This arvo I snapped the shaft in my turbs i think..... Im in the process now of pulling it apart and searching for a new turbs. In a perfect world ill buy a new turbs ie gt35rs, comp, inject etc etc but the money factor is a massive part.

Am I better to purchase another standard er34det turbo. ps what are they?? I've also heard that they are crap and im starting to believe this as i have a car with 76k on the clock and a snapped turbo shaft.....(10psi)max boost ever.

Or get a vg30det turbo apparently BB and bigger so perhaps a cheaper mod ill admit not a huge performance mod but maybe something a lil different.

please post or pm me what you think i need to make a decision rather soon cheers......

Brad

imo after having to swap to a vg30 for the same reason

although on a 33 S1 25 there alittle laggier and mine pulled better in the topend

however I put this down to the slightly bigger rear housing op6 on the vg30 I used

since you already had the bigger rear housing I think you'll see alittle more lag (200-300rpm) and no top end gain

What sort of power are you looking for mate? If you are happy with 200-215rwkw then just bolt on another stockie (make sure it has OP6 stamped on the ex housing, these are the VG30/R34 GTT turbos), if you want anything up to 250rwkw get you current one hiflowed so its bolts straight back in, looks stock and will make nice responsive power.

If you want anymore power then check out the RB25 power reults thread (stuck up the top of forced induction), this will give you an idea of what turbo (and other mods) you need to make the numbers.

    • Unsolicited advice? Keep the engine as close to stock as you can. Nothing wrong with adding some boost and making a little more power, but given where you are, you really don't want to try to make it into a monster. I can't imagine the roads are up to it, and the lack of locla support when it grenades will be a ball ache. FWIW, If there is a dyno around that you can access, then brand new injectors are a good idea, which will lead you to (at least) putting a Nistune in it, which will allow you to put an R35 AFM on it, all of which will make it possible to make it much much nicer to drive and live with.
    • List all of your mods. It sounds like an aftermarket ECU hitting rev limiter. Like a valet mode, or a cold rpm limiter?
    • @Kapr Haha yeah thats the one. I missed that you had a built up engine, I wouldn't want to run it on there either then. It was good in my situation just to replace the original turbo on a stock engine. @MBS206Yep definitely not a replacement for anything name brand
    • You are selling this? I have never bought something from marketplace...i dont know if i trust that enough. And the price is little bit "too" good...
