I am after info on the HR31 Coupes, specifically the differences on the GTS & GTS-X. No one in Aus can give the actual difference or what sets them apart on the two models, or should I say 4 as they came with the old stove top light (86-late87) and the later with the Aussie style (87-88). I would take any info that was available on these cars. I myself have an late 87 Model GTS/GTS-X and would like to clear up what it actualy is.

thanks in advance

Check this out... go to the 7th catalogue from the right, it's the GTS 2-door at the top, then towards the bottom of the catalogue, you can see all the variants, including the GTS-X.

I CAN read Japanese, if you have any questions, but zooming in on this catalogue just makes the print blurry. Just do a simple cross-check with the pics interior/exterior first, then if you still can't firgure it out, I'll call SuperAutobacs...

The only thing I can see on those pics that sort of give a clue is that the GTS-X has a front spoiler and rear wing, the interior picks are a bit blury and cant make out anything. It would be very much appreciated if you could talk to SuperAutobacs as this has been a long standing conversation amungst us Coupe owners over here. Thanks for this Rezz.

I'd also be interested to know the answer on this one....looking at some of the pics in that catalogue it seems that some GTS-X's didn't have a rear spoiler as standard (!?!?) - look at the silver one on the 3rd page.

I would be better if the specs page was readable as that's probably where the info lies.

BTW Rezz...great info on that sight nonetheless

Yeah, damn that tiny specs page!

I just tried to buzz SuperAutobacs, and as you can imagine, just getting through to someone in the service dept (my Japanese is "adequate"...) was hard enough. The guy basically said *vaguely* "aaah, theres different materials used in the cabin... the GTS-X has a automatic front spoiler... why don`t you bring the car to us?"

I left it at that. I`ll get my wife (shes Jap) to call Nissan. I`m actually going down to SuperAutobacs this weekend for their annual car show, I`ll definately be able to finalize this once and for all then.

Interesting...my car has an auto-spoiler, but pretty sure its 'only' a GTS.

He didn't say *only* the GTS-X's have the auto spoiler... but at that stage I knew the guy hadn't turned his brain on to talk to me.

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
