felixy69
so I put in the motor today realized all the piping from the rb26 is too short due to the height of the block is different since I have to remake all the pipes already I think thinking of either v-mounting the intercooler or mid mount it up against the rad. this car will be driven on the track most of the time and sometimes dragging I will also make all the proper ducting for both the rad and intercooler and also a big hole on the hood for venting of the IC any suggest for this set up on A track car Btw I saw tuff tunes r324 with the v mount set up !! It looks amazing !!! Angus Smart
I think with a gtr your really going to be pushing for space with a V mount. or be using a very small core. or perhaps a long and thin core could work. if your a member on nissan silvia.. ase have a v mount kit for 180sx(s13) to give you some idea about room i can stand inside my mates 180sx engine bay as there is alot of room infront of the motor for a v mount setup Edited February 18, 2008 by Angus Smart Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/206559-v-mount-intercooler-set-up-for-800-hp-rb2630-bnr32-suggestionshelp/#findComment-3655755 Share on other sites
GeeTR
Check with a structural engineer, to see how much of the front radiator support you can cut out; would allow you much more flexibility. Angus Smart
i think that the gt cars thats actually the radiator mounted that way. with quiet possibly the intercooler below.. also you notice that the engines are not in a normal location they would be atleast 1/2ft back Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/206559-v-mount-intercooler-set-up-for-800-hp-rb2630-bnr32-suggestionshelp/#findComment-3661967 Share on other sites

GTR1993
you think a radiator support is what the defect will be fore with a T51 off the side? GeeTR
Beh, you can engineer it for sure. Ppl do whole tube frame front, tilting f/glass front sections.. Unless something has changed lately then... Check with a structural engineer, to see how much of the front radiator support you can cut out; would allow you much more flexibility. johnbarry88
you will not get the air you need to cool it in a v-mount setup, think like an air molicule it wants the path of least resistance if you go changing the angle of the cooler the fins will be facing downward and the air will only pass through a small part of the fins..this is only my opinion and I strongly detest vmount or angle coolers/radiators.. GeeTR
I guess the concept is that a lot of air doesn't go through the cooler at all; it buffets over the bonnet, under the car, around the sides. With the small eddy's in front of the cooler, i guess another direction change (through the now angled fins) doesn't impact it do much. Rem too, instead of air going through the IC -> Rad, then into a already hot pressurized engine bay, -> off the firewall and down under the car... half the air (assuming IC is on top) is going out the bonnet. Its getting sucked out the bonnet actually. johnbarry88
in the case of denzo the greats car I just cant quite understand how he is getting the air threw that cooler, must have some serious ducting, I know gt cars use it and it must work to an extent but they must have used thousands of $$$ in R & D doing it.
