Hey Guys,

I am looking to get some Recaro SR's or some Brides or so for my GTR in the near future, i wanted to know what people had and how they found them. I have found some OBX seats for sale which look really nice and they are ADR compliant, but i have never heard of them... and they have a universal fit thing, so they fit to any sub-frame? i dont know how i feel about that.. does anybody know about these seats?

Christian.

I have a Recaro in my GTS4. I had a Stratos for a little while (while the Recaro was being adapted to a Brides base) - it wasn't too bad, but it showed its age.

With the Recaro, you can sit a bit lower in the car because the cushion is firmer. It gives much better lateral support, and it gives much better support under the thighs and behind the knees. It's not until you go back the the factory seat that you realise how good the Recaro really is.

The advantage is that you get to keep the seat if you sell the car, and the car gets sold with a near perfect (factory) seat.

I think i have a pair of SR's in my car, i tried looking for the exact model a while back and didnt have much luck.

seats

anyway, they are awesome seats, very comfortable and would recommend them..

They hold you in very well around all sorts of corners and give a greater feeling that the car is sticking to the road alot better as your not being thrown around :)

If i knew a place in Sydney that stocked Recaro's and had them on display i probably would have bought a recaro a long time ago.

I was in my mates 100% stock WRX last saturday and the recaro's in that car are absolute brilliant. They hold u in like nothing else and u really get a more comfortable ride its unreal.

What are Recaro's worth brand new? $1000 onwards?

I have a Recaro SP-G as my drivers seat in the Supra. This seat holds you in like nothing else. Compared to the stockie Supra seat (which is crap as it sits you too high and has no significant lateral support) the difference when cornering is like night and day - the SOTP feedback from the car is so much better it inspires greater confidence when taking corners etc.

It also sits you lower to the floor, so if you are tall, then the bonus is greater headroom!

I also have a Recaro SR-III as the passengers seat. Not quite as snug as the SP-G, but then it is a recliner. It is very comfortable, probably more so than the SP-G, as there is more room to move around in it, and the shell is much softer.

Both the above seats sit on Bride rails.

Where did I get them - came with the car, so I have no idea how much they would cost.

I also have a Recaro Pole Position and SR4 in the R33, but havent spent much time in it yet, so I probably dont have much in the way of constructive comment. Let me just say that its MUCH easier getting in and out of the Pole Position than it is out of the SP-G!!!

Cheers,

Chris :)

benm, the Recaro SR's retail for $1k, then rails are another couple of hundred. Roman Autotek are the distributors for Recaro - i'll go out and sit in a few before i buy some.

i just dont like my stock GTR seats.. they are way uncomfy for me.

    • Depending on how long the car sat it is very possible for injectors to be stuck open or closed, I'd get them cleaned and flow tested. Other than that, obviously when the loom changes and the car doesn't start any more....the loom is suspect so some tracing / comparing may be required
    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
