Hey guys,

Thought I'd get your opinions as I've got to sell my S15 to buy a unit so I need a cheaper car.

Unfortunately, it can't be a Skyline as the finance company won't finance it and the rare ones that do, cannot give a residual on the amount, since it's an import.

Ive narrowed it down to either a 97+ Prelude VTiR or a 98+ WRX. I know they're not Skylines, but thought I'd get your opinions to help me decide :P

Any experiences with either cars would also be much appreciated

Thanks!

The running costs of the S15 probably be no different than the WRX. If you want to save money then the Prelude is the wiser choice.

On a performance note, the WRX has plenty of grip but the chassis is not as good as the Prelude.

There's always the option of an Evo VIII... Interior is crap but oh, the performance!!!!

ummm he's selling the S15 cos he needs to buy a CHEAPER car !

I would go a Rex...or what about an S14?

Haha I don't think I could handle the sheer speed of a Kia ;)

There seem to be some private sale rexies for around 25k.

Prob wouldn't go an S14 Shell, as it wouldn't feel as good as the S15 (interior wise etc) so I figured I'll go for a bit of a change for a while.

Drove a rexy today and I actually liked the way it drove, it was a fun car. The Prelude is more luxury than sports but was ok nonetheless. No turbo though obviously ;)

Thanks for the replies guys, the decision is gonna be hard as I lean towards a different car each day ;)

i think stock S14's look butt ugly (really done up ones can look awesome though)..

just thought I'd throw the suggestion in anyway :D

Try the S14 200sx (Aussie spec) my mate bought one for 23K with unichip, lowered, exhaust, air filter. IMACULATE CONDITION. the best stock looking 200 for that price I have seen, and it had the log books for all services at nissan, white pearl colour. you should try to find one of those, they're not imports but are the next best thing.

and atleast its still a nissan:)

would go for the s14, but make sure its an s14a..the updated front looks sooo much better.

prelude? ZzzZZzzZzzz

if you're going to go something like that, why not get a E36 318is or E36 328 coupe? they are just as slow but atleast its not as tinny and looks far more classy.

my rule is fast jap car or slow classy euro. the faster euro's are too expensive at the moment! never a slow jap!!!

Is the vtir THAT slow though? I don't think I could deal with a 318, it feels slower than a prelude. As for s14, It'd make sense but I don't feel I'd be as happy with it after the s15 so I'd rather have a change of 'scene' and go with something like the rexy maybe. But also, I don't mind the look of the most recent prelude, sometimes they look ok.

I guess I'll just buy whichever is in the best condition and kms etc at the time.

Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
