Are you going Neil? I'm in if you go... don't wanna be the only open wheeler

Michele,,,If the club needs numbers I will go. But after reading of possible drift sessions my interest has waned.

For the life of me I can never understand why tracks days have drift sessions. There are plenty of other events that cater.

They invariably waste valueable track time,,,almost always need a recovery vehicle at some time and more often than not leave rubbish all over the track.

Now don't get me wrong,,,I love drift just not at track days.

Neil.

Ok have my semis on order. Probably getting them stuck on the rims this saturday. Quick Question. Was told by one place that semi slicks or slicks shouldn't be balanced because of a potential hazard of the wheel weights coming off on the track. Anyone got an idea either way if this is the case?

thx

I have a great idea Chris,,,don't use whoever said that. They obviously have no idea what they are taking about. Please get your wheels balanced,,,I have never had a weight come off,,,EVER.

Liz,,,what about we cable tie some brooms to the back and you can clean and sweep at the same time.:banana::banana:

I sought of figured that Neil, I did think it sounded weird  . And thought it was BS, but thought I'd check. Wont be using them.

Ditto that.. Thats why the weights are placed on the inside of the rim, so that the centrifugal force actually pushes the weight onto the rim when its spinning.

Whoever told you that is full of it CeJay!

Neil, I said possibly a drift session pending on numbers if its just 1 or 2 then no.

but i almost always need a recovery vehicle and more often than not leave rubbish all over the track
rubbish or oil?

Lol.. @ Liz. She hasn't driven home from a trackday in a while!

I have 4 standard R33 gtst wheels for sale if anybody wants them. 2 are in great condition and 2 have marks on them but no gutter damage. I only want $50 bucks each and they would make great track rims. Funny they still have my old D01J's semi's fitted but they are years old and stuffed.

Yes I know you said "Possibly" Sweetpee and I said "Possibly" as well,,,but possibly just doesn't cut the mustard with me. It's a yes or a no.

I have already had to buy a new set of slicks because of deep cuts from rubbish left on the track and I can't afford another set just at the moment.

Tell me theres no drifting and I'll pay now. Oh actually not now because Roy got a hold of my wallet the other day and ate my credit cards,,,

the little shit left the money alone and just ate all my plastics.

But I can pay when Mel gets home.

I did a track day on them too. It was like driving on ice. :P

Neil and Michele, we will make a proper decision tonight or tomorrow.

I have to say I'm with Neil on this one.

The day was promoted as a track day, thats what it should be!

I also agree due to the club is putting on a drift day later this year :P

I am looking like entering this trackday, will know this week.

What do you mean?

Last day to pay???

As soon as we see that you have applied for membership and the money has been transfered we can put you down as a member even though you haven't received your membership pack.

As for the cams.. You may be cutting it close. it usually takes 2 -3 weeks for cams to turn around your application but you can give them a shot..

Thank guys,

Just fax the membership form today will transfer money tomorrow.

You shouldn't need a CAMS licence for this event - a AASA licence can be obtained from Wakefield on the day (12 months around $50)

Also (correct me if I'm wrong SAU admins) but as SAU NSW is a CAMS affiliated club (not that you need CAMS for this day) you should be able to fill out the forms and pay SAU and get 12months CAMS on the day, keeping the 28 day stubb at the bottom of the form. The catch may be that there won't be any club admins there on the day who have the authority.

Where can I send the CAMS form to???

Another question is this event alright for stocky car???

coz now i'm broke ..... have no budget to modify :(

    • As far as I can tell I have everything properly set in the Haltech software for engine size, injector data, all sensors seem to be reporting proper numbers.  If I change any injector details it doesnt run right.    Changing the base map is having the biggest change in response, im not sure how people are saying it doesnt really matter.  I'm guessing under normal conditions the ECU is able to self adjust and keep everything smooth.   Right now my best performance is happening by lowering the base map just enough to where the ECU us doing short term cut of about 45% to reach the target Lambda of 14.7.  That way when I start putting load on it still has high enough fuel map to not be so lean.  After 2500 rpm I raised the base map to what would be really rich at no load, but still helps with the lean spots on load.  I figure I don't have much reason to be above 2500rpm with no load.  When watching other videos it seems their target is reached much faster than mine.  Mine takes forever to adjust and reach the target. My next few days will be spent making sure timing is good, it was running fine before doing the ECU and DBW swap, but want to verify.  I'll also probably swap in the new injectors I bought as well as a walbro 255 pump.
    • It would be different if the sealant hadn't started to peel up with gaps in the glue about ~6cm and bigger in some areas. I would much prefer not having to do the work take them off the car . However, the filler the owner put in the roof rack mount cavities has shrunk and begun to crack on the rail delete panels. I cant trust that to hold off moisture ingress especially where I live. Not only that but I have faded paint on as well as on either side of these panels, so they would need to come off to give the roofline a proper respray. My goal is to get in there and put a healthy amount of epoxy instead of panel filler/bog and potentially skin with carbon fiber. I have 2 spare rolls from an old motorcycle fairing project from a few years back and I think it'd be a nice touch on a black stag.  I've seen some threads where people replace their roof rack delete with a welded in sheet metal part. But has anyone re-worked the roof rails themselves? It seems like there is a lot of volume there to add in some threads and maybe a keyway for a quick(er) release roof rack system. Not afraid to mill something out if I have to. It would be cool to have a cross bar only setup. That way I can keep the sleek roofline that would accept a couple bolts to gain back that extra utility  3D print some snazzy covers to hide the threaded section to be thorough and keep things covered when not using the rack.
    • Probably not. A workshop grade scantool is my go to for proper Consult interrogation. Any workshop grade tool should do it. Just go to a workshop.
    • In my head it does make sense to be a fuel problem since that is what I touched when cleaning the system. When I was testing with the fuel pressure gauge, the pressure was constantly 2.5 bar with the FPR vacuum removed. When stalling, the pressure was going up to 3.0 bar (which is how it should be on ignition).
    • ECUtalk pages don't mention they support the ABS computer (consult port has more than one CAN), so you might just need a different scan tool. But, I would expect ABS is a different light to the brake warning/handbrake light, do you see an ABS light come on for a few seconds when you turn the key from ACC to IGN? But since you said: I'd have a look at the ABS sensors in the rear hubs to make sure they are not damaged, disconnected etc.
