To all,

Please be very careful and mindful of where you park at Miranda Fair!

Make sure you park either right out the front of a main door, in security parking, or where there are security cameras.

In some instances it may cost you a couple of bucks, but it will save your car from being damaged or worse, STOLEN!!

I was at Miranda with a friend of mine in her S15 yesterday. At about 2.00pm we returned to her car to find another car double parked behind her. As we got closer the driver whistled and a bloke ran out from next to her car. I couldn't get his number plate as i was kinda confused as to what was goin on.

He ran off with a cloth and something else in his hand. Walked round the carpark and couldn't find them.

On further inspection, we noticed scratches at on the plastic trim at the very top of the drivers window.

What this bloke was doing was pulling back the window to press the unlock button with a long piece of wire on the drivers door trim.

NOTE: Most import cars have pillarless doors, thus making it extremely easy to pull the window back and get access to that door unlock button.

There was a thread a while back in the DIY security section - HOW TO DISABLE DOOR UNLOCK BUTTON!

I urge all of you to follow that 1 simple step as i did when i first got my car.

This will only allow the door to lock with that button - only way to unlock is with a key now!

dude!! you've come the closest to seeing these guys in action! surely you could at least remember the car? or anything noticeable about it.

they've hit a few people's cars from here so any info would be great.

Doof - yeah, it was her car... it don't flutter no more, i put all the hose back together so the car runs a little more efficiently...

All I can tell you is that the guy are two mid 20's middle eastern appearance men in a shit box old gold car.

Maybe on old pulsar or old Mazda 323 or 626

I'll do a search and find out exactly what it was...

Unfortunatly we didn't get number plates as they were old faded ones.

In Miranda hey.. Jesus.. I thought that was one place my vehicle was safe, luck I dont go there much these days.

Anyone got a link to this page about disabling the locking mechanism or whatever?

You are very very lucky indeed... Back in 2005 I was parked there whilst doing some shopping with my girlfriend. Not being from the area and definitely not expecting it to be so dodgy; I parked in a bad spot. Came back to find both my passenger side windows smashed - they only took my head unit face plate.

From that day on I swore never to return to Miranda in any vehicle...

Anyways... if I were you I'd take this as a stroke of luck that you got away with scratches only. I'd have given my left nut to have seen the people who did that to my car.

Funny thing was that despite my alarm going off etc; not one person did / said anything to anyone (according to the posts in my thread about it; at least one SAU member saw what happened).

I'll hand out flyers

dude.. seriously. you dont turn reasonable people into crims by stating the obvious. someone who wants to get into your car WILL get into your car, they wont search the forums to find out how. i mean, i can tell you how to break into each and every car without damaging anything. anyone in 'the business' will already know.

true, but id rather the ones that dont know, still not know.

e.g some young punk reads that then tell his older brother(theif) tells his mates = bad news

A car being pillarless or not, my alarm goes off if someone flicks the switch from the inside? If you don't have an alarm, would you even consider parking your car in a shopping centre?

And side note, why the hell did you connect those hoses back up? Fark performance, it sounded fat as when I heard it on Sunday night :P I was gonna ask ya what made it that loud...

$4 security parking all day ftw :D

lol, long term its bad for your turbo, same as blocking off your blow off valve to get the flutter uleh...

just wanted change i guess... conservative ppl should get over it...

quite interesting. on tuesday a gold mazda 626 was seen parked at mcgraths at sutherland outside the nissan dealership. it was next to a r33 gtr. when the staff approached the car took off at high speed. could be the same people. staff took the rego no. of the car.

Thanks for mentioning that Greg. It would interesting to find out who the car belongs to etc etc.

I will contact them tomorrow RE: the rego number

Also, i think i will keep my car, so i will need to talk further to you about converting my car to manual.

When you get it publish the plates and we can hunt them down... I would say 99% certain they either live somewhere around hurstville or bankstown/ that place next to it .. forgot its name :S

And im always there!

Replace the turbo when its broken as opposed to upgrading a perfectly fine one sounds better when you have to tell the olds :P lol

    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
