Now im putting

  • A Geniune Garrett gt35 Bush bearing Turbo only done 2000km
  • Teal external Wastegate with screamer ( this is for the coppers only )
  • Sard fuel pump with reg..

what are your opionions.

What is the intended use of the car, i would be using a different turbo, and you will need full engine management and injectors, and screamers on a street car is plain stupid

Max psi will be 14psi

I was told My tuners that the safc will fix it for 14psi

The Turbo was also told would be fine

i know the full engine mangement would be better but i dont have 2g in my pocket atm.

as for Screamers.......they sound SEXY.....

Sorry to tell you mate, find a new mechanic. What they have told you is a shocking modification list, which if someone were to suggest that to me, i wouldnt ever go back there as they clearly have no idea.

You dont purchase a GT35 and run 14psi. You run 20-25psi+ on a 2.5ltr. Otherwise there is no point having the turbo on there.

Its not going to do anything but give you a laggy and unresponsive car.

To give you an idea, the turbo is capable of well into the 350rwkw marker, so only running around 240rwkw that you will be, is just pointless for a turbo of that sheer size.

Your far better off with a hi-flow or a better matched GT30XX turbo.

It will make around similar power (on around 15-16psi), but more importantly probably make boost 2000rpm earlier and be super responsive.

Also the use of a S-AFC for such a setup is also ridiculous. You need a fully programmable ECU. Not a $350 band aid :)

This is probably one of the worst 'my mechanic suggested' threads ive seen this year, i strongly urge you to go somewhere else

^^^ the best advise you could possibly listen too !!!!!!

GT35 14-15psi = calender to map response and a stop watch to record how long it will last with a SAFC tune :)

Okay.................. I printed this thread and showed it to my tuner

and he completly agrees with what R31Nismoid had to say......

Now he said to it wasnt a GT35............. I dont were i got the gt35 turbo from then

He said it Custom GT30........it was for there twin turbo supra...... but now there using t67 turbos

T3 flanged........ i know it is bush bearing and it need an external

They also said the should minimal lag or even no lag wif this turbo...

As for a computer he said it will run much better with a fully programmable computer but for now we can make it run on low setting with it......................

i should be getting a EMS Stinger soon

I dont believe "no lag"

A GT30 is roughly 260-320rwkw depending on config used.

I'd be asking what housings it has on there, and what wheel trims it has.

THEN we'll be able to tell ya as someone has probably used one before :D

    • Hey keep the ideas coming, I'm always keen on projects! But, problem fixed!  I got a cheapie ozito scope from Bunnings and had a good look in and around the bearing and sensor hole. I couldn't see a smoking gun but the bearing looked a bit strange, especially when comparing with a new one. I thought the cover had come off the bearing magnets.  Sorry for pics of a screen, I didn't have an SD card.     Good thing I had the old one to inspect. So, given I'm like a pit crew with wheel bearings and luckily I had a spare bearing because I f**ked up my parts order, I decided to just smash it out. Got the old one out in about an hour. So much easier when the parts haven't had a chance to rust together yet. 😂 And, well, found the problem.    In the second pic at about the 8 o'clock position, you'll see what I think is the tip of the old sensor.  The new sensor has definitely been rubbing but it's all intact, just a little shiny so I'm hoping it's fine.  The car brakes perfectly now and no errors.  I think the job took about 2.5h in the end. 👍🏻 I really appreciate the help in here as usual. Thanks guys.
    • I was only looking because I saw some drops on the ground but it wasn't alot. Recently had it serviced will ask the mech to confirm. Find it strange that it looks standard though, can see in another photo of a random box
    • So...not sure if you know if that has always been there or why you went looking. It could be old damage from a clutch explosion, or even just the gearbox got dropped somewhere along the line. Basically, you should seal it up to stop oil and dust getting into the bellhousing, but it doesn't matter too much and is not structural. I'd suggest something like a glob of JB Weld. BTW what gearbox oil are you running, I would guess the breather has been spewing it everywhere.
    • Hey Duncan thanks for your reply. Sorry mate I know the photos are shit.  Took another photo for reference. Seems the casing does have a hole in it looking on the net, fluid seeping out. Added a photo
