the blocks are identical as far as I know... well... identical as long as you're comparing an R33 GTS RB25DE to an R33 GTS25t RB25DET. R32 RB25DE, and stagea RB25DET (AWD) might be slightly different.

the compression ratio of the rb25de is higher than the rb25det.

and which rb25de are you talking about, 32 33 or 34?

32 and 34 rb25de have different cam specs to the 33 rb25de. both the 33 rb25det and rb25de share the same cam specs though.

yep they are the same, even the heads a physically identical. The only difference is cams, valve springs, and pistons really.

All rb25de i have seen have oil and water provisions already tapped out with a bolt plugging them which are ready for the turbo to be bolted on. The only turbo line that isnt on the n/a block is the turbo oil return which is easy to drill out and tap anyway.

If you are rebuilding the engine and you can get a n/a very cheap it will be fine

if your using just the block it should be fine but you will need to drill oil squiters in if you get it cheap enough it will be worth it

but a n/a doesnt have oil squirters

if he runs forged pistons in the rebuild it will be fine without oil squirters

yep, those ones.

oil squirters are a bitch to do custom. you have to find the oil galley then tap into it, then drill and tap the hole for the nut to go into, as well as the little circle thing for the squirter arm to fit into.

just get a bare turbo block for 250-ish.

or even go rb30 :yucky:

    • Hey Murray, hope all is good. I took your advice and put the filler first then the putty. Seems like a much better result but i noticed there are still pinholes. I even had pin holes when i initially put the putty on the body filler. Do you think it has something to do with my spreader being f*cked? I attached some images. This is the intially body filler i sanded. No putty yet  Applying putty. Final result after using wax and grease remover can see the pin holes. I just noticed as i look at the putty application it looks wavy not sure if it's supposed to be like that or because of the spreader.
    • Hey all just wanting some advice. I’ve just compression tested my RB25det and these are the following results  Cyl 1 - 135psi Cyl 2 - 135psi Cyl 3 - 120psi Cyl 4 - 140psi Cyl 5 - 130psi Cyl 6 - 125psi   do these numbers seem ok.  Thanks in advance
    • I must say - this is how I picture all R31s!
    • Rust repairs completed, doors back on! pretty much totally back together running now. All future repairs will be fiddly wiring getting everything back up to road condition.  hasn’t  taken that long considering the condition I got the sub. note my helpers keeping the back seat warm 😂
