From memory the Group A regulations were standard diameter, so 17" as per R32GTR N1 specs. The width was determined by engine capacity, so 2.6 x 1.7 = 4.42 litres, ie; under 4.5 litres, which I think was 8". The Sierras, being 2 litres x 1.7 = 3.4 litre were alos 8", like the R30/31's. The M3's, being under 2.5 litres, were 7" and the Corollas, under 1600 were 6".

Testing the memory, but 6", 7" and 8" sounds about right.

Cheers

Gary

Thanks for that reply but like 'Duncan' i'm amazed at how narrow that is (i always thought that they were 17'' so that's good to know). I have seen many vids showing the R32's under race conditions and the wheels look absolutely huge (width wise), There's one shot where the Calsonic R32 cuts the corner too much and both it's wheels lift on this vid http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=9TT9GpQXug8 (nice vid this!) don't know if i'm looking right but they look more like 255+, any opinions??

8"....205s? jesus that is small

makes their lap times even more impressive

Good info, it would be great if you could turn up the exact width they ran :(

According to the the old publicity handouts the wheels/tyres were as follows:

Rims: 18' (Group A were allowed 2" up on standard)

Tyres: 265-680 x 18 Yokohamas, obviously.

It doesn't give a rim width unfortunately but I think I can find it.

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
