Hey guys,

Just thought i would give out some information on getting yourself a "Competition License" so you can compete in up coming events be it AHG, Wanneroo or a whole bunch of other events.

You will need one of 2 licenses. The CAMS License covers basically all events and venues in Perth (some exceptions of course). The the option is the AASA license which covers all events at AHG Driving Centre.

To get a CAMS License you need to be a member of a CAMS affiliated Club (SAUWA is not CAMS Affiliated) however there is several Perth clubs that are. All Fours and Rotaries, WASCC or even No Limit Events (Conditions apply with No Limits Events). Cost of the CAMS License is $88 per year, plus you car club membership. This is a very handy license to have if you want to do several forms of events. If you need any further info on this, check out CAMS website:

http://www.cams.com.au

Option 2 is the very cost effective AASA (Australian Auto Sport Alliance) license. THIS LICENSE IS ONLY USEABLE ON LIMITED EVENTS! This license is useable for all AHG/MC Motorsport events. Weather it be an MC Motorsport Autotest, or Sprint Series, or even a Club event, this license is permitted. The cost of this license is $50 per year. This gives excellent value for the occasional race at AHG. All our SAUWA Timed events will require this license at a minimum! If you need more details about this, check their website:

http://www.australianautosportalliance.com

I hope this infomation helps you out. SAUWA Is planning timed events for members in the new year so we suggest that you organise your license soon. All events are offered to members only...so if your not a member and want to race your Skyline against other Skylines, sign up now :)

Cheers

Brad

As said you need to be a member of an affiliated car club to get a CAMS license. The WASCC is particularly good value for money if you enjoy your motorsport. You get:

1. Access to all the events held there, which include the V8 (all days), truck races, drift events plus all the local stuff.

2. A voucher for a practice day where you get to do as many laps of the track as you can manage/be bothered.

3. Quarterly mag.

4. Plus loads of other stuff as per the www.wascc.com.au website.

Yes it is more expensive than some other affiliated clubs but there again you get much more value for your dollar. Hell if you take out the cost of just attending the V8 race for Sunday alone (With, say a pit pass) it is nearly half paid for.

I think AFARCC is the most cost effective way to join a CAMS Affiliated Club, but in order to join you will need to attend one of there monthly meetings.

No Limits is a good option too, but in order to join you need to participate in one of there events.

Just to clarify that a touch, you dont get free entry to ALL events at Waneroo raceway with WASCC membership.

Private events, such as NO LIMITS for example are not covered as its not a WASCC Event. However, it is still an excellent club at an excellent price if you attend enough events, plus you get the practise days quite cheap.

Yeah sorry - I should have been more clear. Something like free spectator entry to all WASCC events or similar. Private stuff is perhaps a different matter, but then again I have never been asked to pay for turning up to watch so I dunno.

In any case it covers the most expensive/interesting ones.

Actually while we are in the business of clarification the WASCC memberships are for the calender year, not from the date of application. So paying your subscription now will get you all of 2008 not from November 2007 to November 2008.

Cost is $220 for a silver membership, but you can also nominate an associate member for $165 (basically a season pass) Junior memberships are $60.

I sure hope that was the long track

Lots of Skylines at the No Limits Events, and I'm hoping to compete in some of the Speed Event Series next year.

i think i might just joint you paul, once the car is back up and running and very interested in hitting the track as much as i can

so brad is sauwa planning on holding events where a cams will be required or are we going to do mainly stuff at ahg my aasa is up in feb i think and interested in what i should get

cant really see me doing much at barbagello yet all im hoping for is mabe afew rounds of the sprint at ahg and another fun year of autotest along with whatever motorsport the club has

Gavin we would love to run our own events at Barbagallo, Jacks hill etc but we need more licensed drivers. I think for the short term future, our main events will be held at AHG on either skid pans, or circuit. I only plan to renew my AASA license.

    • Yes, I had ordered the spherical bushings at the same time as the rest. I have high hopes for the anti squat reduction kit.
    • Make sure you use the spherical bushes** on the lower arms, ifyou do that. ** at least, if not the whole replacement lower arm.
    • The tap for coolant flow control will be stuck open. It's not just the air door motor that dies.
    • Not really, but the heater box is pretty simple mechanically....if the door is one way the air bypasses the heater core and if it is the other way it goes through it for warm air.  If you are sure the actuator you moved manually is for the heater mix (there would also be one for output air direction) then I'd take the heater box out and see what is happening (you'll have to regass and re-coolant the systems afterwards) BTW pp724 onwards from the GTR workshop manual cover the system in good detail, it is probably worth checking. I think the IAT sensor might be a problem electrically for getting cold (if you got 24 error code not -24 it thinks the incoming air is -50c) and it covers how to test the sensor (although most likely it is either not plugged in or a wire is damaged)
