Gents,

I will be tackling the Reefton Spur (168 bends in 18km!) followed by the Black Spur this Sunday (2 October 2011) in my new V35 coupe for some 'spirited' driving. Aiming to start around 6:30 to 7am to avoid the traffic.

More than happy for any V35s to come along for the drive.

ChrisB, NissanRules, Alphamox? Any takers? We haven't had a cruise in ages!

Anyone keen on some spirited driving this coming Sunday morning ( 6 Nov)?

Just got new tyres fitted (Hankook S1 Evos) and keen to test them out.

Location?

Anyways, I wanna go for cruise down Beach Road and around St Kilda Beach tomorrow, anyone keen for a mini meet up?

Sorry, would love to but can't do Saturday (have to take the family to the beach).

As for location on Sunday, will probably be Warrandyte - Christmas Hills - either Toolangi Spur or Black Spur.

At this stage, at least 2 members of the Z club are keen as well.

Hello guys,

Just to let you know for all you guys in Victoria that tomorrow night, there will be a skyline meet at Pines Shopping Centre in Doncaster. For more information, goto the Victoria/Events section and enter the thread called "Apple Peel Comeback". I will be going tomorrow in my V35 sedan/maxima if all is well and hope that other V35's will tag along. It seems that I'm the only V35/V36 owner interested in this cruise at the moment so it will be good to see others out there to rally support :). It will be also good to catch up with the members who were in our last meet up to Dandenong and to Chris' place for a BBQ. Pm me or show an interest to the cruise in the thread.

Hello guys,

8igSky and I joined the Z-Club for their annual X-mas cruise last Sunday up to Mt Macedon and it was a blast. Total of 14 Zs, 2 V35s and 2 R35 GT-Rs were roaring up the Calder Freeway!

Seeing as the end of the year is coming and the weather is getting better, can't help but think that its time for the Vs in our midst to meet up for a chat and a cruise.

At this stage, the details are:

Date: Either Sat 17 Dec or Sun 18 Dec

Cruise Meet location: TBC - Depends on Cruise destination

Cruise times: 10am arrival. 10:30am departure.

Proposed cruise route details: TBC. Either Mt Dandy, the Spurs or Mt Donna Buang or perhaps all of the above!. PLEASE PM ME WITH ANY OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS.

Let me know if you guys are keen

Thanks!

Guys,

Thanks for all your responses. Looks like Sat 17th is looking to be the better date.

Hopefully we will get a few more oks in the next couple of days. Pls pass on the word to any fellow V35 owners that you know.

BTW, I've noted that GTCC is also organising a cruise to Mt Donna Buang on the following Sun 18th. (See the Vic Events section). Haven't been to a GTCC cruise before but I understand that it is for all car types.

If our V35 numbers are, say below five, one alternative is to tag along with them to make up the cruise numbers while still exchanging notes on our V35s. Or I'm equally happy if we do our own V35 meet on Saturday. Any thoughts? Interfooler/Dreadnought - Can you do the 18th as a alternative?

Cheers!

Heard about the GTCC one. Was thinking of attending that one (depending on my mate)

Again Push comes to shove, I'm able to do the 17th as well just need to depend on the time you wish to have a v35 one.

Only really have a house warming to attend, but not 100% confirmed.

If numbers are low on the 17th? can always have a drive to garage cafe? etc?

18th shouldn't be a problem for me and don't mind joining the GTCC guys.

Cool!

Thanks Mayo_85

Gkzlah, if you can make it on Sat 17th, we will have five cars.

Weather report shows it being cloudy with chance of rain in the arvo so I reckon we should make an early start.

Updated details below:

Date: Sat 17 Dec

Cruise Meet location: McDonalds - Corner of Springvale Road and Whitehorse Road

Cruise times: 8:30am arrival. 9:00am departure. (Mayo_85, hopefully not too early for you? Traffic will start to build up if we leave too late).

Proposed cruise route details: The Black Spur!

Guys,

The latest update to the weather report shows that Saturday will be rain free.

Cars attending so far:

1) Thinktea

2) Interfooler

3) Mayo_85

4) Gkzlah

5) Dreadnought

I will be meeting up with some of the z-club members tomorrow night and unless you have any objections, I will extend the invitation for any Zs or R35s to join us if they are keen.

Other Melbourne V35 owners reading this, put your name down and join us for some fun on Sat morning!

Nice one Think, thanks for organizing. If you're meeting the Z club on Friday I'd be pretty keen for that, too.

In terms of the 17th, getting up that early on a Saturday would probably kill a weaker man, but I will break my rules and set a weekend alarm :P

Allegedly I have a potential buyer looking at a car I'm selling around lunch time, but I'll wait and see if they confirm.

    • Have a look at that (shitty) pic I posted. You can see AN -4 braided line coming to a -4 to 1/8 BSPT adapter, into a 1/8 BSPT T piece. The Haltech pressure sender is screwed into the long arm of the sender and factory sender (pre your pic) into the T side. You can also see the cable tie holding the whole contraption in place. Is it better than mounting the sender direct to your engine fitting......yes because it removes that vibration as the engine revs out 50 times every lap and that factory sender is pretty big. Is it necessary for you......well I've got no idea, I just don't like something important failing twice so over-engineer it to the moon!
    • Yup. You can get creative and make a sort of "bracket" with cable ties. Put 2 around the sender with a third passing underneath them strapped down against the sender. Then that third one is able to be passed through some hole at right angles to the orientation of the sender. Or some variation on the theme. Yes.... ummm, with caveats? I mean, the sender is BSP and you would likely have AN stuff on the hose, so yes, there would be the adapter you mention. But the block end will either be 1/8 NPT if that thread is still OK in there, or you can drill and tap it out to 1/4 BSP or NPT and use appropriate adapter there. As it stands, your mention of 1/8 BSPT male seems... wrong for the 1/8 NPT female it has to go into. The hose will be better, because even with the bush, the mass of the sender will be "hanging" off a hard threaded connection and will add some stress/strain to that. It might fail in the future. The hose eliminates almost all such risk - but adds in several more threaded connections to leak from! It really should be tapered, but it looks very long in that photo with no taper visible. If you have it in hand you should be able to see if it tapered or not. There technically is no possibility of a mechanical seal with a parallel male in a parallel female, so it is hard to believe that it is parallel male, but weirder things have happened. Maybe it's meant to seat on some surface when screwed in on the original installation? Anyway, at that thread size, parallel in parallel, with tape and goop, will seal just fine.
    • How do you propose I cable tie this: To something securely? Is it really just a case of finding a couple of holes and ziptying it there so it never goes flying or starts dangling around, more or less? Then run a 1/8 BSP Female to [hose adapter of choice?/AN?] and then the opposing fitting at the bush-into-oil-block end? being the hose-into-realistically likely a 1/8 BSPT male) Is this going to provide any real benefit over using a stainless/steel 1/4 to 1/8 BSPT reducing bush? I am making the assumption the OEM sender is BSPT not BSPP/BSP
    • I fashioned a ramp out of a couple of pieces of 140x35 lumber, to get the bumper up slightly, and then one of these is what I use
    • I wouldn't worry about dissimilar metal corrosion, should you just buy/make a steel replacement. There will be thread tape and sealant compound between the metals. The few little spots where they touch each other will be deep inside the joint, unable to get wet. And the alloy block is much much larger than a small steel fitting, so there is plenty of "sacrificial" capacity there. Any bush you put in there will be dissimilar anyway. Either steel or brass. Maybe stainless. All of them are different to the other parts in the chain. But what I said above still applies.
