Hey Guys,

Great to meet you all.

Had a great day!

The car held up really nicely throughout the day and man was i impressed when Craig jumped in and gave it a couple of laps.

Being a new car I was pretty hesitant with it all day, but after the Craig laps, managed to knock off 4 seconds a lap and keep it off consistantly.

The amount of speed he had through the sections compared to me was amazing. down the back straight he was travelling at around 30km/h faster than i was and we were both breaking in the same spot.

End of the day I only managed a 1:22 but speaking with Craig he believes it should be good for 1:15's. That's my goal!

Hey Liz, don't worry about the people complaining. I didn't mind cause now i had a racing line to follow :-)

James - congrats on hitting the time you wanted.

Chris - that sucks. Any idea what it was yet?

Michelle, I sent you a PM with some contact details to try and get a hold of Jacky.

Yeah it felt pretty good with that 1:16

I'm aiming for 1:15 now for street tyres

or 1:12-1:13 for semis (if I do end up getting them)

I'm confident that I can shave another second off through turn 1, 2 combo and the hook. I just need some better brake fluids so I can feel confident stomping on the brakes. I spent the day worrying about boiling the fluid so I took a bit easier and only spent a few laps going hardout.

I'm surprised the car held up so well and what it was capable of, even without the help of meatier sway bars.

I've got to get a 9 out of my car now. Its pretty much track ready after spending half of sunday finishing off a few things. Just needs a wheel alignment. A tune would be nice but i'll just keep the boost down and monitor knock on saturday if i can't get one in time.

Looks like i've got my idle sorted too! It was carrying on like a mofo, stuttering like it had a massive vac leak, and then hunting. In my search for leaks under the plenum i lent on the throttle body mechanism and the idle went smooth immediately. let the pressure off and it hunted again.

Out with a philips head, rotated the tps, problem solved. I was quite happy about that.

man i love track days like this, gets everyone worked up for the next battle :nyaanyaa:

Exactly,

I was exploring the idea of bringing in a track only car rather than mucking around with the V35.

Nice neat stocker, strip completely, decent suspension and tyres and away i go.

I really want to give it a good crack this year, and am thinking why risk the V35 when in all honesty it would be cheaper to just get a track only car. Am thinking along the S13 lines or even an R32.

I'd suggest s13 based on what i've experienced.

The black thing i was driving on the weekend was doing 1:11.9 in my hands. It has at most 160rwkw, some tien flex coilovers, cusco swaybars, adjustable rear upper arms and adjustable castor rods, and s14 front LCAs. Stock ecu, injectors, s15 turbo, Intercooler and a decent radiator and an oil cooler. GTR front brakes.

The AC, carpet and seats (other than drivers) have been removed so it's almost full weight.

As it stands it owes the owner under 5k as he bought it with most of the stuff in it already and sold off the pretty rims and near new bride drivers and passengers seats.

The best ive gotten out of my r32 with 120rwkw more and a lot more suspension and brake work is 1:10.9 and the r32 owes me well over 50k as it stands

Thanks Dave,

That S13 had plates if I remember correctly. Does it have normal rego?

Cheers

Matt - haha yeah slowly getting there, wasnt bad for my first time effort there!

Hows teh GTAAH???

Bobby - it is a good idea mate. Ive been considering something similar - going to a 180/s13 but I just love my RB sooooo much!! :

In fact...a mate has a 180 with an RB20 in it which he is selling soon...hmm...lol

Yep, I feel wrong even considering a "Silvia" when I've been a Skyline fan for years.

But at the end of day it will be more fun (not as worried about breaking stuff), and easier on the hip pocket.

Nah not bad at all :P

Ah long story that one, but basically I'm in the same position, considering going to a 180 / S13 / MX5. The GTR is proving to be too expensive for me to have any chance of getting it up to scratch to be competitive again!

Nooooooooooooooooo..................

rb's should be kept away from S chassis'. The people who don't know think they are great. The people who know say otherwise. You'll seriously spend lots of money trying to get the thing handling right and it'll never be as nimble as an SR20 engined equivalent.

Like any car, if you look after the cooling, concentrate on suspension and braking mods and keep the power reasonable there is no reason it won't be reasonably reliable, unless you are liz, who must have won lotto in her previous 4 lives or something.

Hey Liz - how is your car going?

Any updates. Hope it is ok.

My car now has a new 90 deg silicon joiner to replace this one. This is the one that heads down to the FMIC near where the std intercooler used to bolt up. The FMIC kits usually dont give you this one..but they should.

I got the 2.5" piece from ebay for $27 delivered to replace it..

I will be using super dot 4 brake fluid next time also - and keeping a better eye on the water temp

Pretty keen to get out there again. Will be a bit more prepared next time - although something else will probably blow..

    • @Murray_Calavera iam just considering options 🙂 of course it is very expensive so that why i ask here 🙂  @joshuaho96 I looked at that GCG hybrid(i remember looking at it few weeks before) So this is "that" hybrid where i send them my turbo and they upgrade the inside to Garrett stuff and then they send it back. It cost around 1200-1300 USD which is FAR cheaper than the HKS and it is what iam looking for(i just do not have experience like this...to send something off to "upgrade" ) @tylink720 that is like 150 USD turbo no? 😄 I dont think i have the "ease on my mind" with this kind of turbo. I just put over 7000k USD to "LINK" up my engine...dont want to blow it up with cheap turbo 😄     EDIT: https://www.cj-motor.com/gcg-turbo-charger-for-nissan-rb20det-rb25det-high?srsltid=AfmBOooVeOZ6CZ6r1AIv5m-KPaa6BvudIPJTY8LW78khkd-gQlsaCht9 I looked at this and it seems ok? It is that CGC hybrid and it costs around 1250 USD (with back shipping). Do any of you have experience with this hybrid on NEO turbo? I quickly look thru the forum/web and it seems very good.
    • Echo the awesome sentiment 👍 Definitely a car worth saving. Looking forward to seeing updates as well.

    • It's funny, as Ive seen plenty of people use them in cheap builds on YT. And they actually go okay, even though a lot of other maxspeedingrods stuff is terrible. Those turbos seem reliable enough, the only part being, a good quality turbo that is "identical" to it, will out perform it day in and day out. In both a lower boost threshold, and the ability to flow more air at the same boost pressure. As a cheap cheap replacement, not a terrible choice. For cheap and shouldn't blow in a day, not terrible (like other eBay/Temu turbos) for low cost and still decent performance, that's where the question comes in to play from the results I've seen. I'd actually find it hilarious to buy one, and strap it to a paddock basher or some other cheap as POS originally NA car, and send it to the moon!
    • The maxpeedingrods turbo is cheap and bolts on to stock parts. I think you just need a bigger silicone coupler for the intake. Its a cheap china turbo, but it's been running on mine for almost 3 years at 16-19 psi.
