Yeh you were the guy at the Old skool, new age show at the autobarn booth thing? Your car looked pretty nice from what i remember. Always asked for the other dude in autobarn cos i thought he owned the 33 LOL I was in there not that long ago asking about O rings for fuel injectors, think it was you that i asked.

But yeh, i'd rather go there then to supercheap, nothing against supercheap, just know my way around autobarn and havn't had any problems with them.

haha yea my 33 was there and i was on the booth all day.i think i remember the 0 rings lol.

mate you probably could've said all that without the moron bit.......especially after telling Ryan and everyone else on here where you work

i dont see how me calling him a moron will make a difference in any thing.

Ryan was trying to wind him up and he succeeded... no harm no foul. The 200% bit was said in jest and so (I would Assume) was the moron bit.

how ever he is correct.

soOOoOoOo.. anyways.....enough about AB what about car toys -,-'zzzz... damn over priced products! lol

If I walk into a place and don't see prices shown on the products, I leave straight away. Car Toys is one of those places :nyaanyaa:

Not when its "customer feedback" :P

its not customer feedback when its on a forum......its customer feedback when its gets directed back to the business you dealt with

having said that.......stating that Car Toys are too expensive is not slander (I tend to agree)

but flaming staff and their business practices can be seen as slander :)

Its called freedom of speech. "Customer feedback" or "slander", either way there's alot of unhappy customers.

If their service is shit, then they'd have to expect to be flamed ... starting on forums.

I'd want advice on whats hot and whats not and where to shop. I don't want to be answered on "should I buy an intercooler from Autobarn" with an answer like "No, but I can't tell you why, because I might upset someone". :P

I dont want to cause any more shit fights about slander but if someones had a bad experience with a particular vendor, i would like to know so i dont run into the same problem. Everyone has their own opinion about certain places but feedback is good.

agree

Dont the rules state to use the PM function to inform people of "bad" business's?? By all means make a thread if your unhappy but then wait for people to request PMs, until the workshop is bagged! If people dont care if you or someone else has been miss treated then thats their bad luck!!

Your right feed back is great, but rules are rules!!

Its called freedom of speech.

You maybe surprised to hear that there's no such thing these days.....we're all accountable for every word that comes out of our mouth these days and its all because of political correctness and the way we've followed America's litigeous ways.

I agree Ryan, I would like to know if someone's a shark out there also but thats what PM is for unless we can give details of a specific incident and back it up if challenged about it.

Random flaming of a business is slander and against forum rules whether we agree with it or not.

I actually agree with you guys about important info being passed on but it has to be accurate and substantiated or else inoccent businesses and people can suffer from it and any loss they suffer in their hip pocket can result in a compensation lawsuit. Magistrates are overcrowded with this stuff everyday.

This is a pretty interesting subject so I'll just add another thing.

You'll be surprised how easy it is for someone these days to get money out of you.

If you slander a business and their sales happen to go down as a consequence or on the other hand if you slander a small operator and he decides to stop working due to stress, they can file against you in the Adelaide or Elizabeth Magistrates Court for up to $5000 and serve you the documents personally without it costing them a cent because they wont necessarily need a lawyer for that amount and you don't need to be licenced these days to be a Process Server, anyone can serve you a summons.

Food for thought........

If all you clowns out there think for a second that nothing is marked up by more than 200% then your all on crack........

Most items are either marked up by MORE than 200% or if the price is falling then its being made by cheaper resources(due to inflation), and even then it will be making more than 200% profit, Deal with it, or make it yourself!! and besides you gotta expect the "bigger" joints to charge more, just like every other thing in this world!!

Yeah too true Darren, its called a monopoly......and I'm not referring to the Parker Brothers variety either :)

The worlds gone soft, that what it is. :)

Sounds like the above-mentioned AB store is on its way out anyway. I don't think its slander, but point taken.

:(

Tis indeed food for thought however they'd have to prove that your opinion isnt based in fact (and therefore becomes slander) and then once that is proven, they'll have to prove that the slander directly caused a loss of profit. And if they do decide to sue, you can countersue for emotional distress and other nonsense.. if it is in print it's Libel anyway, and to be considered 'libel' it needs to be published (which I'm totally not sure whether a forum is considered published, my gut tells me "no" as there isnt an editor that vets the post before they're made public)

Anyone here a lawyer? Its ok, u can admit it. We won't hurt u >:(

    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 🤔
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
    • Place the new daughterboard in the case and mount it using the 3 small black rivets provided, and reconnect the 3 factory ribbon cables to the new board Then, use the 3 piggyback cables from the daughterboard into the factory board on top (there are stand offs in the case to keep them apart. and remember to reconnect the antenna and rear cover fan wires. 1 screw to hold the motherboard in place. Before closing the case, make a hole in the sticker covering a hole in the case and run the cable for the android unit into the plug there. The video forgot this step, so did I, so will you probably. Then redo the 4 screws on back, 2 each top and bottom, 3 each side and put the 2 brackets back on.....all ready to go and not that tricky really.
    • Onto the android unit. You need to remove the top screen because there is a daughterboard to put inside the case. Each side vent pops out from clips; start at the bottom and carefully remove upwards (use a trim remover tool to avoid breaking anything). Then the lower screen and controls come out, 4 screws, a couple of clips (including 3 flimsy ones at the top) and 3 plugs on the rear. Then the upper screen, 4 screws and a bunch of plugs and she is out. From there, remove the mounting brackets (2 screws each), 4 screws on the rear, 2 screws top and bottom and 3 screws holding in the small plates on each side. When you remove the back cover (tight fit), watch out for the power cable for the fan, I removed it so I could put the back aside. The mainboard is held in by 1 screw in the middle, 1 aerial at the top and 3 ribbon cables. If you've ever done any laptop stuff the ribbon cables are OK to work with, just pop up the retainer and they slide out. If you are not familiar just grab a 12 year old from an iphone factory, they will know how it works The case should now look like this:
    • Switching the console was tricky. First there were 6 screws to remove, and also the little adapter loom and its screws had to come out. Also don't forget to remove the 2 screws holding the central locking receiver. Then there are 4 clips on either side....these were very tight in this case and needed careful persuading with a long flat screw driver....some force required but not enough to break them...this was probably the fiddliest part of the whole job. In my case I needed both the wiring loom and the central locking receiver module to swap across to the new one. That was it for the console, so "assembly is the reverse of disassembly"
