last night about 9pm in moorabbin (chesterville Rd) i saw a white S2 R33 gtst Slamd into a poll it happend about 5mins before i went passed. was it anyone off here?? if so how did it happen??

Thats no good . Hope it wasnt 1 of ours.. Them pole can stuff up your whole weekend..

The guy that crashed is my friend, he's perfectly fine (thank god for airbags). He walked out without a scratch. What happened was the road was a bit slippery, car went on boost and kicked out, the guy didn't manage to recover it and smacked into the pole. I think he panicked and hit the accelerator instead of the brakes (I didn't want to get into too much detail with him).

They were on the way to go go-karting and thats when it happened. The thing is, the guy is 24, off his P's and only had the car for a year. I think if he was a hoon and practiced drifting, he would've recovered it, but i suppose shit just happens. The car is a complete write-off but i suppose the main thing is that hes fine and the night didn't end with us having to call his parents.

lucky for your friend, dam makes me think i should take some of kevs clases i got off my Ps and im 22 and reciently started to drive my skyline around allot more dont want some thing like that to happen to me but i done hoony stuff befor but doesnt make me a pro lolz,

How much of a difference would have AWD vs RWD in a situation like that helped? I've almost spun out in my car on rainy nights even driving pretty sedately, but I haven't driven a RWD Skyline in the wet before. Would the transfer of torque in that situation with all the tires already losing traction actually help much?

who was the dude wif the auto 33?? APS GTS i think the number plate was??

ATP GTS, his name is Adam, good friends with the guy who crashed. He was already at the go-kart track (i think) when the other guy crashed.

Advanced drivers course would definitely help. Driving a R33 gts-t in the wet is a nightmare. In the wet around corners hyundai excels get away from me lol, the back just steps out of line. (probably has a lot to do with my crappy suspension, but I'l definitely get into one of the driver dynamics courses, just so i can get some tips on safer driving in the wet.

Lol dude learn to not berry the right foot :(

Lol dude learn to not berry the right foot :D

Yeh there is definitely that, but it depends on what kind of road you're on, what kind of suspension you have and what type of tires you have. In the wet, i don't bury my right foot, the car slides on its own alot of the time (not powerslide), and the whole boost thing duznt make it any easier. But thanks for the constructive criticism. ;)

    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
    • Fair enough, I am in no way a tire expert so I'm not familiar with all the terms and conditions. I'll definitely note down the AD09 to potentially try in the future. Rain is not too big of a concern for now as I will probably only drive in the rain when I have to. And considering I still lack experience driving the GTR I'd more than likely take it easy too. I have coilovers in the car but as I barely got to drive so far I never bothered to even check if they are adjustable haha. The suspension is almost entirely old and worn as well so I suppose when I eventually fix that in the future that would make a huge difference.
    • There's not a great deal to report here .... except ...... FOR .... LSD!!!  I bought a Quaife LSD from the UK and shipped it here .... Wish I'd just bought locally cause the shipping and duty was $700! But there were so many diffs used in the E90s I just wanted to be absolutely certain I was getting the right one so I spoke with a supplier in the UK who builds race cars and they have heaps of experience with the E90s.  I pulled the diff out which was seriously awesome - I've never done anything like that before, I must have watched 1000 videos on YT about it as well as consulting the Bentley manual. It was super easy in the end. The diff was delivered to the awesome folks at Hornsby Diffs and will be back in a few weeks. I also replaced the diff bushings with some Nolathane ones.  Really looking forward to getting it back and getting back to the track or even the skidpan.
    • yeah... the 13kg/mm springs weren't always in there, I had 10kg/mm but doing a few SMSP commanded heavier front springs. It's so good now going into T1 and T2, just need more seat time and real tyres.
