Welcom to SAU's Japan Scrapbook. Here you'll find photos and comments from SAU members who either reside or visit Japan. The scrapbook is open to anyone with any photos they have of Japan, no matter how old or miscellaneous. Feel free to add any comments that may help the understanding of the associated picture, or any story/anectdote which you feel would compliment and add interest to the Scrapbook. This is by no means Nissan Skyline or even car related, but if the members choose to focus on those things it's up to them. Just a couple of things:

- Please only use photos taken in Japan

- Please keep questions related to the photos/posts themselves

- If you have an unrelated question or comment, don't use this thread

- Spam and unrelated posts will be deleted

Some enquiries were made if a pinned thread could be made to showcase members Japan photos, so this is a result of that. It's a work in progress and although it's not a necessity, if possible, upload photos to the SAU gallery as the photos will be hosted and visible to all as long as SAU is around... lets keep the 'red x' to a minimum!

--------------------------------------------

I'll get things rolling with a few photos I have lying around...

kobeatnight.jpg

This is the view of Kobe city from the front entrance of my apartment. I live 13 floors up in a building on Port Island which is a man made island in Osaka Bay. After the Great Hanshin earthquake in January 1995, some areas of the island sank into the bay, while other areas were flooded, giving rise to a rumour that eventually the whole island will sink into the bay. Not in our lifetime though...

herb_park.jpg

A 'reverse angle' of Kobe city (you can see Port Island in the background) taken from Herb Park, a park dedicated to all things herbs. There is a greenhouse on the side of the mountain which houses all sorts of tropical plants with a constant temperater of about 28 degrees celcius. The island that you can just see behind Port Island is Kobe Airport, a domestic airport built dispite the majority of local residents not wanting it.

minibeer.jpg

A really small can of beer. It cost 90 yen (almost A$1) and can be drunk in two mouthfuls. I'm not sure of the commercial value of such a small can, especially when most guys are searching for the biggest can they can find, but the novelty of drinking a tiny can of beer can't be denied. I bought a carton...

laurelceffy.jpg

A A31 Cefiro with C33 Laurel face. Theres an BNR32 GT-R front lip spoiler down there and an intercooler from a S13 Silvia/180SX...

inlaws.jpg

My inlaws house in northern Hyogo. They actually *own* 4 or 5 MOUNTAINS in the area, and sold one off to the government back in the mid-90s so they could build a new shortcut for the Sanyo expressway. They got a (dollar value) seven figure sum...

electrodunny.jpg

This is the CH6311NP 'Washlet' by National (Panasonic). It's a bidet with 3 levels of power, heated seat and infra red sensor to prevent the bidet from working while no one is seated. This one is pretty cheap, there are others that flush automatically and close the lid after you're done. My wife chose this one because it was pink ;)

r32_1-1.jpg

BNR32 GT-R by GT Shop Endless. Taken by me for www.7tune.com which will be back online shortly.

yakiniku.jpg

Yakiniku... Kalbi (the smallest pieces on the plate) is a 'must order'. The others are 'Tan' (cow tongue) and Rosu (loin cutlets). 29th August is YAKINIKU DAY in Japan.

transformation2.jpg

My old R32 Skyline before it got sent to Australia to become a drift car... ;)

sakura1.jpg

Sakura season has recently passed through western Japan. This is a tree in Ashiya.

Itami domestic airport north Osaka. This used to be the international terminal before Kansai airport was completed in the mid-90s.

IMG_0884.jpg

Karl (Curl?) Oojisan at a shopping mall out Ikeda way. Karl is the mascot for 'Curl' puff corn snacks. The Karl/Curl spelling is because Japanese pronunciation of 'Curl' (the shape of the snack) is like 'Kah-ru'. You had to have been there...

This car actually drove out of the parking lot like this.... no hydraulics.

Mitsubishi Minica Toppo getting destroyed at a Auto Wreckers in Amagasaki. As the car was getting crushed, bits of metal were flying around the place like bomb shrapnel, I narrowly missed getting hit in the eye :D

Thanks Christian  I knew you had some pics lying around somewhere...

Love the 'hole in the wall' style of LMP Cars too, really interested in places like that (Euro cars in Japan).
