Folks I felt the need to start this as I have been told parts for the V35 are impossible to get. My insrance co is having difficulty so I thought Id :

1. Ask?

2. See if we need to source parts ourselves/myself?

I am speaking of the non drive train bits as they are same as local Nissan Zed....but Panels, head and tail lights and smash repair items.

If there is no source I am happy to research our options.....but I do not want to reinvent anything.

Hi mate, I'm going through this process currently with my 35.

Haven't found they are hard to get, just very expensive. It's your repairers responsibility to source parts, in this instance through Nissan. If they can't or can't be bothered - go somewhere else. And yes most places give you the option of sourcing parts yourself as soon as insurance clears the payment. Have you got any quotes yet?

Thanks for the feedback.

I have not got quotes back yet as they are having trouble geting the availability and prices. The local Nissan dealer is very friendly and my son is a mechanic there so they are helping. I have gone to the repairer used by his dealership and recommended by insurer and hope they get the job.

Once I get the quotes and further down the track I'll keep posted.

What I'd like to do is put up a parts list and references to where they can be sourced so we can all learn of each others exoeriences and not have to reinvent things.

If folks know of parts they have sourced please tell us. Also of sources and repairers who are familiar with these cars. I'm happy to sort and maintain a list if that is permissable.

Cheers guys....

PS: it still drives like a dream even though it may look broken from the front parssenger side. A pleasure to just get in and drive it.

www.japanparts.com have plenty of factory parts and factory option parts like headlights, foglights etc. give it a try, but it may not have like std bumper although you can tell your insurer or repairer to give it a try maybe they can source the full factory part from nissan japan and ship it down here.

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
