Hmm, was thinkin of getting Viper alarm 5900 + Just Cars Insurnace for my GTR?! Dunno if they are any good, got a quote of 2500AUD from just cars, but alarm wise I am not sure, is there any other better alarm system than viper? if so, where can I get them from?? Too many skylines got stolen lately, kinda scared!

Speak to your insurance company with regards to their car alarm requirements.

Some require the car alarm to meet certain standards and specifications.

But off the top of my head.. Unsure whats good or not. I believe something that's not common or cheap.

Speak to Just Cars. There's absolutely no point getting a car alarm, get insurance, car gets stolen, recovered then the insurance company voids your policy as the car alarm didn't meet 'their' requirements. Simply not worth the risk for saving a few $$.

I do know they require a so called black wire 3 point immobiliser, the alarm must also lock the doors and arm its self.

I've disabled the lock its self feature as I had it lock my keys in the car.

As for the viper.. I have no idea, I run something a little different. :P

As above.. Famous Classic Car Insurance; in the past I've found to be tops.

i work for one of the insurance companies that covers this market. i cant say who sorry, but please do look at the small print in any pds that u get from a company when they qte you. there are a few companies who will act illegally and get away with it as people just accept the word of the company come claim time. for reference, if its not written as an exclusion then you are covered. if you are told "yeah but its only covered if...." you are being fed BS. duty of disclosure goes both ways too. if u say whaalarm u have at quote time and they accept tha, they arent allowed to go back on their word from that point on until the next renewal is due. just some food for thought for you guys. but as has been said in other threads, do tell everything to the company. fines, crashes(even if u didnt make a claim or the 3rd party didnt use their cover), where its kept at night, mods especially.

cheers.

Johnny there is an entire section in this forum dedicated to car audio and security. Do a search in there and you will find heaps of information about what alarms are considered the best, which are shite and which ones meet Australian insurance standards. You could always PM specific questions to Chris Rogers (who provides valuable alarm related information to people on this forum) for anything you can't find in the threads. Alternatively go speak with some installers here like George at Adelaide Pro Sound.

As for insurance it's a matter of ringing around as everyones circumstances are different regarding age, accident/speeding history, location where car will be kept, how many km per year you'll do in it etc. I'm with Shannons and find them brilliant to deal with both before and after making a claim. Has your car arrived from Japan yet? You still have time to do some research.

there arent too bad, i mean im paying 123 a month right now for full comprehensive insurance, and to be honest i think there was like a 400 difference between h2p and just cars when i was getting quotes last year before i got the car, the only reason i went with h2p is cause they offered pay by the month, something just cars doesnt offer

yeah thats why i went with famous good with mods and only HAD to be good alarm installed to which theve changed, and pay by the month my first year with famous (2nd year of car ownership) they insured me for 21g now its dropped to 16g i think my first year with just cars they insured me for 16g and said 14g the next year now with famous its 16g with mods

    • The question then becomes - was there any fluid coming from that hole before you did the rebuild ?    You may not have noticed, of course.   Depending on how you did the rebuild, the possibility has to be considered that somehow (cleaning ?)  fluid entered that hole and is now being 'forced'  out by small movements of the proportioning valve.   From the factory, there's actually a small rubber plug in that hole but with age and under-bonnet heat it's quite common for it to 'go missing'.  That rubber plug is designed to allow the venting process but also to prevent 'stuff' getting to the area (prevent corrosion, etc).   The plug is also not available as a spare part AFAIA. Personally I wouldn't race and buy a new master just yet but keep an eye on the area to see if the 'leak' continues.   If you're concerned about brake fluid damaging nearby paintwork, cable tie a piece of suitable absorbant material over the hole and remove/monitor occasionally.    Operation of the proportioning valve and the brake master itself won't be affected, but also keep an eye on brake fluid level, of course. In terms of a new master, the genuine part is getting expensive, unfortunately.  Amayama is showing AUD900+.   I was searching recently and there's an aftermarket part available from Japan made by 'Parts Assist': https://zenmarket.jp/en/yahoo.aspx?q=BNR32%2bBM50&p=1 Whether it's any good I have no idea, although in my experience Japanese aftermarket stuff is pretty good quality-wise.   The above site allows overseas buyers to purchase stuff more easily from Japan but there are fees and shipping costs, of course.   The original Japanese seller page is here: https://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/p1197401228 Copper/Nickel is fine but I still prefer bundy tube and it's also cheaper.
