Looking to get a 1000cc injectors for an RB25 after advice from a tuner, after being near impossible to find side feed bolt on 1000cc units, (if anyone knows of any that would be the greatest help!)

Now opting for a modified rail to fit a top feed injector. Problem now is, not sure if the injectors will clear the standard inlet manifold, i.e. the one that crosses over the motor, so now looking to get a greddy plenum.

Just want to know if a) anyone know where to get 1000cc injectors that will fit a 25 side feed straight bolt on?

or b) if i get top feed injectors with a modified rail, will it fit? or will I have to get an aftermarket plenum like a Greddy or Plazaman?

Any help appreciated!!!

Im going out on a limb here, but i cant see any reason why you would need 1000cc injectors if you are considering using a standard inlet manifold. What power are you hoping to make? To make the sort of power that requires 1000cc injectors, it will be cheaper to fit an rb26 head than stuffing around with a 25 one.

Incorrect, it costs exactly the same to modify an RB25 head to flow exactly the same as an RB26 head, For injectors that size he would obviously be chasing 800-900rwhp so the RB26 head would need the same changes a 25 would get.

Also, the standard inlet can flow the same quantity of air as any aftermarket option. The only difference is the plenum chamber is slightly smaller (this can be changed/modified )

If these factors are true for his application:

B.S.F.C of .55

Max injector duty cycle of 95%

With 6 injectors

He will need at least 1013.15 cc injectors to get 1000 crank shaft hp at 40psi of fuel pressure.

However, I have found on most turbocharged cars that the B.S.F.C is more around .60-.65. Also, I don't like to run any more then 80-85% duty cycle on my injectors.

Not in my experience, RB26 cams are cheaper, both new and used, there is larger choice of RB26 camshaft profiles and suppliers, RB26's have solid lifters standard, RB25's have hydraulics that have to be converted, the RB25 inlet manifold doesn't like much more than 300 rwkw, RB26 inlet manifolds have no problem at 450 rwkw, RB25 exhaust manifolds don't like much more than 300 rwkw, RB26 inlet manifolds have no problem at 450 rwk, oversized RB26 valves are cheaper than RB25 oversized valves also due to them being more common, RB25's have VVT which has to be removed for true high BHP applications, RB26's don't have VVT, aftermarket RB26 valve springs are cheaper then RB25's, RB26 head gaskets are cheaper than RB25's as they are the same as RB30's, RB26's have 12 mm head bolt holes, RB25's are 11 mm and so have to be drilled to fit the largr headstuds that a true high bhp engine demands, RB26 heads have better oil flow return to the sump then RB25's which require more machining....................

I have more if you want

Cheers

You have an obvious conflict here;

1000 cc injectors = ~1000 bhp capacity

RB25 standard inlet manifold = ~500 bhp capacity

Which is it that you require?

basically going off what the tuner requires for the 1000cc injectors,

he is trying to source some side feed but is having a bit of trouble so I thought Id look into other options such as the rail mod while I wait.

I also thought 1000cc is a bit big although his arguement there is something along the lines of runninng the injectors at 75 - 80% duty cycle - im no mechanic myself im just trying to go with what he says so when it comes to tuning and somethings not right I dont get the whole I told you so when he isnt happy with the 850cc's

The main thing Im trying to find out is, if I do have to change the rail, and put top feed injectors in, am I going to be screwed for clearances with the top half of the stock inlet manifold and throttle body position etc. ?????

If so I will have to go something like a plazmaman...

How much HP are you making?

Tell me this and I will be able to help.

There is more what?...gibberish?

When you properly set up an RB25 head, you will be using RB26 camshafts anyway. RB25 cams cost exactly the same, it's not my fault you get owned by your supplier. Like you said, the 25 will be converted to solid also.

Do you have proof that the factory manifold cannot flow more than 300rwkw? If so, then you are suggesting the head can flow more than the inlet manifold which has exactly the same port sizing?

RB25 exhaust manifolds do resist flow at 300rwkw but if you are seting up a "true high BHP application" then you wouldn't have this anyway.

Once again, your supplier must be owning you on valves as these also cost within a couple of dollars of each other. I sent an RB25 head away to Ferrea and they now stock the 25 valves.

Head gaskets are the same cost....see note on supplier above.

Head bolts, you are correct...this does cost a hundred dollars or so to have done.

You are incorrect on the oil return to the sump as the 25 has the same size return ports and one extra one from the front of the head which the 26 does not.

So the extra $1000 you have spent just to buy the 26 head with super dooper manifolds has easily been a false economy when you consider the potential of a correctly set up 25 head.

Cheers,

Daniel

about 300rwkw, but plannaing ahead as its likely to go further

Then 550cc injectors will easily supply you with enough fuel.

800's are a good option for you for future imporvements if you needed them.

And on the note of duty cycle, 100% is maximum, not 95%. Some Hondas run 100% duty from factory.

It is only old design injectors that are not happy at these duty cycles.

Where do you get your rb25 solid lifter conversion for free?

Where do you get your rb25 solid lifter conversion for free?

in a true high hp setup were you go large cams.. the cost of the 26 and 25 still end up being the same as you have to upgrade the lifters to tomei items in the 26 head with 10.25mm lift cams and larger.. so thats 400odd.. and the rb25 solid lifters made by tomei are about the same price.. so really there is f**k all difference

the only real advantage i see from using a 26 head over the rb25 head is the fact that the 26 head setup correctly can handle 11.5mm lift were as the 25 can handle about 10.2 max(from memory)

So we are all in agreeance that there is no need to fit 1000cc injectors to a stock inlet manifold.

(PS im using 272 10.2mm cams with stock solid lifters without dramas)

interesting.. i was using 10.25 260 procams and needed the tomei lifters to get right clearance cause of the smaller basecircle..

    • I know why it happened and I’m embarrassed to say but I was testing the polarity of one of the led bulb to see which side was positive with a 12v battery and that’s when it decided to fry hoping I didn’t damage anything else
    • I came here to note that is a zener diode too base on the info there. Based on that, I'd also be suspicious that replacing it, and it's likely to do the same. A lot of use cases will see it used as either voltage protection, or to create a cheap but relatively stable fixed voltage supply. That would mean it has seen more voltage than it should, and has gone into voltage melt down. If there is something else in the circuit dumping out higher than it should voltages, that needs to be found too. It's quite likely they're trying to use the Zener to limit the voltage that is hitting through to the transistor beside it, so what ever goes to the zener is likely a signal, and they're using the transistor in that circuit to amplify it. Especially as it seems they've also got a capacitor across the zener. Looks like there is meant to be something "noisy" to that zener, and what ever it was, had a melt down. Looking at that picture, it also looks like there's some solder joints that really need redoing, and it might be worth having the whole board properly inspected.  Unfortunately, without being able to stick a multimeter on it, and start tracing it all out, I'm pretty much at a loss now to help. I don't even believe I have a climate control board from an R33 around here to pull apart and see if any of the circuit appears similar to give some ideas.
    • Nah - but you won't find anything on dismantling the seats in any such thing anyway.
    • Could be. Could also be that they sit around broken more. To be fair, you almost never see one driving around. I see more R chassis GTRs than the Renault ones.
    • Yeah. Nah. This is why I said My bold for my double emphasis. We're not talking about cars tuned to the edge of det here. We're talking about normal cars. Flame propagation speed and the amount of energy required to ignite the fuel are not significant factors when running at 1500-4000 rpm, and medium to light loads, like nearly every car on the road (except twin cab utes which are driven at 6k and 100% load all the time). There is no shortage of ignition energy available in any petrol engine. If there was, we'd all be in deep shit. The calorific value, on a volume basis, is significantly different, between 98 and 91, and that turns up immediately in consumption numbers. You can see the signal easily if you control for the other variables well enough, and/or collect enough stats. As to not seeing any benefit - we had a couple of EF and EL Falcons in the company fleet back in the late 90s and early 2000s. The EEC IV ECU in those things was particularly good at adding in timing as soon as knock headroom improved, which typically came from putting in some 95 or 98. The responsiveness and power improved noticeably, and the fuel consumption dropped considerably, just from going to 95. Less delta from there to 98 - almost not noticeable, compared to the big differences seen between 91 and 95. Way back in the day, when supermarkets first started selling fuel from their own stations, I did thousands of km in FNQ in a small Toyota. I can't remember if it was a Starlet or an early Yaris. Anyway - the supermarket servos were bringing in cheap fuel from Indonesia, and the other servos were still using locally refined gear. The fuel consumption was typically at least 5%, often as much as 8% worse on the Indo shit, presumably because they had a lot more oxygenated component in the brew, and were probably barely meeting the octane spec. Around the same time or maybe a bit later (like 25 years ago), I could tell the difference between Shell 98 and BP 98, and typically preferred to only use Shell then because the Skyline ran so much better on it. Years later I found the realtionship between them had swapped, as a consequence of yet more refinery closures. So I've only used BP 98 since. Although, I must say that I could not fault the odd tank of United 98 that I've run. It's probably the same stuff. It is also very important to remember that these findings are often dependent on region. With most of the refineries in Oz now dead, there's less variability in local stuff, and he majority of our fuels are not even refined here any more anyway. It probably depends more on which SE Asian refinery is currently cheapest to operate.
