Which silicone do I use to put on my coil packs to help the missfire on boost? There's a lot of different kinds, like the gasket stuff and the spray silicone, but can someone give me a picture or the name brand and which type of which one to use please? Also, is silicone the best thing to use, because I have seen posts about people using clean nail polish and heatwrap and stuff. I HAVE SEARCHED TOO!

Thanks,

Mike

Selleys 401 is the one i used. Its industrial grade high temp silicone, used as an insulator, amongst other things. You can get it at bunnings.

It's probably just as important to clean the contacts on your coils, where the spring sits.

The last thing i tried was stretching each spring about 8mm longer, to make a better connection with the spark plug. I havent had a misfire since, but then the weather hasnt been freezing cold, so it may be due to that.

Thanks a lot.

no that wont work. that's more like a lubricant. get the 401. it's only $10.

Okay, the problem is that I live in USA and we don't have bunnings. Do you know of any other brands? Or any other stores I Can get it at? I don't think USA has shellys

what is the silicone supposed to be used for? ie, painting, flooring, ect? Is it like the caulking stuff?

it's used to seal glass on oven doors, and also used as an industrial electrical insulator.

not sure of an equivalent product, but there would be something.

here's the selleys 401. it's the only pic i could find

seal the whole underside of the coil, up to the bracket. leave the stem uncoated, as you need to fit the rubber boot over that. also make sure you clean those contacts. u can see mine are shiny gold. they were a dull grey when i started.

awesome. thank's a lot.

no worries man.

have you made sure your missfire isnt caused by your spark plugs? 0.8mm gap is highly recommended, although nissan specify 1.1mm

and many people have found the copper plugs to be better than the platinums/iridiums, that are also recommended.

    • Yes, I know🙄 but the sequential is not in my budget... don't want to reduce power neither, so looks like I'm stuck in the rabbit hole🤣

    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
