Well if we are going to do this. lets stop talking about it and do it. Everyone who has had their car flogged from this car park, no matter who it is, i want to know the following:

- Car make/model

- Year

- Colour

- Mods

- Where abouts you parked it

- How long you were gone for

- If you noticed anything suspicious

- How often you park there

- And anything else you can think off.

We dont just want skylines, we should try and get ALL imports and in general ALL cars, take that to ACA or TT. Also if others have had their cars flogged in the area in general would be good to get a decent list going.

Either PM or post it here and ill start making some arrangements.

I may be wrong, but I think FIGJAM was trying to profile the b@stards oops I mean thieves. Helps with working out what to use for bait :P

hmmm then that would be another good test to do... with an immobiliser which activates when you press you remote as they get to the boom gate (camera).

I'd loooooove to set up a sting, that would be the bestest... but know the laws aren't there to protect us, only the guilty.

Do you need a security licence, and what evidence, number of witnesses, and do you need a successful prosecution for citizens arrest or can we be sued for wrongful arrest when we call the police? Can you show me legal advice?

Guess it means car owners need insurance against theft.

Pity people who's cars arn't worth getting comprehensive insurance, those cheaper late model cars are being stolen a lot more.

For those without insurance your best option against losing a car from security parking, is to physically remove essential electrical components or fuses.

Makes it too much of a hastle (time wize) beyond breaking your locks and dashboard, which they do anyway while they check for spare keys and try to hotwire the ignition, and so be prepared to buy new locks and dash parts.

It is possible to rig a car up with hidden cameras inside, I can build it for you and you can install all 4 cameras to watch all sides of the vehicle. Good for recording cruises too.

Can't wait to catch a car thief red handed, count me in for the possie, but what is the penalty for the thief under law, is it severe enough to bother? Why not just put information brochures around the security park advising the penalty for car theft instead?

Thing is it even catching them red handed won't stop them, there are several thieves, and the guards know who they are, they just can't be bothered sticking their necks out, quick way to lose their job. Why don't you just put gps tracking in a typical cheap theft target vehicle, to find the workshop wrecking them. Or better still gps tracking inside the 4wds spare wheel.

If the law doesn't do anything about it then lets catch them and perhaps give the thieves a job working for us? We need some replacement parts from our stolen cars.

There is no doubt the thieves read these forums to see people's mods and stuff.. as soon as you go "yep were gonna bait with a white r32 gtr with gold volk rims".. it won't get touched

In that case; Thieves who are reading this, wherever my car is parked is a setup to catch you. :D

As far as i am aware, as long as we dont belt the living shit out of them, we wont be in trouble. If we have made claims to the police n done everything right and take it into our own hands we should be right. The best way to do it is to cable tie their hands behind their back or even hog tie them. NO ABUSE. That is the main thing, if the cops show up n they have recieved some nice hits n kicks, we in the back n they get away.... again.

However there are ways to do it without being caught n leaving a mark :D

Forgot to mention that i am waiting to hear from TT, and who would be willing to apear on the show if our story is brought forward? If you dont feel comfortable letting me know in the forum please pm me you contact details and if i am contacted i will let TT know ho else is willing to appear.

No you dont need a security licence to do this.In fact a security guard has no more legal rights than anyone else. The arrests they make are still defined as citizens arrest. They take huge risks however as I would be willing to bet that 95% of Security guards have no idea on what their powers of arrest even are. This is dangerous as a false arrest can lead to a law suite that may even cost you your house.! I did security for 5 years, in that time I worked security at said shopping centre chain,But not at Miranda.I was also loss prevention for Myer. even did the plain clothes undercover thing also. Now for the interesting part. For you to make a sucessful arrest several criteria must be met so you cannot be sued and the defence attorney cannot pick your case to bits- They will try

I would highly recommend using video surveillance for this job as it is undisputable proof

While doing loss prevention several criteria we had to meet

*Thief must be observed to approach object

*Thief must be witnessed committing the offence of breaking into and entering vehicle

*Thief must be witnessed to drive vehicle away

Now my points may seem a bit stupid, but during all of these acts the person(s) witnessing the event must not lose visual contact at all at any time. This is VERY important...In our statements against thieves we had to write lengthy reports of the incidents..In our reports we had to make note of all these things..

eg male was seen at ? time enter the ? area of the Myer store.Male was then observed to select ? item of clothing.male was then observed to conceil the item under his shirt.male was then observed to walk past checkout without making any attempt to pay for the item.male was then observed to leave the store without paying for the item. Male was then approached by myself and arrest was made.At no point in time was visual contact lost...

I cannot stress how important the not losing visual even for a second is...If for example I was chasing an offender with said item..and lets say I lost him for a second or two but then seen him again and arrested him..He had item on him still etc...His defense attorney would throw this case out...He could prove that it could have been possible that in the time I lost contact he theoretically could have made contact with a friend who gave said item to him etc....see my point ?...I hope my little bit helps as I got years of experience of doing just this..i can tell stories for hours about it..May I also suggest you approach other car forums with this also...WRX,Supra soarer, Commodore Falcon etc..I am sure you would have their support also

Anyone know a better way to get into contact with TT or ACA rather then thru the internet? They dont seem to reply online

I'd call them and arrange to speak to someone in person, i.e. a producer who will actually put a story together, can interview victims and also has legal advisers and police contacts.

You need to call and show them there is a real story here. TT & ACA always play 'victim' stories. It won't be hard to get an audience with someone in their ranks.

Good luck

    • There's plenty of OEM steering arms that are bolted on. Not in the same fashion/orientation as that one, to be sure, but still. Examples of what I'm thinking of would use holes like the ones that have the downward facing studs on the GTR uprights (down the bottom end, under the driveshaft opening, near the lower balljoint) and bolt a steering arm on using only 2 bolts that would be somewhat similarly in shear as these you're complainig about. I reckon old Holdens did that, and I've never seen a broken one of those.
    • Let's be honest, most of the people designing parts like the above, aren't engineers. Sometimes they come from disciplines that gives them more qualitative feel for design than quantitive, however, plenty of them have just picked up a license to Fusion and started making things. And that's the honest part about the majority of these guys making parts like that, they don't have huge R&D teams and heaps of time or experience working out the numbers on it. Shit, most smaller teams that do have real engineers still roll with "yeah, it should be okay, and does the job, let's make them and just see"...   The smaller guys like KiwiCNC, aren't the likes of Bosch etc with proper engineering procedures, and oversights, and sign off. As such, it's why they can produce a product to market a lot quicker, but it always comes back to, question it all.   I'm still not a fan of that bolt on piece. Why not just machine it all in one go? With the right design it's possible. The only reason I can see is if they want different heights/length for the tie rod to bolt to. And if they have the cncs themselves, they can easily offer that exact feature, and just machine it all in one go.

    • This is how I last did this when I had a master cylinder fail and introduce air. Bleed before first stage, go oh shit through first stage, bleed at end of first stage, go oh shit through second stage, bleed at end of second stage, go oh shit through third stage, bleed at end of third stage, go oh shit through fourth stage, bleed at lunch, go oh shit through fifth stage, bleed at end of fifth stage, go oh shit through sixth stage....you get the idea. It did come good in the end. My Topdon scan tool can bleed the HY51 and V37, but it doesn't have a consult connector and I don't have an R34 to check that on. I think finding a tool in an Australian workshop other than Nissan that can bleed an R34 will be like rocking horse poo. No way will a generic ODB tool do it.
    • Hmm. Perhaps not the same engineers. The OE Nissan engineers did not forsee a future with spacers pushing the tie rod force application further away from the steering arm and creating that torque. The failures are happening since the advent of those things, and some 30 years after they designed the uprights. So latent casting deficiencies, 30+ yrs of wear and tear, + unexpected usage could quite easily = unforeseen failure. Meanwhile, the engineers who are designing the billet CNC or fabricated uprights are also designing, for the same parts makers, the correction tie rod ends. And they are designing and building these with motorsport (or, at the very least, the meth addled antics of drifters) in mind. So I would hope (in fact, I would expect) that their design work included the offset of that steering force. Doesn't mean that it is not totally valid to ask the question of them, before committing $$.
