I am sure some of you already know about this (and there might be other posts on this matter - but I haven't read any)

There is a group going across sydney apartments breaking in to cars and taking everything.

They hit the apartment across the road from me two weeks ago, 80+ cars had smashed windows and anything of value was taken from inside. This is from underground 'secure' car parks with video surveillance. I am pissed that management did not bother to tell us the place across the road had been done, and so had others in the area.

The main reason I rented this apartment was because of the security parking - 2 security gates to drive in/out of the carpark.

My apartment building was hit Thursday night, and at first count 57 cars were broken into (that came from the window repair duder who was the only one that is coming out on top from all of this - so there were probably more that haven't had them fixed yet).

The little bastards broke through a fire door and must have had someone on lookout, but they got a lot of stuff - mainly GPS units, cash, sunnies and the like.

The window bloke said it has been happening all across sydney lately and he has never been so busy (but I don't think he is behind it all haha)

I am really really lucky that I ordered the wrong cams for my car and because of that, it was not ready in time to be picked up last Thursday.

They seemed to know what they were doing as they smashed front and rear windows in cars with alarms so they didnt have to open doors to check front and back.

Has anyone else had the same thing happen near them recently?

Same thing happened to a mate of mine. "Security" car park in unit block, lots of windows smashed including his R33. Pennant hills area.

Sucks big time...

Apparently they have been doing apartments too - whilst people are home too. The cops said its getting really bad at the moment.

I am not bringing my car home from the workshop because of this, and have moved expensive items from my apartment.

I move out in 3 weeks just need to not get robbed before then - super paranoid

And yes I have insurance - but huge excess.

Those "security" car parks are not in the least bit secure. I've had my wheels stolen from a previous place I lived in.

I thought you would have left for Queensland by now Heath? Get going!

I am going as fast as I can, 17 days to go, can't wait.

Car wont be ready though, it will be trucked up later/

Same thing happened to me when I lived in Chippendale (Ultimo area) but that was about 8 months ago.. we got them on camera but cops couldnt do much.. they hit at 2.30am on saturday night..

These guys knew they were on tape, looked straight at the cameras and stuck their fingers up. Wearing hoodies and sunnies.

I had no idea it was this bad in Sydney.

Happened to a mate of mine not too long ago, maybe 3 weeks. "Secured" apartment underground parking got broken into and they got into 30+ cars. Nobody saw or heard anything...

This happened a week after he moved into the place.

Some f**k stick tried to break into the house accross from home last night but the dogs were enuf to wake us. He was last seen running his ass off.

They should be hung. Honest people are getting shafted by them and are most likely paying their dole check. They are diceing with death these wankers.

That's a bitch.. I'm about to move out into an apartment but I think I'm going to ensure I get an older place which has a single lockup garage so I can install some extra security measures of my own..

My car's fully insured but it's all about the hassle.. I don't want to have to go through the whole process of getting the car fixed just because some scumbags decided they like my stereo system enough to steal it

Happened at my work maybe a month and a bit ago they just smashed windows and took nothing really valuable at all just mainly causing damage. My mate was on duty he went down there and attempeted to take him down but was threaened if he came any closer he would f**king stab him. He said he looked like a junky off the street chased him all the way through the city while on the phone to police biut not getting to close as he didnt wana get stabbed.

Happened when a resident came home and he snuck under the security gate as it was almost closed.

SCUM

Our apartment block got hit last night.. They hit the main garage and the one near the lifts.. They must of missed the GTR thank god becuase it was parked behind a ute. Apparently they took one of the buzzers from one of the cars.. It's a "secure car park" too..

Someone needs to stop this asap!

If they have a buzzer, they'll be back. Get the cars out ASAP

    • Well, yes, every CU on the bus is available via the Consult port, but whether the scanner you are using is capable of talking to the TCU, the ABS/TCS modules, etc etc, is what is at question here. Many of them are only for engine codes. So, if you have one of those, you won't know if the ABS is having a bitch.
    • That's now. R chassis Skylines come from a time when the tolerance in the ADRs was a bit more....slack. My car, on 235/35-17, which is damn near the exact same size as the original 205/55-16, is pretty much bang on correct indicated speed across the whole legal range. That's demonstrated with constant speed run over 5km, and GPS speed. It's just the luck of the draw. My particular speedo head has to be the thing that is "calibrated" that way, because everything else (the diff ratio, the gearbox and the speedo drive**) are all same same as most other Skylines. **OK, so the speedo drive is a Navara unit to drive the R32's cable, not the electronic unit than an R33/4 would normally have with teh same gear on it. Otherwise, I applaud your OCD tendencies, and I would do the same if I needed to.
    • Not too sure, I believe the Nissan consult port does everything? Also just filled up the reservoir to full and the light is still on. The float seems to move up and down fine.
    • The speedo's can be very conservative, when my Mazda NC MX5 speedo is showing 118kph, the GPS, and a calibrated radar.... cop mate.....hits me at around 110kph +/- 1 or 2 kph, and that is on a 215/45 17, stock tyres size is 205/45 17 as well, so weirdly conservative with stock tyre size When my Commodore speedo red 116kph GPS had me at 110kph on 255/40 17, so again conservative Google says manufacturers need to set the speedo from 4 to 10% slower than actual road speed.....for safety.....and compliance  After doing some offset and clearance measurements to see what can fit the NC on 17x8 +40, without guard rolling or rubbing anything at my current ride height, I've decided that when my tyres are toast, I'm going to fit 225/45 17 and see where that gets me IRT actual speed of my speedo and GPS/radar From the online calculator I should be still be doing around 5kph under an actual 110kph when the speedo is showing 110kph My ADHD requires that when I'm doing 110kph on the speedo, that the actual road speed is actually really close to that, and not alot slower And going from 205 to 225 still keeps the car within the %/mm allowable in the NSW vehicle rules and regulations, which is nice, as long as I'm looking at the latest version that is.....LOL https://www.nsw.gov.au/sites/default/files/2021-02/RMS-13.464-Light-vehicle-modifications-Vehicle-Standards-Information-No-6-November-2013.pdf
    • Take the value it measured as, and pick the closest range available that is above the reading on the screen.   Also, no point just testing the coils. Read what has been said again. You need to test all your wiring, everything.
