I got my windows done at Solar Tint: http://www.solartint.com.au/ They have a lifetime warranty and did a good job...nice guys too! they have a place in Melbourne, see the website for info...

as for alarms, I have a Brant (along with many other members of this forum!). They are fitted by Suburu in the factory for lots of their cars, including WRX & STI's.....you can get lots of different ones depending on what you need, but I just got the basic one which was only around $600. They fit them all over Aus including Melb..

see http://www.brant.com.au/

go the brant, they are an awersome alarm!!! got the nemesis model and i haven't looked back since getting it - was paraniod about security before it was fitted, no it doesn't even cross my mind!!!

no idea about window tint sorry!!!

hey aZn_RoMeO,

what i found with the brant car alarm, is that it provided a "piece of mind" that none of the other car alarms that i could find did.... pretty much the only way that they can steal this car and the company has said this as well is if someone has a forklift thing and physically lifts the car from wherever u left it onto a flat-tray truck and then move the car away - but even then they will have a hell of a job to either get the car started or workout how the alarm functions as it's all in black wiring (so what u say - i can get this from strathfield or wherever) but if any wires are cut the car is dead - 6 point engine protection - it's got ultrasonics + incar sensors, passive rearming (it really is as well!!!) and if the battery is disconnected as i found out last week then the only way to stop the siren's is to enter the master code into the pinpad ( + along with all the normal features of a car alarm).

here are the features from their website on the nemesis:

Features –

Remote codehopping operation + BRANTS famous PIN code entry system

Six (6) engine immobilisers

Dual siren system (one self powered siren outside – one inside)

Ultrasonic movement detectors + 2 stage impact shock sensors

Keyless entry

Electric window operation (option)

Remote panic

Passive immobilisation

Auto rearm in case of accidental switch off

False alarm lockout

Detects intrusion via doors, boot/hatch, bonnet, windows, sunroof + immobilises the engine in 6 places.

And much more…

look, i'm in no-way affiliated with them, and personally the cost that are associated with it are pretty high, but for me it way the peace of mind factor of making theft of my precious skyline 0% (as close as possible to it anyway) - i think the costs are something around the $1000 - $1100 mark for the nemesis - but if u think u don't need all that protection, then go for one of the simplier models, (and i think, but don't quote me on this, that these can be upgraded by adding extra components later to make a nemesis model).

i hope this helps, but if your in melbourne give angi a call and have a chat to her, very good and always willing to help even after i bought the alarm - otherwise i'm pretty sure there is an outlet in every state....

sh^t thanks for all that help man.

I was thinkin about Boomerang. Same Price slightly cheaper.

But u kno. it comes with cool features. auto armin with brakes.

auto windows n sunroof, T timer, auto start stuff like that.

But man. 6 point immoboliser? Sh^T thats goos Sh^t

U sure around 1000, 10-1000 mark? installed?

And whos angi? i'm in sydney.....but/.how old is she?

ok firstly - u can get the auto features added to the alarm like i did but they are extra - i think the auto windows up feature was something like 148 dollars for both windows - the nemesis itself was 1098 installed

haha, angi - that's the name of the company that does the installation in melbourne and the person who runs it is called funnily enough angi - but if u wanted to get in contact with the sydney one these are their contact info.

K thanks alot man.

Which model did u have?

and problems with turbo timer install?

and does Brant Nemisis have an auto start feature?

coz i went to the website. doesn't say. I just sent an email for info but yea just wondering if u kno or have any of these features

hahahha...angi is a company? LOL

the nemesis model, there is no problems with turbo timers, cause within the keypad control there is a feature which can be turned on/off for turbo timer feature - as far as i know there is no auto start feature but as i've read from other people with it on the forums it's a novelty thing and lasts about a week - bit like my auto feature for the windows i guess (forget i got it installed and almost always put the windows up myself!!!) yeah it's A.N.G.I. technologies, lolz

    • You’ll want to have the block drilled and tapped to suit 1/2in head studs and the head for the same. How much power do you intend to make?
    • Sorry for resurrecting an oldish thread Not much has happened in the past year since the last update. The car did another 1000 miles or so and failed the MOT for the first time in October (failed on tyres which had been advised for a couple of years) In October the car got put up for sale and was removed in November due to no interest, being so close to christmas it was to be expected. The roads were dry in February so I decided to tax it early and get the new tyres fitted.   Fast forward to April, I got someone in to give the car a good clean after sitting for the winter.                                 The car got re-advertised and today (Saturday 3rd May) the car sold. The new owner is planning a GTR conversion at some point and a respray in the same pearl white. It's bitter sweet, it's a shame to have the car sit there for half the year and then only do 1000 miles. The kids are growing too quick and space in the back is getting limited. It's been a great 6.5 years of ownership
    • And if you want more power, more reliably, and cheaper, go get the Aussie RB... The 4L Barra and put that in instead.
    • No cats will keep discolouring the rear bar. Sends white paint a weird yellow stain. Cut and polish normally gets it out, but you'll be doing that every fortnight I found.
    • Both heads will be equally reliable or unreliable depending on what you do to them.  Stock the RB26 head will flow more. You have access to the stock intake ITB manifold on the RB26 cheaply which flows really well(1000hp+).   Arguably more aftermarket support for RB26, though in Aus we love our RB30 SOHC heads too.    The only downsides to the RB26 head is if you have a VL commodore and want to keep the SOHC look.  Where you may have an issue is drilling out the rb30 block for the bigger head studs but if you are building a big power motor you'd probably put bigger studs on the SOHC head too.  This is just about finding a good machine shop, sometimes easier said than done.  RB30 head worked can make big power just like a Rb26 head, so really it actually more comes down to what your preference is for your car.  People now even making billet versions of both.
