Hey,

My car came with some unusual tyres from Japan, they are not correctly speed rated for a GTR on Australian roads so they were replaced during compliance.

I believe they are snow tyres and look very new, plenty of tread on them.

Where can I sell tyres like this?

They were on the stock R33 17*9 rims, so 245/45/17 I think :)

Regards,

Gareth

just find out how good they smoke up?

Hahaha, how about you pay me some $$$, buy them and you can do whatever you like with them :)

Pics attached they are Yokahoma Iceguard and they are 245mm wide.

sell em to some drifters on nissansilvia.com

Might be a good idea, I don't have enough rating to post in the for sale section yet but I'll see what I can do ;)

Yeah im with Jar drifters love them. Or if you want to learn to drift or thinking of doing deca keep them.

On a GTR?

The R31 just won't fit tyres this large :P

I actually might keep it for Deca, that would be a lot of fun and I can save my normal tyres.

I'll get to Deca eventually probably later this year.

Thanks for the advice

snow tires are worthless we get them for free.

They are like jelly for drifting so there shit, in the wet they are horrificly dangerous - youd think snow tyres would be good in the wet - they are more dangerous that tyres on belt in the wet!!!

They are only good for a good burnout session becuase they LAST for AGES!!

I used snow tyres once before on the GTR @ DECA and they were slippery. But not in a good way.

I thought snow tyres are designed to work @ a very low temperature to suit ice / snow conditions. Therefore they go off a lot quicker. So wont ripping skids @ DECA just delaminate the tyres very quickly. I know mine didn't last long @ high temperatures.

I have those exact tyres (same profile everything) on the back of my supra right now.

........and they SUCK!!!

The rear wobbles around heaps, they offer no grip, and they make so much damn noise - i hate them

(i knew i was buying crap tyres, but never knew just how bad they are)

Honestly, if i was given them for free all i'd do with them is go and do a few skids then get rid of them

EDIT: They're only rated to 80k's aswel which is pretty annoying. But mine have held together multiple times at a 3 digit number that i wont say on a public forum

Nah, there is less surface area touching the road due to the bumps/divots hence less traction. They are also not designed to channel the water very well so the aqua plain. Now I know less surface area is generally better in the wet eg. thin tyres will get more traction in the wet because the weight is distributed over a small area but not with snow tyres, they are just plain shit :P

I'd say your stuck with them mate, no one wants them lol.

PS - Pisser Troy!

ok i found a buyer....he wants to know if he can pay by paypal as there is no banks around him....or he will make a "direct deposit"

paypal accepted, although considering he's more like a charity-type organisation I think I might donate.

Thanks for the serious replies, I guess I won't be using them at DECA :P

Oh, ylwgtr2 I think this thread needs you:

Who Thinks Non-gtr Owners Should Very Nicely Shut Up About How/what Gtr's Are Actually Like To Own And Drive. Mmmkay? But, Supra Owners Own All!, SUPRA POWA ! ! ! ! :)

    • After using a protractor for an actually accurate assessment of what is required,  and by NOT using my uncalibrated eyeball I worked out I need a 25° silicone bend from the TB ro the MAF, but, my choice was either a 30° or a 23° (23° is a weird spec), so I grabbed the 23° one from Raceworks I also grabbed 1mtr of 3" straight from Just Jap, I needed 350mm, but they only had 300mm, or 1mtr lengths....meh Also ordered a 1/2" hose bulkhead fitting from fleabay, this has a smoothish mushroom looking head (they are designed for below the water line of boats) that will fit inside the bend, the hose bit and threaded bit looks to long, but nothing that a hacksaw cannot fix if required, the hose will then just get jamed on the threaded bit up to the retaining nut Fingers crossed and the unsightly amount of hose clamps will be reduced down to 4 once all the parts arrive
    • Oil change does not trigger code 21. Code 21 is for coilpacks primary side connection. You can try to clear the code with a battery disconnect, hold down the brake pedal to drain capacitors through the brake lights with the ignition on for 10-15 seconds before you reconnect the battery. I have seen R35 coil conversion permanently cause this code with no ill effects so it might be the resistance it wants to see isn't quite right on one or more coilpacks. Could be inside the ECU, could be the harness, could be a coil. You can test it all if you want or just ignore until the car actually starts misfiring.
    • I forgot you have a Nistune ECU. Use Nistune to do all the tests I mentioned instead of faffing with 30+ year old electrical connectors. You can read MAF volts off that too, there are reference values in the service manual to tell you roughly what it should be in different conditions.
    • No. I think it might be the AFM. Hence the use of the terms "swaptronics", which implies the use of swapping out electronics for the purpose of diagnosis. It's about the only way to prove that a small/niggling/whatever problem with an AFM or a CAS or similar is actually caused by that AFM/CAS/whatever. A known good item swapped in that still gives the same problem is likely to be caused somewhere else. They're all the same. Spraying AFMs with cleaner is an each way bet between cleaning it and f**king it.
    • Oh wow! This might actually work amazingly. Do you know the ratio of the diff? I was told the only thing you need to make sure of is if the front & rear diff ratios are the same. Ours is a 4.083 Thanks!
