haha oh and A Current Affair had some deadbeat come on talking about his crash... saying he was with his girlfriend so he decided to do burnouts to show off to her in his VN Commodore... ends up crashing - she gets out fine, he was injured.

whos got something mentally wrong?how about a track to race on?maybe mr ranns mental

ACA's covering all the important stories yet again, hoons, poor little nick darcy, coming up next-a naked tradesmen.

first and last time i watch ACA

That's acceptable.... after all he only plays for Port! I'd have given him 4 weeks :ninja:

lol, good thing I'm not on the team them....I'd be gunning the opposition with shirt fronts at every opportunity......within the rules of course. :D

if we dont get a track after this, then we might as well give up, it will never happen.

unless the miraculous happens and AIR is ressurected or a private consortium initiates the process by purchasing land somewhere...THERE WILL BE NO NEW TRACK UNDER THE CURRENT GOVT..........clear enough people! Straight from the horses mouth today, Tom Koustantonis.

Opposition minister for road safety Stephen Wade has put up his hand to support a new track.........happy voting next election

lol, good thing I'm not on the team them....I'd be gunning the opposition with shirt fronts at every opportunity......within the rules of course. :D

No.1 target would have to be Chad Cornes, hell I'd run from full back to full forward to run through him, within the rules of course.

I wonder what the banks giving out loans for cars think of the car crush idea ? Hmm. Just crush em. just crush em. life in jail. etc

Had a good chat with the old man about all this media hype. I wonder if hooning has actually increased ? Or its just the flavour of the month for media ?

Why dont we have all the other 100s of crashes all over the front paper ? Interesting.

Im probably just repeating what others have said and I doubt ill say anymore tbh.

Then take it to the top lol.. where Nick Zenaphon when you need him!? :D

being a sellout and looking out for himself and votes rather than the state that he says he looks out for

here's a time where im glad i own a 4wd...........betcha anything i could have a mad lift kit, mass muddies, limo tint and straight through exhaust and not get looked at for driving something unsafe..............but if i run around with "blue" lights im a menace to society :ninja:

you could hear the boo's for Rann on TV.. loud..lol

Dont flame me,,,,,,I'd like to remind people others read these forums???, its disheartening to read promoters comments from Old Skool New Age show when we did pretty well considering how many cars entered. be a bit more considerate of others comments please , If your mum would be ashamed to read it maybe you shouldnt say it ???and I'd hate to be excluded from events based upon some minority opinion's of people who dont attend events anyway? we dont need anymore bad press from keyboard warriors.just think a bit before saying it , common sense.

end rant

thank you

I wonder what the banks giving out loans for cars think of the car crush idea ? Hmm. Just crush em. just crush em. life in jail. etc

too true.....imagine having no real possesions other than your car with a big loan on it, then you lose your job and then your car gets crushed.......a few angry banks me thinks when the kids forfeit on their payments and there's no car to repossess. :D

That's not my reason, I want a turbo... Bad timing... Maybe someone more sensible then me will want to buy my naturally aspirated!

I'm glad my family arnt stupid about the whole jap car thing, dad would rather me get an xr6 turbo but knows it's not happening. He did motorsport himself so he understands passion.

I wonder what the banks giving out loans for cars think of the car crush idea ?

I'd imagine it wouldn't worry them too much so long as the repayments kept coming in.

Why dont we have all the other 100s of crashes all over the front paper ?

The Advertiser don't have any competition so they pretty much have freedom of journalism and the politicians can use that monopoly to their advantage to.

There are so many instances where something makes it's way to media and others don't. Not wanting to get flamed for this but an example....

Aboriginals involved in a car chase gets front page coverage and a 6.01 pm time slot on TV. Same thing happens with non indigenous and not mentioned at all....... and before you all go flaming me for that I know for a fact that 12 months ago a former employee of mine did get into a high speed pursuit towards Virginia and crashed the car driving whilst disqualified and it didn't so much as even get a mention on the radio yet alone the TV.

    • There's plenty of OEM steering arms that are bolted on. Not in the same fashion/orientation as that one, to be sure, but still. Examples of what I'm thinking of would use holes like the ones that have the downward facing studs on the GTR uprights (down the bottom end, under the driveshaft opening, near the lower balljoint) and bolt a steering arm on using only 2 bolts that would be somewhat similarly in shear as these you're complainig about. I reckon old Holdens did that, and I've never seen a broken one of those.
    • Let's be honest, most of the people designing parts like the above, aren't engineers. Sometimes they come from disciplines that gives them more qualitative feel for design than quantitive, however, plenty of them have just picked up a license to Fusion and started making things. And that's the honest part about the majority of these guys making parts like that, they don't have huge R&D teams and heaps of time or experience working out the numbers on it. Shit, most smaller teams that do have real engineers still roll with "yeah, it should be okay, and does the job, let's make them and just see"...   The smaller guys like KiwiCNC, aren't the likes of Bosch etc with proper engineering procedures, and oversights, and sign off. As such, it's why they can produce a product to market a lot quicker, but it always comes back to, question it all.   I'm still not a fan of that bolt on piece. Why not just machine it all in one go? With the right design it's possible. The only reason I can see is if they want different heights/length for the tie rod to bolt to. And if they have the cncs themselves, they can easily offer that exact feature, and just machine it all in one go.

    • This is how I last did this when I had a master cylinder fail and introduce air. Bleed before first stage, go oh shit through first stage, bleed at end of first stage, go oh shit through second stage, bleed at end of second stage, go oh shit through third stage, bleed at end of third stage, go oh shit through fourth stage, bleed at lunch, go oh shit through fifth stage, bleed at end of fifth stage, go oh shit through sixth stage....you get the idea. It did come good in the end. My Topdon scan tool can bleed the HY51 and V37, but it doesn't have a consult connector and I don't have an R34 to check that on. I think finding a tool in an Australian workshop other than Nissan that can bleed an R34 will be like rocking horse poo. No way will a generic ODB tool do it.
    • Hmm. Perhaps not the same engineers. The OE Nissan engineers did not forsee a future with spacers pushing the tie rod force application further away from the steering arm and creating that torque. The failures are happening since the advent of those things, and some 30 years after they designed the uprights. So latent casting deficiencies, 30+ yrs of wear and tear, + unexpected usage could quite easily = unforeseen failure. Meanwhile, the engineers who are designing the billet CNC or fabricated uprights are also designing, for the same parts makers, the correction tie rod ends. And they are designing and building these with motorsport (or, at the very least, the meth addled antics of drifters) in mind. So I would hope (in fact, I would expect) that their design work included the offset of that steering force. Doesn't mean that it is not totally valid to ask the question of them, before committing $$.
