When i turn on the air con at idle the car stalls, and if i turn it on when i drive i can hear engine noise and smell burnt rubber.

My mechanic said the A/C compressor has seized and the belt spins on it. Advised new compressor.

Does this sound like the solution. I wouldn't know and want to be sure before i go buying parts.

Thanks :P

Your Noobness could never be tolerated.. get outa ere :(

It would be the big thing, connected to the belts at the front of the engine?...

There aren't too many there, look for the thing with high pressure metal lines connected to it, that isn't the PS pump.

This should prolly be in General Maintenance section
