a month ago i got a call from the police saying they have caught the guy and he has pleaded guilty for a hit and run. i was happy i got my money back from insurance and my claim lvl has gone down.

yesterday i got a call from the sargent who investigated the case saying i have to attend court because they have charged the taxi driver and he has pleaded not guilty and saying i crossed a red light and was excessively speeding. today he came to give me a summons to court to give evidence against the taxi driver. he also told me the taxi driver has 2 other accidents where he has driven off. this pisses me off because he already confessed and the witness statement is exactly the same as what ive said. this is a total waste of time ;)

yes. the cop said the witness will testify that i wasn't doing anything wrong and it was a green light

Great, good to hear you will at least have support. Maybe you should go for damages for the inconvenience of being in court and not having your car etc.

I was driving home from morely down Tonkin in the right lane on the section before it become Reid hw i crash. It was on the intersection of Benara rd and Tonkin lights weren't amber or big warning lihts weren't flashing, lights were green, not speeding going 90 althougt it turns into a 80 zone for that section. I had already passed the light when a tarago taxi van comes out and instead of going into the empty left lane he cross's straight into the right lane by the time i started to brake it was too late the left side hit his car and pushed mine into the side kerb and sent me sliding in the middle sandy section.

the car behind us saw everything stopped and rushed to see if i was alright. the taxi came to a stop a few metres ahead of mine with a blown tyre and little dent on his side. he doesnt say anything come out of his cab look around my car, once i got out of my car he got back into his and drove off without a word no sorry or giving me his details. the witness got his taxi number but no rego.

now i have to wait for the cops to call me with his details before i can make a claim, insurance says without the other guys details i will have to pay the excess fees.

damage on the left side only. the left rims all cracked up. the left bar holding the wheels straight is bent. left fender

old thread but i forgot to tell you what happened.

Mid/end of last year i got a call saying they found the person and he is getting charged for it. The driver told the cops he didnt see me in the first interveiw then in the second one he said i was speeding and went through a red light, but that was after he said he never saw me. Cops came to my house handed me his details and summoned me to court to tesify against him. I showed up as well as the Cops who attended the scene, they are pretty nice guys. Our case was first but it had to be suspended as the taxi driver didnt show up. go to court at 10am i didnt get to leave until 2pm.... Turns out the guy never showed up for this, also he had been caught for 2 other hit and runs before mine. he only ended up getting a 1.7k fine and nothing else even tho he didnt show up. The fine was pretty big but its nothing if he has done it twice before :(

Insurance gave me back my 3k excess and put my premium back to what it was =]

i did see him last week tho.... wanted to throw my bottle at him but decided its not worth it.

    • The rain is the best time to push to the edge of the grip limit. Water lubrication reduces the consumption of rubber without reducing the fun. I take pleasure in driving around the outside of numpties in Audis, WRXs, BRZs, etc, because they get all worried in the wet. They warm up faster than the engine oil does.
    • When they're dead cold, and in the wet, they're not very fun. RE003 are alright, they do harden very quickly and turn into literally $50 Pace tyres.
    • Yeah, I thought that Reedy's video was quite good because he compared old and new (as in, well used and quite new) AD09s, with what is generally considered to be the fast Yokohama in this category (ie, sporty road/track tyres) and a tyre that people might be able to use to extend the comparo out into the space of more expensive European tyres, being the Cup 2. No-one would ever agree that the Cup 2 is a poor tyre - many would suggest that it is close to the very top of the category. And, for them all to come out so close to each other, and for the cheaper tyre in the test to do so well against the others, in some cases being even faster, shows that (good, non-linglong) tyres are reaching a plateau in terms of how good they can get, and they're all sitting on that same plateau. Anyway, on the AD08R, AD09, RS4 that I've had on the car in recent years, I've never had a problem in the cold and wet. SA gets down to 0-10°C in winter. Not so often, but it was only 4°C when I got in the car this morning. Once the tyres are warm (ie, after about 2km), you can start to lay into them. I've never aquaplaned or suffered serious off-corner understeer or anything like that in the wet, that I would not have expected to happen with a more normal tyre. I had some RE003s, and they were shit in the dry, shit in the wet, shit everywhere. I would rate the RS4 and AD0x as being more trustworthy in the wet, once the rubber is warm. Bridgestone should be ashamed of the RE003.
    • This is why I gave the disclaimer about how I drive in the wet which I feel is pretty important. I have heard people think RS4's are horrible in the rain, but I have this feeling they must be driving (or attempting to drive) anywhere close to the grip limit. I legitimately drive at the speed limit/below speed the limit 100% of the time in the rain. More than happy to just commute along at 50kmh behind a train of cars in 5th gear etc. I do agree with you with regards to the temp and the 'quality' of the tyre Dose. Most UHP tyres aren't even up to temperature on the road anyway, even when going mad initial D canyon carving. It would be interesting to see a not-up-to-temp UHP tyre compared against a mere... normal...HP tyre at these temperatures. I don't think you're (or me in this case) is actually picking up grip with an RS4/AD09 on the road relative to something like a RE003 because the RS4/AD09 is not up to temp and the RE003 is closer to it's optimal operating window.
    • Either the bearing has been installed backwards OR the gearbox input shaft bearing is loosey goosey.   When in doubt, just put in a Samsonas in.
