Rb20det Kkr Turbo Kit?

Hey

Just saw the below kit on EBAY while I was looking for KKR turbos.

Just wondering if the turbo in that link below is an original KKR turbo, because it doesn't seem like it. The plate on the turbo in the EBAY link is different to the plates on the KKR turbos sold by Otomoto.

Has anyone bought/used one of these kits? They seem good value of money if it is an original KKR turbo as the KKR430 from Otomoto RRP is: $849 by it self.

I know the whole you get what you pay for thing, just keen to see/get more information about this kit, as KKR turbos have seen some pretty good results on RB's, and are good value for money$.

Specifications for KKR430core:

Compressor inlet pipe 69mm, compressor outlet pipe 50mm

48 trim compressor; inducer 53mm, exducer 76.5mm

Turbine wheel outlet 48mm, outer diameter 64.5mm

Kit includes:

- STAINLESS STEEL MANIFOLD

- KKR430 TURBO CHARGER

- 2 BOLT 38MM EXTERNAL WASTEGATE

- EXHAUST MANIFOLD GASKET, TURBO GASKET & WASTEGATE GASKET

like a lot of "cheap" turbochargers on ebay be aware

do some research, there are at least a dozen kkr / chinese / ebay turbo threads

most of them are full of "beware" "cheap" "crap" etc and the typicall compressor smashed wheel photos

so be warned and try at your own risk - they are cheap for a reason

there's a reason garrett charge about double for the same style turbocharger

probably due to the components, workmanship, relibabily, warranty and type of components

im no expert but i know when something is "too cheap" and $800 for a turbo sounds like this

it probably needs a few changes to make it fit

its probably more laggier and i suspect it wont be ball bearing

and its probably only oil cooled which has other implications etc

these are all covered to death in the KKR threads

have a read of all of them before forking over your money

and lastly i would recommend if you do go ahead

to have some money on the side in case of failure / engine issues

also if you do encounter problems speak to the supplier asap

do not send it to someone else or another workshop

as this could instantly void the warranty, they seem to have some wierd strict clauses on them

i mean for reference a good 2nd hand manifold is around $800 to $1000 ish

a reasonable wastegate i would expect around $400 ish ?

and the turbocharger a good reasonable one another $1500 to $2k

so yeah if the whole kit is like $1000 then it makes you wonder....

If its cheap, its cheap for a reason.

Also, if it looks to be priced as "too good to be true", again, another warning sign.

You can do things on the cheap ye, but if something fails (likely) then you end up paying more than if you outlayed the correct money on something decent to start with
