Lotus at play.

The two superlap Lotuses spent last weekend at Eastern Creek competing in the GT Championship. The yellow one set a new racing lap record in of 1:33.45. The blue one (with Scott Bargwana at the wheel) did a qualifying time of 1:34.43.

Here they are going at it for 12 laps against each other as well as a bunch of Lambos, Ferraris, Aston Martins and some German cars that were so slow you wouldn't know they were even there:

Note: vid runs just over 20 minutes and the file size is 108Mb

Thanks for the vid mate, downloading now

These pesky Lotuses are out there a lot, and now ticking off some big guns, they might end up same fate as Farlap. Tell em not to go to USA and compete or they might get poison fuel or worse.

Seriously though they obviously have an awesome car to start with, but still hats off to them as still top driving and set up and prep, it is no walk in the park.

I am typing whilst waiting for vid to download and should be good.

Most definately, they look like an awesome car to drive. Pity I would never have a hope of fitting in one... oh, and pity about the cost :(

Though having said that I'm pretty sure you could do a HP setup for the cost of a lot of GT-R's getting round, if you were to base it on an elise, put a hard top on it and then do the usual upgrades along with the engine conversion.

*checks bank balance*

Dang...

very nice vid. the little lotus' look great. how cool is the lambo though. I would love to give that big beast a steer.

and Dane, if you can fit in a 180sx, and Jack can drive a 33 GTR anything is possible mate. :(

Dirtgarage give it up will you backyard Bob, try hard, talk it up. Dirtgarage seems to stand for dirt slinger of others and claim to fame. It is a self image thing I guess. Everyone is sick of it and not in the good light. I don't claim to know everything unlike some.

Failed cop unlikely but sounds good, I give everything I do 100% unlike others who bla bla.

You don't have your business or semi backyard business registered, and have no qualifications? to work on cars, or engines. MVIRA take action with guys like you. So I would tread carefully I would think, rather than slandering most performance shops and people like you do, and get warned by moderators, who put up with a lot. Even attempting to insult John Boston on this forum asking him if he is stupid or illiterate. It is people like John and his many contacts that we really need and should appreciate. You are undermining the efforts most are doing to promote this Superlap deal, you probably have about the least experience in circuit racing yet the biggest voice, it is clasisc.

Fun is fun but keep it clean will you and stop the insults and false claims and accusations.

Get your foot out of your mouth Paul. This kind of crap is unwanted by pretty much every single person here.

Ahh just giving him a little poke, maybe that one was a little hard...but, he seems to like it...as he returns the favor from time to time.

delete it if you like

But c'mon..Farlap?...its something every naturalised Australian should know (i think its even in the citizenship test)

Apoligies JP...was indeed a bit below the belt having a dig at your choice of career's...'im extending an olive branch to you'

BTW John, my business partner is a Licenced Automotive Repairer and Engine Reconditioner and is registered with the Motor Traders Association. Defamatory remarks about my business on this forum is against the forum rules and moderators will issue you with a warning for such behaviour....if they are consistent. So be careful.

LOL, this is starting to head the way of most drag racing threads :(

All i can say is that you were all lucky I A) Didnt havea running car , and B) was stranded out west for Saturday night's drinking activities. I missed what could have been the cultural event of 2008 :)

Hey the drag racing 'smack talk' threads are some of the most light hearted and amusing on here. You roundy roundy boys are always in reading them.

But yes personal insults are a bit low and feel a tad of regret for stooping that low. Sorry again JP

Where were you Roy? I was still hard charging after 3 am Saturday night....and that was with next to no sleep Friday night. Bit hard to have a big night when your almost staying in the outback.

    • I thought that might be the case, thats what I'll start saving for. Thanks for the info
    • Ps i found the below forum and it seems to be the same scenario Im dealing with. Going to check my ECU coolant temp wire tomorrow    From NICOclub forum: s1 RB25det flooding at start up Thu Apr 11, 2013 7:23 am I am completely lost on this. Car ran perfectly fine when I parked it at the end of the year. I took the engine out and painted the engine bay, and put a fuel cell with an inline walbro 255 instead of the in tank unit I had last year. After reinstalling everything, the engine floods when the fuel pump primes. if i pull the fuel pump fuse it'll start, and as soon as I put the fuse back in it starts running ridiculously rich. I checked the tps voltage, and its fine. Cleaned the maf as it had some dust from sitting on a shelf all winter, fuel pressure is correct while running, but wont fire until there is less than 5psi in the lines. The fuel lines are run correctly. I have found a few threads with the same problem but no actual explanation of what fixed it, the threads just ended. Any help would be appreciated. I found the problem though. There was a break in one of the ecu coolant temp sensor wires. Once it was repaired it fired right up with no problems. I would have never thought a non working coolant temp sensor would have caused such an issue.
    • Hi sorry late reply I didnt get a chance to take any pics (my mechanics on the other side of the city) but the plugs were fouled from being too rich. I noticed the MAF wasn't genuine, so I replaced it with a genuine green label unit. I also swapped in a different ignitor, but the issue remains. I've narrowed it down a bit now: - If I unplug and reconnect the fuel lines and install fresh spark plugs, the car starts right up and runs perfectly. Took it around the block with no issues - As soon as I shut it off and try to restart, it won't start again - Fuel pressure while cranking is steady around 40 psi, injectors have good spray, return line is clear, and the FPR vacuum is working. It just seems like it's getting flooded after the first start I unplugged coolant sensors to see if its related to ECU flooding but that didnt make a difference. Im thinking its related to this because this issue only started happening after fixing coolant leaks and replacing the bottom part of the stock manifolds coolant pipe. My mechanic took off the inlet to get to get to do these repairs. My mechanics actually just an old mate who's retired now so ill be taking it to a different mechanic who i know has exp with RBs to see if they find anything. If you have any ideas please send em lll give it a try. Ive tried other things like swapping the injectors, fuel rail, different fuel pressure regs, different ignitor, spark plugs, comp test and MAF but the same issue persists.
