hey guys,

i wanna take my car down to calder park and run it on their on friday 29th feb. there is no special event as such, its just the standard friday night off street drags. my car is standard bar the exhaust and pod. just interested to see if any1 is interested in coming along with me.

time: 7:0pm registration ($65 per car which includes 1 "pit" member)

location: calder park raceway, calder freeway, sydenham.

registration for racing can be made during the day or on the night when we get there. also for those wanting to race, a helmet is needed, jut your ordinary motorbike helmet is fine, if dont have 1, they are available to rent on the night for $20.

cheers

daniel

7pm can get towards the busy end as thats when most people arrive.

If you get there about 6.30pm - you can usually get out on the track and have 5-7 good runs before many more cars come out :(

But then Calder isnt as busy anymore due to muppet management, so you might be ok

calder is shit dont wast your time

1.shit track

2.pathetic price

3.long waits

Heathcote FTW

Why dont you all go to Heathcote on a Sunday meet up at like 9pm at Kmart in Cambo and depart from there

1 hour to get ther, $45 to run and you can run with a passenger.. Privately owned so no bullshit and is a good environment, and there is no waiting to run...

I believe its worth it

we go to heathcote as a club about twice a year and its a lot of fun in many ways.

however what isnt alot of fun at heathcote is the frustratingly slow times with the track lacking traction.

i want to go to calder a couple of times to get a better indication of what my car does..

was at calder 2 weeks ago and there were plenty of cars and a reasonable crowd too. if people wanna meet up earlier to run im happy to do that. all i know is that on the 29th ill be running down there, if there are more skylines there then we can all have a ball together and see who gets bragging rights.

SLYNE: your right bout heathcote being a reasonable track tho the moeny you waste in petrol to go there you dont save enought to be worth while. plus calder is close.

R33SilverS2: the longer you stay the better the niht gets, more rubber gets laid down as the night wears on and the air gets cooler. in a good night you might get 10+runs if u stay til the end, on a busy night, 5?

i run a better time at heathcote then calder

My uncle also ran a better time at Heathcote

Calder - 13.1

Heathcote - 12.7

319rwkw!

Doesn't mean a lot to me... especially with 300rwkw... unless your driving a 2tonne beast, 300rwkw is 11's territory

Shows an inconsistent (and slow car) as opposed to the track IMO.

Cant base track condition of a time slip from either track.

Proves nothing of prep level, temperature on the day, prior/current weather conditions etc etc.

Lots to take into account than a ET

Hey guys, long time no see, I see you have a new ride daniel too, good work, looks very nice :P

but yer since i was last on here the Lil' Zilla has seen a 550hp Walbro intank pump (xmas pressie) and

now a Wolf 3D, it made 200.4 ATWkw's on 17psi, i was pretty happy with that to say the least.

Will try and get some pics of the dyno sheet etc on here sometime soon.

neway back to the point in hand, sounds like this could be a good idea Heathcote or Calder, as long as i can

drive fast and not have to worry bout flashing lights in my rear view mirror, sounds good to me. :P

i'll see whats happening and get back to ya on whether i'll race.

Good to hear your've had good results with the sr20 :). My bro sold his s15, that you would have seen on a few of the cruises, and bought a 32 gtr in gunmetal, I think he was somewhat inspired from your dads car... ;)

    • Yeah nice idea, you mean to suction it to the gauges? I hadn't thought of that.
    • A few suggestions: Do you have the option of retarding your exhaust cam gear to bring the power band over to the left? VCT would be turned off after you make peak torque, you see the power/torque will decay faster with it left on all the way to the limiter Once VCT is turned off, you'll find the motor will take a bit more timing being ramped in Send its mum, more boost! Of course, depends on your exhaust pressure.

    • I was back on the dyno again yesterday after completely revamping my methanol injection system. I was making 440kw at 19psi. Great, this is more then I was making last summer with my old meth system at that pressure, and I figured it would be smooth sailing up to 30+psi. We continued increasing from there and by 25psi, I had only hit 455kw. Dyno sadly lost utility power at this point and I left. We seemed to be on course to hit the same power wall as last summer (477kw@27psi). This is a built RB25 S1 stroked to a 2.8. Built and ported head with Kelford 272/262 cams. Precision 6466 Turbo. Tuner last year believed the power wall is a mix of RPM limitations (Hydro lifters/Limit set at 7600RPM) and fueling. With my new meth system, we're seeing zero knock now but it still won't go up.  What else can I do at this point? Here's my train of thought.  - It's clear from the dyno graph that I would easily make power to 8500+RPM but I'm limited to 7600RPM. I could risk increasing my limiter, but hydro lifters have me worried. What are my options here besides going NEO head or solid lifter conversion? I'm rocking a 1.05AR turbine on my 6466. Would dropping down to a .84 help shift that power down in anyway? - We're only seeing roughly a 30kw difference at the top end with VCT on or off. Is this normal? I want to confirm VCT is working properly. - Should I look into other cam options?  - Should I just keep increasing boost and see if she wakes up later on? I would expect to hit 600rwkw around 35psi with my 6466.
