lol as if u buy it from car yard.

So thats like saying buying a car from Synegy is pointless???? They are a car yard aren't they?? and don't say because they are a jap import specialist they are ok!!

Maybe if someone knows of the car and it's history then they can post up, instead of saying car yards are shite!!

The guys just joined up with SAU yesterday..... Give him a break! If you want to go flame someone here is the place to do it....... http://www.nissansilvia.com

its 15999 11/95 build 140000kms interior is very good and exterior is great except for th mirrors have faded. has front mount, exhaust, pod(exposed of course) claimed 200rwkw 18"

drives really nice and runs smooth and consistent. susp/steering seems good and tight, engine has no apparent noises when listening under the bonnet and it seems either well tuned or the stock ecu is ok still, if the power figure is true. it would have 3months warranty which i wouldnt get private and i plan on usin ever bit of it i can.

i wonder if i got it dyno'd and it only made 170kw or whatever if i could ge them to mod it so it is what i bougt! lol. the ad does specify the power output after all.

Doesn't sound too bad mate, I wouldn't be looking for much more than that for mine if it were for sale and thats a S2 1996 with the same amount of Kms but has another 20 more Kws! Sounds alright tho, if your unsure of it then maybe ask for less and maybe 6 months warranty, If they won't have that then ask them whats wrong with the car.....lol

Does it have a 400R front and GTR rear wing? If so, be wary!! Redgtst crashed his 33 a few months back and it was an economical write off. May be repaired, so have it inspected whatever you do. if they refuse to allow an inspection, DONT BUY IT!

yeah be careful buying from a car yard, i rushed into mine and it has cost me lots since (its still stock after 3 years as i have spent more money fixing it than i have moding it :D )

if you do buy it from a card yard DON'T BUY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY!!!!! if the car has any modifications its void as soon as you drive it out the yard.

If an insurance company declare it a write off (economical or otherwise) it can not be registered again in Australia.(the costs make it prohibitive with engineering inspections etc for regency - and it MUST have a FULL regency inspection)

I found this out when I was looking at buying back my car after front end damage. (I would be able to fix it but never register it again) My only alternative was to take it to another repairer who was able to fit some "Reconditioned" parts rather than new from Nissan parts.

guy did you end up with a new car? haven't seen ya around for a while now

My car is nearly finished - I found a repairer that could fix it within the Insurance companies limits.

All I need now is to find a nice front bar (I like the TRUST bars - but finding a good one seems impossible)

i bought my car from a car yard and have been very happy, and i didnt even test drive just heard it run

i think if your gut feeling is telling you its ok then it very well might be

have you tried googling the car yards name because if a yard is shonky people will be talking about it online

defiantly don't pay 800-900bux for that 3 year warranty crap

Well there you go. I was of the understanding that economical write off's were ok to re-register based on the fact that there may not be structural problems, just from an economical viewpoint it wasn't worth their time. Have the laws on this changed in the last few years, or has this always been the case?

Either way, glad you cleared that up for me :)

it has a front bar, dont know what type, looks like sinista's just without the foglights. standard gts-t high rear wing. series 1.5 i believe. i work in insurance and yeah u cant reregister any form of writeoff legally. car yards have legal obligations to guarantee against there being money owing, writeoff rebirths, submerged and stolen vehicles. i'm in the process now of buying it, hopefully it all goes thr, as from talkingtsome mates a work it seems like a good car.

if anyone does know the car ad u can see it on the trading post website at 16999, please let me know. thaks.

for $5k more you can have my 34... :)

As for writeoffs, a friend purchased a WRX from a caryard, later he found out it was an economic wrieoff in NSW, they fixed it, shipped it over here and rego'd it...... It can happen, not sure on the legal grounds.

    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
    • Can I suggest you try EBC directly again and link them to as many competitor catalogues as you can to show their listing is incorrect, eg https://dba.com.au/product/front-4000-series-hd-brake-rotor-dba42304/ If you have access to an R33 GTST VIN and your VIN, you could also use a Nissan Parts lookup like Amayama to show them the part number is different between 33 GTST and 34 GTT which may get their attention
    • So i got reply from EBC and they just this site where you can clearly see those 296mm fronts on R34 GTT. I send them photos and "quotes" that 296mm are not for 34 GTT and they are too small. But it will be very hard to return them cuz nobody here knows 100% and they just copy those EBC catalogue :-D https://ebcbrakesdirect.com/automotive/nissan/skyline-r34
