I'm working on it Ben. Have a read of the thread I posted in the SA section, it's a full 03Apr04 AIR street meet report. In brief - I was 99% sure I was on a 12.2-12.3 pass until a rather nasty crash from the car I was running against! I reckon we should change the tyres we accept for this list to be more in line with the ANDRA Sport Compact class rules (which are actually the rules most of us compete under) instead of the way HPI does it.

DOT rated tyres not just radial tyres welcome ya reckon? Thoughts anyone?

I'm happy to have a 'slicks' section but I'd rather not throw slick users in with Radial tyre users simply because slicks give quite an advantage. Could even make it an 'open' section (ie; any type of fuel).

The problem is not my own rules n regs but the participation (or lack of) from the people on the list. As you can see by 'my list' here i'd really like to get more information but some people find it difficult to even provide their tyre sizes let alone their 1000ft mph etc.

What I may do is start creating a 2nd list (with heaps more details - which can be found on any official time slip) for the 'serious' people and then slowly filter out this 'daily driver' list.

Not a bad idea but when was the last time you saw DOT rated Slicks? I am obviously referring to tyres such as the MT ET Streets which are made of the same nylon compund as the ET Drag slicks but have a tread pattern on them and meet other requirements making them DOT approved.

I kidded myself for ages that Radials were the go and came within an inch of buying some BF Drag Radials. But when we're competing against other cars on DOT rated tyres that aren't radials, why should we kid ourselves that we're somehow on a higher plain of being because we have to do it harder?!?!? We're disadvantaging ourselves in terms of comparing our cars to others in our class.

In relation to the participation comment, this forum is also about education. We need to show people how different tyres, tyre sizes, mods etc affect 1/4 mile times and encourage all the people posting on the drag list to include as many details as possible.

Sorry if this is my epiphany alone to realise but I think it is much more realistic.

:confused: DOT approved tyres are currently accepted on this list (ie; Nitto's, BF Drag Radials, Semi-slicks etc) or am I misunderstanding something ?
no Ben only radial tyres are currently accepted in the list

Semi-slicks, Nitto's, BFG Drag Radials are accepted, the only tyres that aren't accepted (currently) are full-slicks (as stated on the initial first post).

Otherwise your time wouldn't have been added :D

Noticed that the "1/4 mile time honour roll' hasn't been updated in awhile so took it upon myself to create this list.

* This list is for Skyline models only.

* Please PM me your details to keep the thread clean:

- Car Model;  r34 gtr vspec

- 60ft time: 1.733

- TS

- 1/4 Time: 11.964

- Tyre size (eg; 225/50/16)  245-40-18

- Tyre Pressure (eg; 36psi)   25psi

- Tyre Brand/model (eg; Nitto NT555R) dunlop sp9000

- Fuel Type used (eg; BP Ultimate, Optimax, etc) bp with toluene

* 1/4 Times are for 'you' and 'your' car only.

* NO slick tyres.

* Must be using PULP.

* Timeslips are not required but preferred.

The 1/4 Times are located at: http://skylines.pnc.com.au (click on the link located in the middle at the top). This URL can be bookmarked but dont bookmark the actual "times" list as that will change on every update.

PS. Read the instructions above, then re-read them again.

The only problem with that is not many people have access to a digital camera / scanner and those that do usually can't be bothered scanning the slips and emailing them to me.

That means the list would go from about 70 -> 10.

Once again it's not an issue at my end, more so lack of interest from the others.

    • When you pulled it off, there is no signs of blown head gasket? Is it possible you have some other issues going on? Possible cracked blocked? Or do you think it's straight up lifting the head? Did you check what the head was torqued to before pulling it down (To see if possibly they're stretching, or starting to break threads out etc)?
    • Seems like a decent result for a modded JZX110. They are bulky in comparison to the 100 and 90 models (which I'd prefer myself) but they are getting very few and far between here in JP these days. Thanks for the detailed review and the import process into the UK. I also have a car which I'm hoping to export from Japan at some stage so it's good to know if someone from the UK was interested in it. By the way the corrosion underneath is par for the course for cars which were located in/near the mountains or along the Japan sea coastline. They get huge amounts of snow every winter and the sodium chloride is used on the roads. Many cars have some kind of rubber like treatment underneath but they tend to limit it to the wheel arches underbody and fuel tank. Suspension arms and sub-frames will have similar corrosion to your JZX110 which is a common sight. See it all the time and car dealers here generally don't even mention it unless asked.
    • If the sound goes away when you clutch in, the 1.5/2 way diffs are just shit, and you are a normal person. The diff is likely "fine" but driving at anything under 30kmh is a violent horrible experience. It would be exaggerated with solid diff bushings and subframe bushings if you have those.
