Hmm, I dont mean to offend you mate, and Im not trying to stir you up, but i have every right to drive in the right hand lane if im doing the legal speed limit. As far as i know theres no written law that states 'people in the right hand lane must move over when other drivers want to speed past'. Normally if im in the right hand lane and someone wants to overtake, i do move over, but I think its just rude to flash/beep etc. If i move over to allow you to drive past then that is because it is a courtesy and not something i am legally bound to do. Know what I mean?

No offence taken.. The law as i can find it on the Vicroads website is as follows:

Where there is a sign, or on multi lane roads where the speed limit is over 80 km/h you MUST not drive in the right lane unless overtaking another vehicle, turning right, making a U-turn, avoiding an obstruction, or when the traffic is congested.

So you're correct, there was no legal obligation for you to keep left.. I'm just suggesting that with the attitude of "I was doing the speed limit, therefore I have every right to be in that lane" will make you into one big road-rage target.

Rather than make yourself a target, drive safe and curteous and you'll have a much better driving experience.

i think i the law is and correct me if im wrong that u must always stay in the left lane unless overtaking.

but not sure if it applies if your doing the correct speed limit. cause usually the slower people that drive under the speed limit are in the left lane.

It doesn't matter if you're doing the speed limit or not, however the law only applies to roads where the limit is over 80km/h.

Still, sitting in the right lane on any road is just likely to make another driver mad and make them do something stupid.. (like pulling around in front of you and slamming on the brakes).

People are impatient. People like to exceed the speed limit. It's much better to let them past as soon as you can, less stress for them, less stress for you and much less likely that they'll get worked up and do something stupid, or overtake you in an unsafe place because they're frustrated.

Also dont forget that most speedo's are out, i experience this sort of thing a lot in a truck that has a speedo the is spot on, its amazing how many times i go up the hume in the 110 zone doing 100 (max allowed by a truck in australia) and im overtaking cars.

would not be surprised if you speedo is saying 60 and your actually doing 55 or less, then of course you are constantly speeding up and slowing, and even worse you are speeding up and braking, i know that would piss me off.

its also amazing how you were so scared but were willing to speed up and brake but not willing to brake and pull in behind the car beside you.

As some one who spends a lot of time on the road if i was sitting behind you it would look like your trying to piss me off, then when he did it back to you you got pissed off, funny how that works.

Also if you had have been watching your mirrors you would have seen him coming up behind you and had time to pull in front or behind the car beside you, might cost you an extra few seconds but would have saved you in the end.

Springvale Road is 60, 70 and 80kmp/h the majority of the way. Technically you can be in any lane you want.

I completely agree with everything you've said. I find it rude if driver's stick in the right hand lane when they're not going to do the speed limit, regardless if it's an over or under 80kmp/h road.

it was very hard cause when there was two lanes there was a car right beside me doing the same speed as me thats why he was so pissed off and couldnt pass, i would either have to slow down or speed up and change lanes, but why should i if i was just driving home and all i wanted to do is get home and sleep -.-

My thoughts exactly

far out u get some w@nkers on the roads these days... its good u kept to the speed limit n stuff ay! if it was me i would have done the wrong thing n sped up then got a fine or something... I hate ppl who deliberately cause trouble!

well just to update you guys i went to the cop shop yesterday and they took down the details of what happend and took photos.

the good news is ;

his screwed - he apparently blew 2-3times over the limit, 1.something i cant remember

so his being charged for drink driving carelessnes and endangering lives

i asked the cop and he said his gonna lose his liscense for a while and a fine around 1k

bad news is. i cant do shit about my car. cause its an accident and cops cant really help me out, unless he actually vandalised my car. and seeings though i only got 3rd im pretty much screwd. but oh well what can u do now.

so please drive u guys out there, not worth the money and the effort.

cheers

yea monkey i get the greases from old people also, and it also getting offensive for me too. i just look at them and feel sorry that their old and if they drive car like mien it would look weird but i still will be if im 50 or 80 LOLZ

The nice thing about having full insurance is when you have an accident regardless of who is at fault the worst case scenario is you pay an excess and your premium goes up (provided you weren't drunk etc).

I really think you need to take action against his insurance company. Put a claim into them. He has third party insurance, you are a third party who had their car damaged by him. Usually it would be your insurance company going in to bat for you and making them cough up, but in this case give it a go yourself.

Also do you have any mates who are lawyers? Get a strongly worded letter delivered to him. Start threatening court action, maybe he'll want to settle?

Btw you know he has lost his licence... now this guy is a total dickhead, I reckon the chances of him driving while suspended are pretty high. Instead of doing something stupid like putting a brick through his window, if you know where he lives maybe you go get a few pics of him driving to drop into the local police station. Additionally I bet he didn't even tell his insurance company what happened as it would affect his premium, make sure they're well and truely aware of what went on.

Finally when you don't get anywhere with his insurance company (which you probably won't the first time round) ask them for the details for the insurance ombudsman. They handle third party disputes up to the value of $3000. Often to avoid a cost dispute insurance companys will settle beforehand.

Good luck and at least you're not seriously injured, so many people live with ABI and thank goodness you're now not one of them.

I missed this one the first time round...

He was drinking and his actions before the accident can be viewed as a lead up cause to the accident... ...because he was tail gating and intimidating you... ...He could have slammed the breaks on you knowing you'd hit him... ...(I've had it done to me)... ...because he was pissed off you were doing the right think and sticking to the speed limit and he couldn't get past...

First see if you can get in contact with his insurance... ...least of all let them know he was drinking and had an accident...

Second... ...spend a couple of bucks and get a lawyer to put together a letter with the threat of action...

Thing is... ...It's three months down the track... ...Don't really know how lucky you'll be... ...At least have some fun F@#$ing with this guy...

    • It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about. Reliability of everything in a 34 drops MASSIVELY above the 300kw mark. Keeping everything going great at beyond that value will cost ten times the $. Clutches become shit, gearboxes (and engines/bottom ends) become consumable, traction becomes crap. The good news is looking legalish/actually being legal is slighly under the 300kw mark. I would make the assumption you want to ditch the stock plenum too and want to go a front facing unit of some description due to the cross flow. Do the bends on a return flow hurt? Not really. A couple of bends do make a difference but not nearly as much in a forced induction situation. Add 1psi of boost to overcome it. Nobody has ever gone and done a track session monitoring IAT then done a different session on a different intercooler and monitored IAT to see the difference here. All of the benefits here are likely in the "My engine is a forged consumable that I drive once a year because it needs a rebuild every year which takes 9 months of the year to complete" territory. It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about with this car.
    • By "reverse flow", do you mean "return flow"? Being the IC having a return pipe back behind the bumper reo, or similar? If so... I am currently making ~250 rwkW on a Neo at ~17-18 psi. With a return flow. There's nothing to indicate that it is costing me a lot of power at this level, and I would be surprised if I could not push it harder. True, I have not measured pressure drop across it or IAT changes, but the car does not seem upset about it in any way. I won't be bothering to look into it unless it starts giving trouble or doesn't respond to boost increases when I next put it on the dyno. FWIW, it was tuned with the boost controller off, so achieving ~15-16 psi on the wastegate spring alone, and it is noticeably quicker with the boost controller on and yielding a couple of extra pounds. Hence why I think it is doing OK. So, no, I would not arbitrarily say that return flows are restrictive. Yes, they are certainly restrictive if you're aiming for higher power levels. But I also think that the happy place for a street car is <300 rwkW anyway, so I'm not going to be aiming for power levels that would require me to change the inlet pipework. My car looks very stock, even though everything is different. The turbo and inlet pipes all look stock and run in the stock locations, The airbox looks stock (apart from the inlet being opened up). The turbo looks stock, because it's in the stock location, is the stock housings and can't really be seen anyway. It makes enough power to be good to drive, but won't raise eyebrows if I ever f**k up enough for the cops to lift the bonnet.
    • There is a guy who said he can weld me piping without having to cut chassis, maybe I do that ? Or do I just go reverse flow but isn’t reverse flow very limited once again?
    • I haven’t yet cut the chassis, maybe I switch to a reverse flow. I’ve got the Intercooler mounted as I already had it but not cut yet. Might have to speak to an engineer
    • Yes that’s another issue, I always have a front mount, plus will be turbo plus intake will big hasstle. I’ve been told if it looks stock they’re fine with it by a couple others who have done it ahahaha.    I know @Kinkstaah said the stock gtt airbox is limiting but I might just have to do that to avoid a defect so it atleast looks legit. Or an enclosed pod so it’s hidden away and feed air from the snorkel and below Intercooler holes like kinstaah mentioned. Hmm what to do
