Spectator stands what the hell? The track is surrounded by hills that let you see far more than just 1 corner from every single point. You can even take your rug and some chairs and esky and lay back and relax which is something you can't do in the main grandstand.

Imagine what $30mil could do to Wakefield Park, you could build another 10 identical venues so that an entire v8 field could actually compete on the same track.

i agree!!! They defintely shouldn't be closing OP

I can understand it closing, but it should be replaced bigger and better!!! All the race tracks are in desperate need of funds and upgrades!

Why is Mt Panorama so expensive to hire? Do they want to keep it V8 exclusive?

Welcome to the debacle that is WA round of v8 Supercars.....

Aww :D Not cool Huh :D

I got fire up and wrote an email to the radio station!

What really needs to happen is the motorsport and car club communitys need to do something about this sort of stuff and stand up and get heard! It's always us little guys that lose out:/

Jess,

the reason its so expensive is because its a public road and its got something to do with the public liability insurance...and also ppl live on the mount so clearing it past all of them would prove difficult

Ahh yep I forgot that people use that track as there drive way!

The council are actually pushing very hard to have an extra round here at the Bathurst. They are saying that it is far more economical to prepare Mt Panorama for racing then it is to prepare a street circuit in Sydney and Bathurst already has awesome facilities. Mt Panorama curently has approval for 5 full circuit events per year if needed.

There are also plans for another curcuit there using pit straight and then further down the hill. This track could be used without effecting residents and could be open for regular track days!

Not sure though if another round at Bathurst would effect the main event or if they would get the spectators out here for the normal round.

Tim.

Thats a great idea, but how do we go about doing it. Im sure that some sort of petition could be organised. SAU has massive member numbers, and we should be able to organise support from sister forums such as nissan silvia. and as you said, other car clubs and workshops could support it also. but we would have to be clear on what we were wanting sorted out. Do we not want street events because they take funding that could be spent on current track upkeep, or do we just want more funding for this? i dont see a problem with the street race as it will introduce motorsport to more people in which can generate money, but if it means loosing a track that the public uses then its a problem.

I wrote an email to the radio station stating that the $30milion spent on a new street circuit would be better put to use replacing Oran Park or injecting funds into Eastern Creek and Wakefield park, or event making Mt Panorama more affordable to use for car clubs! This has been passed on to the people that want to hear opiouns

I am not totally against the street circuit but cant understand why they would choose that option which will upset a lot of people and residence's and is crap for spectatotrs than building a brand new race track for all to use!!

Why do us little guys have to get forgotten about when we help keep motorsport alive with using the race tracks every weekend! If we could get all the car clubs together to sign a petition online and tell the government our views and to say build us a brand new track to replace Oran Park or put the funds to better use and upgrade the other two standing race tracks! We use the forum I know I am a member of 5 or more forums

We need to write to the Minister of state development - The Hon. Ian Macdonald, BA(Hons) MLC

Is there a way in which we could start a petition thread?

It's about time the residents of Mt Panorama were bought out and the facility turned into a Nurburgring style place so that it could actually be used.

that would be heaven! rock up, pay your $20 a lap or whatever and go for it.

Is there a way in which we could start a petition thread?

I have written a email to the minister this morning and will await his response to see if a petition is a good plan, the only problem with a petition is and I agree with Adam is we would need "thousands" of signatures  Would need help from IT guys to set up online petition..

I reckon! That would be the best! That's why I did the hillclimb on weekend just so I could experience Mt Panorama!

    • Even more fun, leave all the ADAS stuff plugged in, but in different locations, hopefully avoid any codes!   And honestly, all these new cars with their weird electronics. Pull all the electronics out Duncan, and just shove an aftermarket ECU and if needed a trans controller in, along with a PDM. Make it run basic but race car styled!
    • To follow up a question from earlier too since I had the front bar off again (fking!) This is what is between the bumper and the drivers side wheel And this is the navigator side, only one thing but its a biggy! So basically....no putting coolers in the wheel arches without a lot of moving other stuff. Assuming I move to properly race prepping this car I'll take that job on and see how the computers respond to removing a whole bunch of ADAS modules
    • So I prepped the car for another track day on Wednesday (will be interesting to see coolant temps post flushing out and the larger reservoir, with a forecast of 3-14 being 20o cooler than last time I took it out). Couple of things to mention; since I am just driving the car and not taking a support vehicle, I took the rear seats out and just loaded the back up Team Trackday style. Look at all that space! To cover off removing the rear seat....it is weird (note the hybrid is probably different because it wouldn't have folding rear seats) Basically, you remove the lower seat base, very similar to a r series but it is a clip that pulls forward to release the base rather than it being bolted down. Easy Then, you need to remove the side section of the rear seat on each side. There is a 14mm head nut at the bottom of the side piece, the it slides upwards off a hook at the top to release; you also need to unhook the seatbelt from the loop at the top. Then the centre piece is weird. You need to release/fold the seats forward with the tab in the boot on each side From there, there are 2,x12mm headed bolts holding the rear of each seat to the folding bracket, under the trim between the rear seat and the boot (4x christmas tree clips there, they suck). The seat is out but you can see where the bolts attach to the bracket
    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
