Didnt that thing get defected? and from what i heard there was no way that thing was ever getting back on the road.

my brother tried buying me the plates, but the guy that brought it from Tom wouldnt sell them :) I wish I had known I was going to buy a DR30, otherwise I would of gotten my sisters boyfriend to try and buy the plates before Tom sold it (he lives next door to Tom)

How much is that old drift pig going for anyway?

FJ20.com, would be your best bet, you see DR's pop up on there for sale everynow and again. Most DR's I see come up for sale generally get sold to mates and never really advertised. As for finding these DR's it's just a matter of who you know, I remeber back in the day when my car was still on the road, having 5 DR's parked in my driveway. I knew just about everyone with in adelaide with them, well people that mattered anyway (Boof would remember these times, haha). I know a bloke that has 6 FJ's sitting in his back shed so anytime I need parts I know exactly where to go, I don't let his name slip out too much though, cause I need all the contacts I can get.

Tom wouldn't sell the plates, trust me I tried on many occasions.

It must be fun living next to the monkhouses, I remember being there at 2am when Jack decided to start up the rally car running anti-lag just to show us how loud it was, haha.

cool, yea that sounds alright. so this guy lives where? lol

tom still goes 2 regency tafe i think if i ever see him ill ask about the dr but yea might just look at me weird.

mate said the car had fair bit of rust in it and chassis rails were all dented etc. drift car so gotta expect that. he wanted something mint cond. cos wanted 2 enter show or something as well. plates went with the car also.

should get a cruise crankin soon. me and another mate both have l24et r30s (well mine has dr chassis number?lol) so b gd 2 get some 80's nissans goin thru the hills or somethin...

My old work mate Phil has a L24et MR30 he built, that should be on the road soon aswell.... sounds like a plan

Josh is yours on or off the road?

and how is your car coming along boof? need to take some 'mirror' shots of our DR's together

yea met phil once while ago at a small r31 meet. bak then had rb30et 31. can just remember his mirror spec plenum lol. mate was talkin 2 him cos was about 2 bolt a sc14 onto his. did but went turbo in the end, only made 4psi and cbs gettin custom pulley made up.

bit of the old o/t now lol

We have been trying to get a 30 cruise up and happening for years but there has never been a point in time were we have all had our cars on the road or licenses at the same time, for some of us having either or is a problem :)

Josh is yours on or off the road?

Off and has been for nearly 3.5 years, it's sad to think about it. The most recent photo I have which was taken almost a year ago now and is still pretty much at the same stage just has a little more dust on it. It's close but it's still pretty far off because I'm so lazy, however everything on it is pretty much brand new, with a few thing you don't see very often done to DR's, the paint could also do with a bit of a rework I kinda stuffed it up a bit.

What are the extra things it has on it most other DR30's dont? or is it top secret :/

Im bout to order all the original badges through nissan, just over $400 worth :D

Wouldn't happen to know anyone in SA with a Mint Rear RS-X bumper? mine had a small graze/dent in it when i brought it, it shits me off hardcore! cos the rest of the car is dam clean!.... Im guessing I dont want to know the price of a new one through nissan so havnt asked yet :S

Your DR looks like a purple pimpin beast! Cant wait to see that on the road.

Yer i know Phil as well, met him once at my bro's house..

Mines coming along okies, trying to figure out insurance atm, broker rung me back tonight so i'll ring him in the morning see how that all goes...

Funnily enough i was thinking exactly the same thing when i seen your car there! Crimmo and i had both of those cars out on sunday afternoon when he had the old setup in it, quite the animal it was!!

Glenn : Whats written in front of your writing on the side of the car???

Edited by Boof

where are these DR30's??? Since I got mine I have seen 2, one just the other weekend on the freeway

When Crimmo had it, it was quite a beast, 260RWKW is what i got told!

Infront of the writing, it has a INTERCOOLER cut out of a gold rectangle, I saw it on a few DR30's in Japanese photos thought it looked pimpin'

Shane you would happen to know if Crimmo used the Factory colours when he re-sprayed the car.. better yet if he has any spare paint left??, just a few minor paint chips I want to touch up.

If you dont know, I can get my brother to call Crimmo and find out.

When its on the road let me know so we can do some snaps, How is Dans DR30 going along BTW?

Rack and pinion steering for one thing :D

As for a rear bar I wouldn't have a clue, Neame had one which someone had painted black which had started flaking but I think it went in the bin with the bent shell. Stuff that for badges, my car has been completely de-badged all of mine were a bit shitty anyway.

I can't wait either, if only I wasn't so lazy. I was way more enthusiastic when I started it. I just need to get moved into my house properly and bring down to my garage so I can actually work on it, it's currently stored up in my mates shed which is, way far away when you don't have a license. And with my new pay rise I should have a little money to finish it off :ermm:

Quite possibly he's an old schooler, way old school with an FJ 1600.

How does never sound? :D

Thats what my brother said aswell when he was over tonight, "why the f**k you want the other badges... keep it badgeless [still has RS Badges]" .... I dont mind them however

Grille S badge $59.05

Fender RS badge $66.90

Boot badge SYLINE $51.20

Boot DOHCTURBO RS $103.51

Boot X in gold $48.84

Seems abit f**ked... Reckon it could be anycheaper If I can get my friends old house mate to get some from a Japanese Nissan Dealer..... its like those proces are for shipping each badge invidually :ermm:

Phuk thats expensive man, cost me about $130-$140 for bonnet "S" badge and both front 1/4 R/S badges brand new ex-Japan. Seems there's way more of a DR scene in south oz compared to WA too, I reckon if I organised a DR cruise in Perth u could counT the turn out on 1 hand :P

    • I got back to Japan in January and was keen to get back on track as quickly as possible. Europe is god-awful for track accessibility (by comparison), so I picked up a first-gen GT86 in December just to have something I could jump into right away. The Skyline came over in a container this time and landed in early January. It was a bit battered after Europe, though—I refused to do anything beyond essential upkeep while it was over there. The clutch master cylinder gave out, and so did the power steering. I didn’t even bother changing the oil; it was the same stuff that went in just before I left Japan the first time. Naughty. Power steering parts would’ve cost double with shipping and taxes, so knowing I’d be heading back to Japan, I just postponed it and powered through the arm workout. It took a solid three months to get the car back on the road. Registration was a nightmare this time around. There were a bunch of BS fees to navigate, and sourcing parts was a headache. I needed stock seats for shaken, mistakenly blew 34k JPY on some ENR34 seats—which, of course, didn’t fit—then ended up having the car’s technical sheet amended to register it as a two-seater with the Brides. Then there’s the GT86. Amazing car. Does everything I want it to do. Parts are cheap, easy to find, and I don’t care what anyone says—it’s super rewarding to drive. I’ve done a few basic mods: diff ratio, coilovers, discs, pads, seat, etc. It already had a new exhaust manifold and the 180kph limiter removed, so I assume it’s running some kind of map. I’ve just been thrashing it at the track non-stop—mostly Fuji Speedway now, since I need something with higher speed after all that autobahn time. The wheels on the R34 always pissed me off—too big, and it was a nightmare getting tires to fit properly under the arches. So I threw in the towel and bought something that fits better. Looks way cleaner too (at least to me)—less hotboy, less attention-seeking. Still an R34, though. Now for future plans. There are a few things still outstanding with the car. First up, the rear subframe needs an overhaul—that’s priority one. Next, I need to figure out an engine rebuild plan. No timeline yet, but I want to keep it economical—not cutting corners, just not throwing tens of thousands at a mechanic I can barely communicate with. And finally, paint. Plus a bit of tidying up here and there.
    • Nope, needed to clearance under the bar a little with a heat gun, a 1/2" extension as the "clearancer", and big hammer, I was aware of this from the onset, they fit a 2.0 with this intake no problems, but, the 2.5 is around 15mm taller than a 2.0, so "clearancing" was required  It "just" touched when test fitting, now, I have about 10mm of clearance  You cannot see where it was done, and so far, there's no contact when giving it the beans Happy days
    • It's been a while since I've updated this thread. The last year (and some) has been very hectic. In the second-half of 2024 I took the R34 on a trip through Germany, Italy, France and Switzerland - it was f*cking great. I got a little annoyed with the attention the car was getting around Europe and really didn't drive it that much. I could barely work on the car since I was living in an inner-city apartment (with underground parking). During the trip, the car lost power steering in France - split hose - and I ended up driving around 4,000kms with no power steering.  There were a few Nurburgring trips here and there, but in total the R34 amassed just shy of 7,000kms on European roads. Long story short, I broke up with the reason I was transferred to Europe for and requested to be moved back to Japan. The E90, loved it. It was a sunk cost of around EUR 10,000 and I sold it to a friend for EUR 1,500 just to get rid of it quickly. Trust me, moving countries f*cking sucks and I could not be bothered to be as methodical as I was the first time around.
    • I assume clearances were all a-okay?
    • Shock tower brace is in +5Kw....LOL
