Hi,

In attempting to track a trajectory on a map in Nissan datascan's "Map Trace" function, the TPS gets stuck on the minimum value. I recall that if U know the address of the TPS value, U can get this to work on any RB, SR, etc. My application is an RB20DET, stock CPU. Anyone know where the value is hiding? Also, any hints on how to extend the selection of available maps would be great.

Thanks for rply,

Take a look at

inhibit_harvest_url_ttp://202.43.224.130/

with the "inhibit_harvest_url_" bit replaced by "h" of course.

point 10.

10. Map trace

  • A real time trace of a position on the map. This function is only available for z32 300zx cars at the moment. If the real time TP value address is known the function can be set up to work on any Consult I Nissan car.

The TP address is the spot in RAM in the ECU where the CPU stashes the TP (throttle pos). In datasacn, you can tell the map trace function this address. Then the map trace function can get its grubbies on the TP. Next U watch the track of the trottle/rpm curve pass over the timing and fuel map as you wind the car up. When you get ot a place you dont like the feel of, or it leans out or pings, you can tweak the map there :D That's assuming you know how to down & upload the maps. That leads to my second question. Does anone know how to give datascan more (read my custom) maps? That way, I could read my values off the display instead of having to look them up in a seperate app.

Further to that, it just occurred to me that the real time TP address might also be a memory mapped I/O register that the CPU reads to get the TP. Either way, it gives access to the TP for this particular datascan option.

TP memory addresses for VG30DETT, RB20DET and SR20DET identified by current NDS users are already pre-programmed.

get the latest version if you're using an old one - there is an option on dropdown for rb20det?

i think thats the point of it - they will read the maps from the rom and then display your position on it. because from memory once you choose your values it will then populate the table (fairly slowly, so presumably this point its reading from the map) before it starts showing you the trace

Yes, this is the way my old version works. I can't imagine that that would change, but U never know....

Shame we have to pay for the new one (hence all the questions), but it's not much.

Now, let's pop that rom out, solder in the piggyback, wire it up and were away....

No more soot on the boot......

Have you looked into nistune?

Intended to get something like a type 2 board, but no s/w.

Also will look into PC BIOS backup/switch boards & software. These ECU eprom sockets are obsolete,

and I expect there is junk out there for nothin'

Plenty of time.... It's a slug & I'm old, and patient.....

So can this be done on and rb25det also?

    • No, so what happened is. I put a bunch of filler then I sanded it all down, I removed all the filler (unintentionally), then I put the epoxy primer on because that section of the panel is bare metal. The car is parked outside so I needed to protect it in the meantime incase it rains.
    • It’s definitely an import, the Aussie ones have reflectors in the rear bar, it’s also a turbo which none of the Aussie one were.    I remember back in the day I want a twin turbo z32 so bad and then I saw a 32 gtr and that was the end of that lol
    • Same can be said for Subarus motors ha ha!   I like the 300ZX, I nearly bought a Z32 before I bought my first Skyline. It was going to be a project. Then I found out there was a bit of a dodgy title with it... As in, someone attempted to commit insurance fraud with it and there was now some dodgy legalities around it. So at 18 I walked away from it.
    • The below is what the readings I had with the fuel pressure gauge which were correct. It seems like the issue is mainly during drive and not idle. I bought the new hanger hoping it could be the issue, perhaps I ruined something while cleaning, but I have not installed it yet since I have to wire up everything with the new plugs.
    • Actually, that's not entirely true. It's also the same motor in the 1st gen Nissan Cube but they're rare as hen's teeth.
