Thanks for the replies guys,

can anyone tell me though with regards to POD filters - i've been told that the pod filter has to be "separated" from the rest of the engine bay when you take the car over the pits?

Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks

Adam

Car was all engineered & given the ok, a bit of drama at the pits over the compressor surge but I won in the end, permits for pod, catch can, front mount & turbo. Says with my details other things like fuel pump & pressure regulator, boost gauge & exhaust aren't required to be added to the permit. With the exhaust part it says it's not required to be added because at the time of testing it was 86db @ 4000rpm, so I'll even have that to show if I get pulled over. Not that I'd get pulled over for the exhaust because those who know my car knows just how quiet it is :D (exhaust-wise...) Took it over with a few factory things to make it easier but what's gone back on there's nothing wrong with it like the rims, only the bov which ideally I'd like to change.

How did they test your exhaust noise?

Curious because if done in accordance with the DOT standard it is very particular about exactly where to measure, surrounding conditions, etc. Be nice to do a check the way the pits do it because I am pretty sure it would be a shortcut method.

Cheers

I asked one of the inspectors about that & he got me to put the car in an open space away from everything, revved up to 4000rpm & he measured it with the *insert whatever it's called here*

Then when the engineer came to inspect my car did the same thing at my house & took it out the front to do it, only difference this was from cold start so it was harder to get a regular reading because I couldn't get the revs to stick.

The thing about the surroundings is if you were doing it somewhere with other noise, then that also has to be measured as that could affect it, so if it's done somewhere with no noise it's calibrated to zero & won't give a false reading.

LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
    • Not to mention they drive like a bucket of bolts! yuck!
