i thought i'd share my second experience with the cops...

Was driving out to jimmy rowes (as you do on thursdays) and going down bulla rd. cop car was in right lane and me (p plates and carload of blokes) in the left lane.

then they changed into the middle, and then into my lane. quite obviously they were intending to pull me over. i wasn't speeding so i had nothing to worry bout really as far as i was concerned...

They flashed and i puled over. If anyone has read the latest issue of 'speed' magazine, the cop who sent a letter in said if its 2 cops in the car then its a partol car not a traffic car and they do checks and stuff. Two of them got out and one checked my liscence and asked some questions. the other asked me top pop the hood, and stood there looking at my engine. i suspect he was looking for obvious things, but seeing as i have stock airbox (hi flow filter) and stock bov etc. he didn't say anything else and closed the bonnet. then he walked around the car and checked the tyres i suspect to see the guard clearance but also the tread level.

ha ha my car is completely roadworthy and legal so up their arse. they took my liscence back to their car and did a check and after 5 mins let me go.

This was a pleasing experience as i really got no hassles and they were nice enough. i was not a smart ass and they were not smart back either.

moral of the story (if there even is one): not all cops are bad

Waz.

yeah that's a good point. i'm sure if i had a pod or something and they fined/defected me then i would be sitting on the other side of the fence...

i was wondering if when he looked under the bonnet if he was checking if it was a GTR or not, or if he was looking for illegal stuff. cox he looked like he didn't know what he was really looking at. plus he didn't tough anything just stood there.

well the fact that they pulled me over when i hardly ever speed or anything is a bit annoying. but at the end of the day if they are being told to randomly pull cars over and check licenses then they are just doing their job like everyone else.

it was just pleasing with their attitutde etc. thumbs up if they treat all drivers like this

but we don't know that if i didn't have a p plate, or that if i was driving a commonwhore with p's, then would they have still pulled me over, or would they have not?

this we will never know...

what do u think?

either way if we give them attitude and treat them like sh1t then they will return the favour...

import car, p plate, full of teens... If I was a cop I'd pull it over and search the boot for weed. Guranteed to find some.

Good on the cops, they're just doin their job. Lets say your car got stolen and he was driving it... If they hadn't looked at his car, checked his license, then you'd never have found your car. Stop whinging. If you can't maintain a roadworthy car its your own bloody fault.

Its all part of the modifying game. If you want the thrill of the speed, then you gotta face the thrill of being dixed.

In highschool when you wagged classes, you ran a risk of detention if you got busted. When you got caught did you go "aw f**king teachers have no right to give me detention". Same principle just 20 odd years later in your life. As a matter of fact I got a thrill out of avoiding getting caught, but when I did I tried to deny at first, but deep down inside I knew I was gettin it for what I did.

no way i have to disagree with u there ... to pull someone over just because they drive a particular car is not right ... its like racism ... prejudice (spelling) .. or whatever u call it ... and if they think the cars stolen well.. thats why they have their computers in the car for ...

How do you what other cars they pulled over that night? did you speak to all of them?

You also have a computer in your car (alarm system) does it ensure that your car dosen't get stolen? Sometimes computers aren't the solution to everything.

i mean the computers in the cops cars where they check the rego etc ... LOL ... so they don't have to pull u over to know if its stolen ...

all i'm saying is that if u get pulled over for hooning around .. speeding etc .. then fine ... no probs here .. but he wasn't doing anything wrong ... and they just pulled him over .. now i think thats not fair ... what are u going to think when he gets pulled over everyweek as i know of some people who get pulled over that often for no reason ...

i had a cop pull me over on tue arvo when i was in vic just across the border

now i live in nsw and this vic cop pulls me over

he comes upto my window, gives me a bretho.. thats ok

then he sed my car was reported as being driven "erratically"

he then procceded to ask where i live and what street comes off that... "we have a member of the force that lives in that street"

walks back to his car, chats to his mate for 10 secs, comes back.

he then throws my licence at me and told me to stop driving like a dickhead. he then runs back to his car while i try to say something to him. i was going to get his badge number etc but i thought it wasnt worth it considering they do nothing to their own kind at all anyway

What a Cnut!

now i dont drive my car erratically at all in suburban areas at all.

also there is another car like mine wif p plates.

all cops arent all good... its the 2pc of them that r absolute wankers

Jimmy rowes ;)

i was actually NEARLY gonna go Thurs night :)

and they ones that patrol that strip are mongrels.

I've had a number of 'incidents' with those guys.

They are from the TMU in Broady (that's how well i know them)

And they DO single you out.

Me not so much, but i see lots of imports pulled over.

But surprise, i didn't get hassled the other day actually. Went right past the patrol cat, 99.9% of the time they do what they did to you... pull in behind you... check the rego, and then STILL pull you over.

It's a text book thing i think.

my bf gets pull over when he still have the sticker and gt-wing

the cop check his car thoroughly...but my bf was nice 2 him so he was nice back...asking my bf where he was heading to and he was going to work....the cop advice him to take the stickers off also the gt-wing to catch less attention and the ratio of pullover chances would decrease...so he did and now more comfy driving it ...this would be the 2nd positive cop story...;)

    • Even more fun, leave all the ADAS stuff plugged in, but in different locations, hopefully avoid any codes!   And honestly, all these new cars with their weird electronics. Pull all the electronics out Duncan, and just shove an aftermarket ECU and if needed a trans controller in, along with a PDM. Make it run basic but race car styled!
    • To follow up a question from earlier too since I had the front bar off again (fking!) This is what is between the bumper and the drivers side wheel And this is the navigator side, only one thing but its a biggy! So basically....no putting coolers in the wheel arches without a lot of moving other stuff. Assuming I move to properly race prepping this car I'll take that job on and see how the computers respond to removing a whole bunch of ADAS modules
    • So I prepped the car for another track day on Wednesday (will be interesting to see coolant temps post flushing out and the larger reservoir, with a forecast of 3-14 being 20o cooler than last time I took it out). Couple of things to mention; since I am just driving the car and not taking a support vehicle, I took the rear seats out and just loaded the back up Team Trackday style. Look at all that space! To cover off removing the rear seat....it is weird (note the hybrid is probably different because it wouldn't have folding rear seats) Basically, you remove the lower seat base, very similar to a r series but it is a clip that pulls forward to release the base rather than it being bolted down. Easy Then, you need to remove the side section of the rear seat on each side. There is a 14mm head nut at the bottom of the side piece, the it slides upwards off a hook at the top to release; you also need to unhook the seatbelt from the loop at the top. Then the centre piece is weird. You need to release/fold the seats forward with the tab in the boot on each side From there, there are 2,x12mm headed bolts holding the rear of each seat to the folding bracket, under the trim between the rear seat and the boot (4x christmas tree clips there, they suck). The seat is out but you can see where the bolts attach to the bracket
    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
