hey peeps

dont know much about ''OVER POWERING PETROL COMPANIES'' but i received this email what do you think?

THIS IS NOT THE 'DON'T BUY' PETROL FOR ONE DAY, BUT IT WILL SHOW YOU HOW WE CAN GET PETROL BACK DOWN TO $1.00 PER Litre....hopefully

This was originally sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. If you are tired of the pertol prices going up AND they will continue to rise this winter, take time to read this PLEASE.

Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea.

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't buy petrol on a certain day' campaign that was going around last April or May!

It's worth your consideration. Join the resistance!!!!

We are going to hit $ 2.00 a litre SOON in NZ and Australia and it might go higher!! Want petrol prices to come down?

We need to take some intelligent, united action. The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to 'hurt' ourselves by refusing to buy petrol.

It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.

BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can Really work. Please read on and join with us!

By now you're probably thinking petrol priced at about $1.50 is cheap.

It is currently $1.93 for regular unleaded in NZ !!!!

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a litre of gas is CHEAP at $1.50, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace...not sellers.

With the price of petrol going up more each day, we consumers need to take action.

The only way we are going to see the price of petrol come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their petrol! And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.

How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying petrol.

But we CAN have an impact on petrol prices if we all act together to force a price war.

Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY petrol from BP NZ or Australia, the biggest price up driver company.

If they are not selling any petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.

But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of BP NZ and Australia petrol buyers. It's really simple to do! Now, don't wimp out on me at this point...keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I am sending this note to 20 people. If each of us s end it to at least ten more (20 x 10 = 200) .. And those 200 send it to at least ten more (200 x 10 = 2000 .... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of people, we will have reached over TWO MILLION consumers.

If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 20 million people will have been contacted!

If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... TWO HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all!

I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you!

Acting together we can make a difference.

If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO BELOW THE $1.50 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK.

Simple – send the message along to other and do not buy petrol from BP NZ. or BP Aust.

load of rubbish im afraid, to control the pricing you need to understand why its going up

demand for oil is increasing, so the demand goes up, so the price does

if you take away the demand across the board, the price will drop

its like houses, if you are told your house is valued at 400k but no one in australia agree's or cant afford it then its not worth that, and will never sell at that price

if people can afford to pay around 330k max for your house then you can either wait and wait etc or take the offer

so in summary, demand drives price, much like shit on ebay, if lots of people want it then the price can keep going up and up and up

if no one wants it, then theyll struggle for a good price.

the only thing that i think will drop petrol prices is alternate fuels and less car usage

theres no magical solution, no silver bullet, no super secret mythbusters trick to make it go away

moving to public transport, using electric hybrids, driving less or less often, make more efficient cars will drop the price

as there will be less demand, so its not worth as much.

and in 5 years time there will be a tarriff on driving into the city too so keep an eye out for that one

so you can expect a few more $ to get into the inner city thanks to lack of planning in the past

only now they've decided its an issue and theres too much traffic in the city

alright call me silly, but wont people just buy the BP and other stuff as soon as they lower it only 2 cent lower than the other petrol stations? therefore, driving it up again really soon after we boycott them!?

and can someone please help me work out what 'NZ' and 'Australia' petrol stations are?

Correct.

Plus we only have one major refiner in Aus you guessed it BP  So that would mean we need to buy no petrol as all the companies in Aus buy from the same refiner. Plus Petrol companies in economic terms is classified as a cartel, as there is no real competition in price. They all follow eachother. I remember in SA a guy started Petrol wars where as an independant he brought fuel at the same cost as the big 4 and sold it for half the price. This drove prices down as everybody supported that pricing scheme, and he made money in selling volume and convenctionary products.

we need to support the small Servo's to take away market share, but unfortunately that will be hard to do as they are being squessed out by Coles and Safeway. So get used to high Petrol Prices as China pays for more oil we all suffer or profit, We profit on Steel and other riches from our earth, so does OPOC countries from theres.

As a footnote the Iraq war is war for OIL nothing else.

I don't think the iraq war is for oil. The war has cost the US something like $1 trillion to date; and Iraq coiuldn't possibly have $1 trillion in oil reserves (i doubt that much oil exists anywhere). So it wouldn't make sense that the oil was the primary reason for the war.

just my 2 cents.

EDIT: Just did a little snooping on Google and apparently it is estimated that Iraq has 112 Billion barrells of oil. at current market prices that actually puts the value of the oil reserves at more than $1 trillion. Interesting stuff...

worried about petrol costs - get a prius (or a jazz :D )

its inevitable that the prices will keep going up. either get a small car and enjoy good fuel economy, or keep driving performance cars and gas guzzlers and stfu.

americans have pride lol, and thats also whats driving the war as far as it will go...

the problem with petrol is the people who cant afford or who hurt from the prices...

you cant send out a message like the email and expect the rich not to purchase bp ulitimate cause other australian cant affort to buy it..

and people who get affected from petrol prices are the ones that will, an old saying the rich get richer the poor get poorer.. <<< spelling lol poar, pore, porare, lol

oil prices are based on greed, pure and simple. a result of the 'market system' that is supposed to work so wonderfully for the consumer, but in reality just slavishly follows the desperate need for corporations to post ever greater year on year profits.

there are enough known oil reserves to last another 100 years easily, even given the projected future requirements of China and India. apparently future discoveries will add hundreds of billions of litres more to the reserves as well

reducing overall consumption won't have any effect whatsoever on reducing pump prices. none. if the whole world started using a lot less crude oil, the producers would just increase the price by the same percentage that consumption drops, to maintain their profits. sydney water pulled exactly that trick a few years ago after the 'save water' campaign was succesfull- water usage dropped 12%, so they put water rates up by 12%.

i've been doing this for a while now... i have noticed that bp is ALWAYS more expensive. often by nearly 10c

i live around MANY servo's with 98 and have not been to bp for months.

i dont really care about the money.... just that they thought i wouldn't notice

    • Greg speaks wisdom. These dirty old Datsuns are only value when they are cheap. When they are not cheap, there is no value. Sounds contradictory, but it's true. We are now 20 years past the hey day of modifying cheap 90s JDM cars for small amounts of money. This is a different world. If you are rich and can afford not to care about what is effectively wasting money on an old Datto shitter, then I have no reason to argue against it. But if you are wanting to experience what we all experienced back in 2005 (and I bought my car last century!) then there is no way to do it.
    • Short answer: No. Medium answer: No, because you still need to conjure the things out of thin air to bolt them to a NA to make it a NA+T. Long Answer: No - The things you need to conjure - meaning a turbo, intercooling, manifolds, exhaust, intake/manifold/piping, clutch, injectors, fuel pump, AFM (?), ECU + Wiring (woo, N/A loom fun) have to come from somewhere. You could have many scavenged these things from an OEM car that someone had upgraded from and use some of these. This will be cost prohibitive now, especially so in the USA. You'd probably pay the same for newer, upgraded components that are better than old OEM stuff from 25-30 years ago. None of these big ticket items are re-usable for the N/A car. Why not buy new and upgrade while you're there? The only real consideration is turbo and fuel sizing and determining whether you want to stay within the bounds of the OEM engine or get into rebuild territory. These limits ARE lower with a N/A motor and especially N/A gearbox at the starting point. And if you're gonna upgrade those then you may as well consider having them built to begin with. Because everyone here knows you're never far from that next engine rebuild once you start making the power you want... The cars you see on the internet and SAU etc have been built over decades. If you're really clued in... you would sell your US car to somebody for what you paid for it. You would then scour AU JDM pages or SAU and buy a car like Dose's on this forum with your powerful American Dollar. This will save you so much money in the long term. Importing it could be tricky. Or it might not because USA. I have long said the only reason 90's Japanese stuff took off was because a) Japanese people had Japanese cars so that is what they used b) Australians could import these cars to Australia with very minimal changes and use them on the road here c) Neither country had well-priced access to US or EU Sports Cars. I don't believe the JDM scene would have taken off in Australia at all if we had EU priced EU BMW M offerings, or more especially the AUS V8 Scene would never have existed if we had the multitude of US cars like Camaros, Mustangs, Corvettes at the prices you folks do. After all - Do the math. I would say put a V8 in your R34 and that's the smart way forward. It is. I did it. I know this from my own experience. But at that point there's no reason to simply not buy a C5 or C6? It would be simpler and easier and cheaper and bette-
    • Reading all this... hurts lol. I have an ENR34 5MT and I paid an inflated USA price for the car alone, had to do tons of preventative maintenance past that, and so I'm over $30K USD into the car already and haven't even touched power.  I wanted to +t it. Not even trying to make GTR numbers, I'd be happy with 250hp.  Can I get away with paying much less to make that happen?
    • Damn you’ve done well, definitely snapping necks.
