Hi guys,

was just wondering if you guys would consider starting a Business Trader whole cars section.

It would definitely be better for us, since most users seem to think of the Business Trader section as parts only.

Our posts get about 200 views in the BT section, while private seller posts of similar vehicles get in the 1000's.

I assume BT's aren't allowed to post in the private sellers section, even if they flag their post with a Business Trader heading or something?

We always try to follow the rules around here and support an orderly forum, so just wanted to run this by you guys and see what you thought.

If there was a BT whole cars forum, I assume you guys would see an increase in dealerships registering as BT as well....that's ok, we're not afraid of a little competition.

cheers,

david

can I bump this thread, since I haven't gotten a response yet?

Honestly, we have a 1993 R32 GTR up for $18,900 that's only gotten about 82 views in the BT section.....a similar post (R32 GTR) in the Private Sellers section has 800.

Please help us out with this.....I have to justify this monthly expense to my boss, and 82 views makes it difficult, 800 makes it much easier....

Cheers,

david

Hi david,

Sorry mate, I missed this thread.

Sounds like a good idea. We have been toying with new ideas for businesses lately and this might be good. I'd like to hear back from some of the traders on what they think we can do to improve on the classifieds area.

Hi Christian,

Yeah, I missed your reply as well, seems like this thread likes to slip through cracks.

nissansilvia.com has a good dealer car section, open only to their Business Traders as well.

One thing I noticed about the classifieds section:

Sometimes we'll be on here looking for a steering wheel or something, and it's pretty tough to navigate. Seems like forums are great for browsing, but finding a particular item can be a bit rough sometimes.

Not sure if this is technically capable, but it'd be awesome to somehow link this board (powered by Invision? phpBB? ) up with Zencart or a similar system. Pretty much like setting up a marketplace section of the forum that'll be easier to find specific parts, etc. It definitely looks like there are good bargains in the parts section, and we're probably missing a decent amount. If this isn't technically possible, maybe arranging parts into subcategories i.e. engine, interior, exterior, etc.???

just ideas,

thanks for the reply,

david @ carizma

    • Jack the back of the car up, pull that wheel off, pull that sensor out, and put a bore scope into the hole to inspect the outer casing, see if anything looks damaged before you pull the whole thing apart.
    • Ergh... So I pulled the speed sensor out again and the tip was shiny so I think it's rubbing the bearing. The bearing contains the magnets for the speed sensor so I think when the first sensor broke it damaged the magnet ring on the bearing.  This is just a Google image, but there is a hole going to the bearing. So when the tip broke off the old sensor I'm guessing it fouled the bearing... As the magnet is only protected by a plastic cover it would be easy to damage it. So I guess I'm doing a bearing again.
    • My thinking is that if the O2 sensor is shot then your entire above described experience is pure placebo.
    • Here is the mess that I made. That filler there was successful in filling dents in that area. But in the middle area. I can feel dents. And I've gone ocer it multiple times with filler. And the filler is no longer there because i accidently sanded it away. I've chased my tail on this job but this is something else lol. So I'm gonna attempt filler one more time and if it doesn't work I'll just high fill primer the door and see where the issues are because guidecoat is of no use atm.
    • Ok, so I think I sort of figured out where I went wrong. So I definitely overthinked it, and I over sanded, which is probably a large part of the problem. to fix it, I ended up tapping some spots that were likely to be high, made them low, filled them in, and I tackled small sections at a time, and it feels a lot better.    I think what confused me as well is you have the bare metal, and some spots darker and some are lighter, and when I run my finger across it, it' would feel like it's a low spot, but I think it's just a transition in different texture from metal to body filler.    When your finger's sliding on the body filler, and crosses over to the bare metal, going back and forth, it feels like it's a low spot. So I kept putting filler there and sanding, but I think it was just a transition in texture, nothing to do with the low or high spot. But the panel's feels a lot better, and I'm just going to end up priming it, and then I'll block it after with guide coat.   Ended up wasting just about all of my filler on this damn door lol
