Thanks for everyone who has posted, it's great to see such a positive response. So far it's looking like a monday or wednesday night, so if you haven't posted yet and have a preference please do so by tomorrow night.

Qikr33 - thanks for the offer. At this stage the officer who has contacted me was a hoon squad sargent, who does field work (as in chasing people around). He also mentioned he can bring a police mechanic, so I will confirm this with him when I next speak to him. I'll let you know how it goes.

Boxhead - yes, I'll be happy to take notes. I actually want to see if we can get documentation we can copy from the police on this, and also take minutes and get the police to then "sign off" on them to say that's what happened.

Bryanlee - thanks for the offer. I'm not sure we should video it, but I will suggest it to the guy next time I speak to him. Are you coming? Wasn't sure from your post.

Krys - are you coming or toasting someone?

Ok, please post if you haven't done so already and advise availability. After tomorrow I will persue the venue and confirm that, and also being asking for questions to be submitted as it would be good to give these guys some notice of what we are after.

Thanks again to all.

I won't be able to make it (I'm in Toowoomba during the week) but good luck with the meeting, and I must say that it's fantastic to see someone taking POSITIVE steps toward legal modifications. It makes a nice change to the constant bitching about "dam piggaz, jus got dun" - complete with dodgy spelling ;)

A couple of questions for them though:

1. Is it possible for a pod filter to be legal outside of a sealed box if it's engineered? If so, are there any further requirements?

2. In QLD, what is the story with aftermarket ECUs? Does it just have to pass roadside emissions tests, or does it have to go through some kind of re-compliancing? Is programmable injection OK?

3. What about intercoolers?

Thanks all for your suggestions so far. This is what's new:

1. It will be on a monday night

2. The venue is sorted - Bob Jane Toombul

3. Start time aiming for 6pm for food, with 6.30 kick-off

I will be rining the police to confirm a date, hopefully tomorrow. I am looking to do this on the 18th or 25th of next month, depending on the availability of the police.

As soon as there is a date set I will setup a new thread with a list of names of people coming, and then open it up for questions to be submitted. I would like to send them into the police a week before hand so they can research if required.

Thanks again to all who have posted. Feel free to post in here if you can make it, or if you now can't. I hope to be able to have the final date and time up by the weekend.

Thanks

good shit....wish we could organise similar in VIC..

guess the laws are different.. but will be interested in the feedback and the attitude presented by the cops. Notes i will be interested to read, for general consumption.

    • I don't. I mean, mine's not a GTR, but it is a 32 with a lot of GTR stuff on it. But regardless, I typically buy from local suppliers. Getting stuff from Japan is seldom worth the pain. Buying from RHDJapan usually ends up in the final total of your basket being about double what you thought it would be, after all the bullshit fees and such are added on.
    • The hydrocarbon component of E10 can be shittier, and is in fact, shittier, than that used in normal 91RON fuel. That's because the octane boost provided by the ethanol allows them to use stuff that doesn't make the grade without the help. The 1c/L saving typically available on E10 is going to be massively overridden by the increased consumption caused by the ethanol and the crappier HC (ie the HCs will be less dense, meaning that there will definitely be less energy per unit volume than for more dense HCs). That is one of the reasons why P98 will return better fuel consumption than 91 does, even with the ignition timing completely fixed. There is more energy per unit volume because the HCs used in 98 are higher density than in the lawnmower fuel.
    • No, I'd suggest that that is the checklist for pneumatic/hydraulic adjustable systems. I would say, based on my years of reading and complying with Australian Standards and similar regulations, that the narrow interpretation of Clause 3.2 b would be the preferred/expected/intended one, by the author, and those using the standard. Wishful thinking need not apply.
    • Yes they do. For some maybe. But for those used the most by abusers, ie Skylines, the numbers are known. The stock eyebrow height for R32/3 Skylines is about 365/375mm or thereabouts. The minimum such heights are recorded in adjacent columns in the database.
    • Hmmm, interesting. Makes me wonder whether there is bias as well. It's the cheapest fuel, so it is used for all kinds of ill-maintained shitboxes which are bound to have issues regardless. Nicer cars tend to require higher octane rated fuel and can't use it anyway. FWIW, the official NSW E10 facts page is decent.
