When I was at the scene looking at my car, some kid that lives on the street told me that my car was used to steal another Stagea just around the corner at the TAFE... He also told me the owner of the other one, which is a black Stagea, got the footage of the theft on his camera phone.

If anyone knows who this other owner is, or if you are him, get in contact with me ASAP!

My sincere condolances man. I looked at those pics and imagined what it'd be like if it happened to me, I know i'd be beside myself and probably wanting to kill someone/thing. Hopefully insurance will give u the paperwork asap. Really bites tho, looked like a gorgeous vehicle. I hope the bastards get testicular cancer.

i sure can does your insurer require you to have a black wire alarm? do you want one with a paging device?

Hey Steve. Can you grab me a quote from Ric? Something decent enough to keep shady pricks out of my car :)

Thanks mate

just a random silly idea could start a posy looking for random thieves and go hurting them :P as i said random and silly and those that know me know i dont mean that :P

I used to live in Oakden. when I lived with my parents.

Had my 33 at the time broken into.

I was friends with the owner of four brother imports,. He lived up the road. his 34 was broken into plenty of times. He finally caught the guy. basically ran him over. Anyway this FBI guy still lives there and he knows where abouts this oakden thief lives. May not be the guy your after, so I should be carefull. But if you want anymore info PM me.

careful what you wish for man i know i guy just has just had chemotherapy and has possibly had one or both testicles removed

...I hope the bastards get testicular cancer.

Well id prefer black wire, harder to disable the alarm. And can you get me a price for paging and non-paging? Thankyou Steven.

f**kin shame to come on here and read about someones pride and joy being torched.

best of luck with the insurance mate, lookin forward to seeing you posting about the purchase of a new stag :P

me too if ya dont mind steve :P

And thats why I'm wishing it against some asshole who take a giant shit against a guys life. And not wishing it against the pope. So sorry for your friend, but its totally irrelevant.

  • 4 weeks later...

A quick update for all.

I will be purchasing my new Stagea some time next week, worst case maybe the week after. I am just waiting on the cheque from the insurance company now.

It will be a 2000 Series 2 RS4, factory manual, stock other than exhaust and in car entertainment, and CAR SECURITY!!!!!!!

I will post pics when I get the car.

Also, I went to look at the wreck at Pickles as I have purchased it back, and I saw a burnt out black series 2.... I really hope it wasn't the one that was stolen using my car.

Condolences to the owner if it was.

I'm glad the insurance company came through for you. This time, don't park it in a shopping centre carpark until after u got a $1000 alarm fitted :)

good to hear mmmm manual very rare :) good luck with this one and if for any reason you dont like the alarm

hit up Ric at Auto Perfection does SAU discount and or John from Marvey Tech both do great work and i have used both as many of us

I'm glad things worked out for you, even though I haven't been following topic from beginning.

Just saw pics on previous page and I can't believe there are people sick enough to do such thing.

Next week I'll get Viper 5900 2-way alarm installed in my R32 (to replace cheaper alarm that car had when I bought it). According to what I heard it's the best 2-way alarm on world. Costs $800, but I got it for $290 from states via ebay (+approx $350 to get it professionally installed). If you're not too confident in the alarm the new car comes with, I recommend Viper 5900 - only heard good things about it. You can get it installed at Ang's audio shop or Marvey Tech.

Ezi track looks good, if you can afford it, although unlike other GPS tracking systems there's no ongoing fees, so over time it's quite good value.

Just a quick tip, if you leave your car in a dodgy area as well as getting a good alarm installed remove the fuel pump fuse or something along those lines its simple and 99% of thieves will over look it.

Ive heard of people doing this, coming back to find a smashed window and broken ignition but their car still there. Personally I do it when I leave my car in dodgy suburbs even for a few minutes, takes 30 seconds at most.

    • For once a good news  It needed to be adjusted by that one nut and it is ok  At least something was easy But thank you very much for help. But a small issue is now(gearbox) that when the car is stationary you can hear "clinking" from gearbox so some of the bearing is 100% not that happy... It goes away once you push clutch so it is 100% gearbox. Just if you know...what that bearing could be? It sounding like "spun bearing" but it is louder.
    • Yeah, that's fine**. But the numbers you came up with are just wrong. Try it for yourself. Put in any voltage from the possible range and see what result you get. You get nonsense. ** When I say "fine", I mean, it's still shit. The very simple linear formula (slope & intercept) is shit for a sensor with a non-linear response. This is the curve, from your data above. Look at the CURVE! It's only really linear between about 30 and 90 °C. And if you used only that range to define a curve, it would be great. But you would go more and more wrong as you went to higher temps. And that is why the slope & intercept found when you use 50 and 150 as the end points is so bad halfway between those points. The real curve is a long way below the linear curve which just zips straight between the end points, like this one. You could probably use the same slope and a lower intercept, to move that straight line down, and spread the error out. But you would 5-10°C off in a lot of places. You'd need to say what temperature range you really wanted to be most right - say, 100 to 130, and plop the line closest to teh real curve in that region, which would make it quite wrong down at the lower temperatures. Let me just say that HPTuners are not being realistic in only allowing for a simple linear curve.
    • I feel I should re-iterate. The above picture is the only option available in the software and the blurb from HP Tuners I quoted earlier is the only way to add data to it and that's the description they offer as to how to figure it out. The only fields available is the blank box after (Input/ ) and the box right before = Output. Those are the only numbers that can be entered.
    • No, your formula is arse backwards. Mine is totally different to yours, and is the one I said was bang on at 50 and 150. I'll put your data into Excel (actually it already is, chart it and fit a linear fit to it, aiming to make it evenly wrong across the whole span. But not now. Other things to do first.
    • God damnit. The only option I actually have in the software is the one that is screenshotted. I am glad that I at least got it right... for those two points. Would it actually change anything if I chose/used 80C and 120C as the two points instead? My brain wants to imagine the formula put into HPtuners would be the same equation, otherwise none of this makes sense to me, unless: 1) The formula you put into VCM Scanner/HPTuners is always linear 2) The two points/input pairs are only arbitrary to choose (as the documentation implies) IF the actual scaling of the sensor is linear. then 3) If the scaling is not linear, the two points you choose matter a great deal, because the formula will draw a line between those two points only.
