Thanks for the kind words:D I was pretty impressed with the BOV too esp as I was expecting the usual rubber pipe.

The other thing that really impressed the hell out of me was the 100mm - 80mm air pipe to the turbo, all hand crafted. Also all the bends are steampipe and been blended so well they look like mandrel bends.

Evan truley does magic work, and as usual the photos just dont do it justice.

Had a bit of a chat to him about a new plenum - probably 3-4 weeks until he has finished making them and another week to go through fitting and testing.

Cheers guys.

Paul would be good to see the photos of your baby once shes done:)

Well hippy I got a Signal sticker in the garage, only prob is I dont have any signal bits. Lots of HKS bits on the car and waiting to go on the car, just no HKS sticker - spose I'll have to get one before I wind in too much boost:D

Car is now getting tuned, unfortunately my little boy is still sick, so I cant be there. Cant wait, even with out a tune the car seems soooo much more responsive off boost, and the note is awesome, nice growl, even at idle sounds a bit angry.

Thanks Dean, I am using a 40mm HKS standard wastegate, hope its big enough, its rated to over 500hp, so should be ok.

I will get a rwkw figure, but it will be no where near 300. The plenum has me a bit concerned, so I asked them to please just do a really safe tune, and keep the AF ratios on the conservative side. When the plenum has been upgraded, I will be doing head gasket and cams then start winding in the boost and see how close she gets to 300:)

Hi Steve, nice car!! ;) Very nice pipework. Is that all mild steel with black coating? That's not stainless steel? Otherwise I thought you would have gone for the shiny piping?

Are you going to get rid of the 80mm AFM and replace with a MAP sensor? I guess that depends upon what ECU you are running? I particularly like the heat shield around the exhaust housing. Was that custom made? If so, how much?

Hippy, I doubt it ever will.

EVOIV: thanks. the manifold is mild steel, everything else was done in stainless including the dump, except for the hills plenum of course. I had it all ceramic coated, plus I will be heat wrapping the dump too. I would have had it coated even if it was stainless, as I like the idea of keeping the gasses moving as fast as possible. I went mild as I didnt see the need for stainless on the manifold.

I am running power fc, and I would like to keep afm. The heat shield was custom made, I shall check to see how much it was. I had so many things done at once it is hard to remeber what each bit cost:)

Just a question, why would you want to keep the AFM if it restricts air flow, even slightly - being 80mm? Also, I know that the Japanese Power FC can come with a map sensor. Do you know if it's possible to get that? Or, you can do what AutoBarn's 180 did (before). Which was use the AFM after the intercooler, don't know how well it worked...but the car made great power. That way you could use a full 100mm pipe from airfilter to turbo.

I think the mildsteel manifold was a good choice as I've heard that stainless ones are more prone to cracking, just like mine did ;) What's next on the mod list? :) Will be good to see what results your car makes. I'm sure it will make a bucket load.

But do you find that the car is substantially laggier than normal? My car was a slug off boost. Felt slower on the road, unless I really pushed it on boost.

    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.

    • Before I get to the test day, just to finish off the android head unit. This is a demo from car start up....the standard/host system takes a few seconds to boot (same as all v37) but Android comes up quickly. In this vid I'm using the delivered launcher but have set the default to Agami since which is easier to navigate when if use primarily 5 apps. You can see the host system still takes over when required eg putting it in reverse, and you can switch between Android and not by holding the back button 3 sec. It is pretty responsive (fast) but you can see I had to press harder than expected a couple of times.  I still have the phone connected to the stock system, and that also seamlessly takes over Android music playing. v37-android-demo.mp4 The bigger reason that I put this in though is so that I can use Ecutek directly on the head unit. That gives me a dash with logging (up to 20MB only), high and low value warnings on any parameter etc etc. I've run a USB cable from the Ecutek OBD dongle to a USB input on the unit, easy. v37-ecutek-demo.mp4   The unit did freeze on the launcher the other day, I think Agami was trying to verify the license when it didn't have a data connection...will monitor and report back if there are any other problems but so far I'm very happy with the upgrade.
