I see car's being impounded all the time, I love it. Sucks to be them, fu(king muppets. I reckon they should start crushing the cars like the do in the states after 3 offences. I couldn't get over the amount of pure co(k smokers I saw on Today Tonight of whatever trash show it was saying "mate, street racing is fully sick, so I've had my car confiscated, it wont stop me.....uleh". Crush em I say!

The only place that crushes cars is California, what about all the other US states? The rest don't at the moment uleh.

I don't think crushing cars is a good idea, instead of confiscating the cars, why not confiscate the car and make sure they attend an advanced driving course or similar if they haven't done so already?

While they're there show them how things are done on the track, maybe we could get them from been idiots on the street.

Just saw an add for the "Hoon Hotline" on Channel 9, as part of a CrimeStoppers report.

Basically has a vid of some Holdens doing burnouts and an r33 flooring it, followed by 3-4 cars.

Encourages people to call the Hotline and dob in "hoons", also gives an explanation of the Hoon laws.

haha.

ooh not to discriminate or stereotype or anything..!

Just like that cop that pulled me over and said.. "its nothing personal, its just this type of car, all these young guys drive around here in these cars with their exhausts so big you can stick ya foot in it..." hrrm

I'd like to see an ad for hoons with one of those grannies that goes gutter surfing and bumper bar crunching.. wheeee

+ 1 for old people being the most dangerous people on the road. Nearly T boned like 4 of em in 1 car as they pulled into a street infront of me, but missed the road and hit the curb :S imo this hotline should be used to report trucks that like to drive within 30cm of other cars

i say someone should hold a HOON FESTIVAL! in a massive warehouse, then when all the HOONS turn up for some hooning! lock the doors an burn the warehouse

1. cars burnt

2. low cost

3. no more hooning

and still get to keep the money for there entry fee $ching ching$

ive got a quick story about this dob in a hoon crap, me and my mate were coming home and i was in his car we get home and his mum said the phone is for you its the police. they said that someone called them up about him sliding around corners and driving really fast which was rubbish i was in the car with him he didnt do any of that stuff. the cops then said to be careful and that they will be watching him. so it goes to show this dob in a hoon is crap he didnt do anything wrong someone out there thought it would be funny to dob him in. stupid sunbury people.

I'd imagine that this hoon hotline will be run like the litter one or EPA one. Ie the authorities need 3 independent reports of an offense before they can take action.

Not exactly sure what the police will do after that though because in order to be charged the offense has to be witnessed by an officer. Maybe just speak to the owner of the car in question?

Yeah, ive also had a mate about 4 years ago where police called his house because someone had reported his plates saying he was driving dangerously. Also, they said they would be "watching him".

Why is crushing the cars not a good idea? You can't tell me it's not going to stop hoons. I can't think of ANYTHING more effective, appart from removing a cars engine or cutting off thier go fast pedel foot. As if someone who's had a car crushed is goign to go and do the same thing again. I reckon it would be a pisser, they could setup a grand stand and put the hoon on a pedastool so we could watch the look of thier face wile munching popcorn. WINNAH! :D

ULEH!

    • The rain is the best time to push to the edge of the grip limit. Water lubrication reduces the consumption of rubber without reducing the fun. I take pleasure in driving around the outside of numpties in Audis, WRXs, BRZs, etc, because they get all worried in the wet. They warm up faster than the engine oil does.
    • When they're dead cold, and in the wet, they're not very fun. RE003 are alright, they do harden very quickly and turn into literally $50 Pace tyres.
    • Yeah, I thought that Reedy's video was quite good because he compared old and new (as in, well used and quite new) AD09s, with what is generally considered to be the fast Yokohama in this category (ie, sporty road/track tyres) and a tyre that people might be able to use to extend the comparo out into the space of more expensive European tyres, being the Cup 2. No-one would ever agree that the Cup 2 is a poor tyre - many would suggest that it is close to the very top of the category. And, for them all to come out so close to each other, and for the cheaper tyre in the test to do so well against the others, in some cases being even faster, shows that (good, non-linglong) tyres are reaching a plateau in terms of how good they can get, and they're all sitting on that same plateau. Anyway, on the AD08R, AD09, RS4 that I've had on the car in recent years, I've never had a problem in the cold and wet. SA gets down to 0-10°C in winter. Not so often, but it was only 4°C when I got in the car this morning. Once the tyres are warm (ie, after about 2km), you can start to lay into them. I've never aquaplaned or suffered serious off-corner understeer or anything like that in the wet, that I would not have expected to happen with a more normal tyre. I had some RE003s, and they were shit in the dry, shit in the wet, shit everywhere. I would rate the RS4 and AD0x as being more trustworthy in the wet, once the rubber is warm. Bridgestone should be ashamed of the RE003.
    • This is why I gave the disclaimer about how I drive in the wet which I feel is pretty important. I have heard people think RS4's are horrible in the rain, but I have this feeling they must be driving (or attempting to drive) anywhere close to the grip limit. I legitimately drive at the speed limit/below speed the limit 100% of the time in the rain. More than happy to just commute along at 50kmh behind a train of cars in 5th gear etc. I do agree with you with regards to the temp and the 'quality' of the tyre Dose. Most UHP tyres aren't even up to temperature on the road anyway, even when going mad initial D canyon carving. It would be interesting to see a not-up-to-temp UHP tyre compared against a mere... normal...HP tyre at these temperatures. I don't think you're (or me in this case) is actually picking up grip with an RS4/AD09 on the road relative to something like a RE003 because the RS4/AD09 is not up to temp and the RE003 is closer to it's optimal operating window.
    • Either the bearing has been installed backwards OR the gearbox input shaft bearing is loosey goosey.   When in doubt, just put in a Samsonas in.
