I might be on re-runs but could a someone please tell me if its simply a matter of cutting the right wire [which is?] in an r 34 gtr to diable the 180 klm speed limiter. I Know it has been covered with regard to 32 and 33's i am just wondering if it was the same in the 34's.... cheers

i dont think you can jsut cut a wire. but can i ask why would u want to remove the 180km so badly? do you do alot of track work? or is it just a street car?

if ur planing to mod your car in the future just hook up a power fc

Yeah i agree and will get a pfc in the not too distant future, but i will wait till i can afford a few more things like injectors, turbo's etc then get it tuned hopefully just the once. Yes the idea is to track the car at qld raceway and the mt cotton hillclimb [180 not a chance there!!]

If the car is mostly stock the power fc can be installed and used with the factory map, Its just slightly tweaked versions of the standard ecu maps. Mine has been running fine on the factory map for 12 months now.

Thanks mate,

Not such a bad idea, i know if i had a pc i would want a tune straight away though!!! viscious circle!!!

just cut the wire leading to the flux capacitor

You Guys are hilarious.....and so informative!! :woot: lol. Looks like i might have to get a pfc, cause i reckon this will end up being a gee up and i will end up cutting the wrong wire!!!!!

You can do anything you want to your car - cut wire 53, use Homebrand motor oil, clean and reuse the spark plugs etc.

FFS - you've laid out plenty for this vehicle and you want to take shortcuts?? If you want to exceed 180km/h, obviously you want to use the performance that the car is capable of.

Fit and tune a PFC. The whole excersize shouldn't cost you more than $2k, of which you will recoup half of this if/when you eventually sell the PFC.

Apreciate your sentiment Gav, but lets be realistic, by-passing a 180kmh speed limiter is quite different to running a car on homebrand oil, and the car is essentially stock so i feel Nissan's computer is probably more than capable of doing the job sufficiently well. If there are no negatives i.e Hicas shutdown, then i would be happy to cut a wire. so mate if you can help, that would be great.... :woot:

I don't have a wiring diagram for a BNR34, but I would say there's a better than 50/50 chance that the signals from that wire are used for more than just the speedcut function in the CPU.

UAS has an HKS Speed Limit Defender advertised on their site for $280.

Give that a go if you don't want to commit to a PFC and tune at this stage.

    • @Murray_Calavera iam just considering options 🙂 of course it is very expensive so that why i ask here 🙂  @joshuaho96 I looked at that GCG hybrid(i remember looking at it few weeks before) So this is "that" hybrid where i send them my turbo and they upgrade the inside to Garrett stuff and then they send it back. It cost around 1200-1300 USD which is FAR cheaper than the HKS and it is what iam looking for(i just do not have experience like this...to send something off to "upgrade" ) @tylink720 that is like 150 USD turbo no? 😄 I dont think i have the "ease on my mind" with this kind of turbo. I just put over 7000k USD to "LINK" up my engine...dont want to blow it up with cheap turbo 😄     EDIT: https://www.cj-motor.com/gcg-turbo-charger-for-nissan-rb20det-rb25det-high?srsltid=AfmBOooVeOZ6CZ6r1AIv5m-KPaa6BvudIPJTY8LW78khkd-gQlsaCht9 I looked at this and it seems ok? It is that CGC hybrid and it costs around 1250 USD (with back shipping). Do any of you have experience with this hybrid on NEO turbo? I quickly look thru the forum/web and it seems very good.

    • It's funny, as Ive seen plenty of people use them in cheap builds on YT. And they actually go okay, even though a lot of other maxspeedingrods stuff is terrible. Those turbos seem reliable enough, the only part being, a good quality turbo that is "identical" to it, will out perform it day in and day out. In both a lower boost threshold, and the ability to flow more air at the same boost pressure. As a cheap cheap replacement, not a terrible choice. For cheap and shouldn't blow in a day, not terrible (like other eBay/Temu turbos) for low cost and still decent performance, that's where the question comes in to play from the results I've seen. I'd actually find it hilarious to buy one, and strap it to a paddock basher or some other cheap as POS originally NA car, and send it to the moon!
