It need's to be fixed to the car. As in it can not be removed by any expected forces from racing.

i.e. a gauge screwed into console will hold

a 10kg object screwed in by one screw will not.

Also things like suction cups I won't allow. They are really not secure.

I know people have those cameras attached to camera mounts on suction cups.

I know VZSS has one and modified it so that it was bolted in to the child safety restraints. Maybe PM him?

Just a heads up so people with these don't get cranky on the day.

Wakie license yes at the admin office. You might want to go through scrutineering first as you will be in one of the first groups and there will be a line.

As in bolting to the centre console?

If you could make a steal bracket and bolt it to a structural point that would be fine.

But it would be hard for me to say yes over the net for something I haven't seen. If you want we can talk about this over PM or if you come down to mikes the night before I can try and help you figure something out.

yep understand completely....I just want to use 1 or 2 thermocouple readers which would weigh 200-300grams...I'll make a bracket that will withstand at least 4g peak load which means 1-2kg force won't break it...if it passes it passes, if it doesn't it doesn't and I'll put it in the glovebox...

Wahhh???? *is confused* haha we are checking for damaged helmets. aka cracks & stuff.

Re the power point question,,,there are heaps of power points in the carports,,,no need for a long extension lead mate.

Sorry Corrine as I am not having a go at you for one minute but I always find it funny that you are not allowed to have say a pencil type camera cable tied or race taped inside the cabin. I have been to tons of race meeting and seen these cameras tied and or race taped to the outside of cars sail through scrut. Now if it is unsafe inside (which it is) why allowed them on the outside?. I'd look pretty funny with someone elses camera inbeded in my head.

I have a suction mount camera designed for motor sport which has been used at Wakie both inside and outside of the car on an Autosports day. I assume this would be ok?

It's designed to hold onto the outside at over 150mph and i don't think i'll be getting anywhere near that. I'm not fussed on the outside of the car but will be using it on the inside.

It's called - Motorsport Hero Camera. Tiny, yet effective :laugh:

Same here for the camera mount I've had mine in heaps for cars at race meetings even bathurst no one said i couldn't have it in the car it was classed as safe for cams meetings. but the camera that is on the mount is like the size of a wheel nut.

It's even funnier that cams have no real written rules regarding cameras so they have left it up to the poor scrut to work it out. I had old man Cary Butchers (spelling) Michele's log book man design my video holder and he now points to it saying thats whats required. I've seen shift-light size ones duct taped to roofs pass scrut and all the little ones like the suction cup hero. Scary was one guy at a Powerplay day that cable tied his including the tripod to his headrest poles.

Titan,,,don't worry about the weather mate,,,it's all good for learning your race-craft. I was always worried about driving in the ran,,,now I love it!!!.

So a good idea for everybody should be to replace those old weather beaten wiper refills with some new ones.

Wakefield are now even selling in car cameras... have a look when you sign up, they're on the shelf next to the helmets. My suction one is also rated to 150mph and has passed CAMS scrutineering in the past, but its up to the Chief Steward to make the final decision either way, so can change accordingly at their discretion.

scott, thanks for bringing the pics will be great to grab them.

re power, it is in every garage. there is air at the end of the first row of garages but no pressure gauge.

as for cameras (or anything else) the rule generally is that lipstick style cameras are OK but full handycams etc are not. this will be formalised from 1/1/09 for sure. as for suction cups I have used one to hold a full sized camera and it was not safe in my opinion, i only ever used it once. would be fine to hold a lipstick camera though they are only about 100g - even in a 5g crash that would only be 1/2kg

      I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps

      According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.

      It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.

      If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.
