Hi all,

picking up myself a 97 r33 on Friday and have already ordered a kit online to throw on it. Does anyone know someone in Perth that good for installing kits and painting? Preferbly near Bayswater or near a train line (so I can get to and from there easy enough)?

Thanks in advance! :(

My advice would be that you just get the kit painted and fit the kit yourself. It's really not that hard and you can use the extra cash on something else.

Honestly not much work if the kit was designed and made good, but if it requires more work for it to fit (modifying it to fit), then get them to do it.

Sorry I couldn't give a place which would do it though.

I think it may need a bit of work... will find out when it comes next week. But I also was thinking of doing a respray of the whole car too so I would defantly need someone for that. There are a couple of panel beaters around the area so I will ask them but was wondering if anyone new one that had done a good job on theirs before and could recommend.

But once the kit is on, painted and I get the new rims I will post a pic

If you're planning on respraying the whole car then yeah, just give them the car, kit and let them do everything. While they fix up any dents, they can modify the kit to fit perfect.

Theres only one decent operator. - Fibre vision in Welshpool

Last time I visited fibre vision it was a place that made kits not paint whole cars at any type of quality .Granted this was some time ago and unless the owner has changed then I could not see him being the only desent guy out there let alone desent at all .

I would recomend looking outside bayswater as well as there's great shops in Malaga wanneroo etc area .

I would also post up what you would be wanting to spend as this would help with where people can point you to .

IF it was just a body kit then I guess most shops would do a good job but if its the whole car then I would choose a little more carefully .

Fibre vision would not be one of my options for a desent job .

Getting mine done at Cowleys smash Repairs in Cannington when kit arrives, recomended by few forum members(Mitch & Steve) who had their cars done there. If u pop in to see Brett he's a very helpful bloke. Fibrevision was on the cards but ive heard mixed reactions with them. Also Dave one of the ex-Fibrevision fellas is now at Cowleys.

Search in W.A. section for more info.

Fair comments gents - i meant for fitment of aftermarket and fabrication parts not spray painting. I must admit it was over two years ago that i dealt with Fibre Vision - no doubt some other decent entities have also evolved and or persons that i have no dealings with - i was simply directing you to a person that i had personally dealt with and found sound in character and promise as prefer that ratehr than recommending on here say.

By the way - i have lost my contact for the Nengun style DO Luck GTR32 front bar - they were on E Bay - any one know where i can locate them or a bar please?

    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
