Matty, is that a 5 watter? Perfect for cruises heh

My only problem with importing one is that I wont be able to drive or see it without paying the cash!

Freaks me out a bit..

i got mine fresh from japan and from a guy in melb,

she was worth it. all i had was 5 pics of her and that was it......... to begin with of course :3some:

I got mine straight from Japan too via a local importer here in Adelaide. Only had TWO photos and an auction sheet. I could of had more photos but didnt know until it was on the dock already waiting to be boarded onto the ship lol

    • I appreciate the detailed explanation, think I understand now. I spent the better part of last night reading what I could about shuffle and potential solutions. I had replaced the OEM twin turbo pipe with an alternate Y pipe that is separated further away from the turbo. The current one is from HKS and I had a previous pipe that was separated even further away, both have shuffle. I had heard that a divider can be welded in to the OEM pipe to remove turbulence, and figure that aftermarket pipes that are more separated would achieve the same thing. From what I read, most people with -10 turbos get shuffle due to their size, though it's a bit less common with -5s on a standard RB26. I think Nismoid mentioned somewhere it's because OEM recirculation piping is common in Australia with -5 cars. It seems that the recommendation tends to vary between a few options, which I've ordered in what I think is most feasible for me:  1. Retune the MAP or boost controller to try to eliminate shuffle 2. Install OEM recirculation piping 3. Something called a 'balance pipe' welded onto the exhaust manifolds. I don't know if kits for this are available, seems like pure fabrication work 4. simply go single turbo My current layout is as follows: Garrett 2860 -5s HKS Racing Suction intake MAF delete pipes HKS racing chamber intake piping hard intercooler piping,  ARC intercooler HKS SSQV BOV and pipe Haltech 2500 elite ECU and boost solenoid/controller HPI dump pipes OEM exhaust manifolds HKS VCAM step 1 and supporting head modifications Built 2.6 bottom end All OEM recirculation piping was removed, relevant areas sealed off I'll keep an eye out for any alternative solutions but can get started with this.  Only other question is, does shuffle harm the turbo (or anything else)? It seems like some people say your turbo shafts will explode because of the opposing forces after a while and others say they just live with it and adjust their pedal foot accordingly.
    • That worked out PERFECTLY! Thank you big time to JJ. He was able to swap me his stock diff. He drove all the way to me as well. Killer! Removal & install was pretty straightforward. The diff itself is HEAVY. So that’s a 2 man job.  Man does the car drive nice now! Couldn’t have worked out any better 👌
