Found Out Why My Boost Was Spiking! Hks2535

hey guys

a while ago if some of u remember i had a little issue as to boost spike.. look at dyno

was hitting 20psi then dropping to 16-17.

after the intake pipe poped off the turbo, i thought id pull it all out and clean my afm and tada!

the hose going to the bov (which is blocked off) had a massive tear around 15cm long!

i dont know why the workshop kept the hose there and blocked it off from around the bov location, anywho, blocked it off from the intake pipe itself..

now what id love to know is how can i lower my boost via the hks actuator? it was a little nut thingy on the end im 100% sure its adjustable just want to know how/which way! but now its running 20psi all day everyday :S

now thats all done, should i just leave the boost controlled by the actuator or should i set it to say 12psi and run a boost controller? or just run 15psi from actuator?

one problem is that the car will be on the track at winton (19th april), and i dont think i can get one of them turbotech boost controllers before then..

any ideas would be much appreciated!

so you have a hks adjustable actuator and just want to know how to adjust it?

on my turbo you have to disconnect the arm from waste gate end then loosen the nut on the shaft, wind it out and tighten the nut again.

ye well its sorta gotta be done...

actually to think about it, its really not that hard.. shouldnt take more then 5 mins to do, then testing it (going for a drive) then setting it to the right amount of boost will take time (but fun =) )

look into getting an ebc - i know plenty of guys who have had the same problem and had an ebc with gain installed and fixed everything. lots more power all over the place.

i just bought a turbo tech, see how it goes, if not, ill go ebc

The turbotech will work fine...adjusted right the hks actuator should see you running about 14-16psi without any spiking...then use the turbotech to raise boost to whatever level you want...remember that this is a mechanical system so a slight spike as it hits max boost is normal as it takes time for the system to stablelize...
